Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 8

I think any of them could have said this. Yes, she's a terrible dancer, and it must be frustrating for both of them. Several of the celeb's seemed frustrated in the practices. As I said earlier, who knows what went on in some of the other rooms. But showing Kate is definately what will bring the most drama..look, it has us all talking about just her, even though other's had problems. I can't imagine the frustration trying to teach Buzz how to dance, and he too told his partner how to teach him, it's just that we like him, so we think it's cute that he tells her how to teach him. Shannen seemed pretty frustrated as well as the tall guy who's name I can't remember. But those at home either rooting for, or hoping she falls on her face, grabbed onto what was going on with Kate, and the producers knew we would. I have never seen DWTS talked about on line all over the place like this. They have a winner..in fact they are prob making all the phone calls to keep her LOL!
This truly is not about the dancing this time around.

I didn't want Kate to fall on her face. I was actually hoping she'd do well. But ABC was smart to put her on. It doesn't matter if she can dance or not, she'll bring drama and ratings period. I can't tell you how many times a really good dancer has gone home while they kept someone mediocre because of the fans. It's a dancing competition yet celebs who are really good and have improved get sent home because they didn't have enough fans calling in.

Shannen was frustrated and I thought at one point she was going to storm off. Mark even asked her if she was serious when she said she was done. But she pulled herself together and I thought she did pretty good. Parts of her routine looked hectic and I was surprised her legs held her up, they look like fragile toothpicks.

I love when they show rehearsal footage, it's always interesting to see the interaction between dancer and celeb. I think the problem with Kate was that she was demanding Tony explain the dance in a different way. That ruffled his feathers (and pride I'm sure;)) so he stormed off. My guess is that he's wishing he was paired up with someone else. Maybe if someone had played him J&K+8 season 4 (think coupon episode!) he would've asked for a different partner! Although, I wonder if the professionals even have a say in who they get?

Not even close! He asked, and came up with an idea for himself and then listened to his teacher. Not to mention he smiles and has fun.

Well of course he smiles, his face is permanently frozen into a smile with all that plastic surgery! Did you see his wife? She looked scary, her face was really bizarre.

He has fun because all he has to do is walk around while his partner (who is fabulous) twirls around him. Of course he's 80 so that has to be taken into consideration. I don't know if I'd consider it a fair comparison, he and Kate. Kate's choreography was much more complicated. His attitude is more pleasant though, that I agree with. He doesn't look frightened out of his skin like Kate does.

I think that's what is going to be the most interesting about this. So many people post that people don't like Kate, but if the phone calls keep up, they may be proven wrong. This really isn't a 'who dances better' show, but a popularity contest. I can't see any reason for Kate to go home right after Buzz, if they are judging on dancing (before him, if they judge on being sweet), but I'm not convinced that is going to happen.
Tony may not mind this..he's getting a lot of attention, and will prob be able to write his own book, once it's over LOL!

AND that is the difference attitude!!! That is why most people don;t like Kate.

I don't like Buzz especially. I think he needs to move on past the moon thing. Is that even possible? I do think he improved tremendously from week 1 to week 2. I think he is a hard worker, it looked like he respected and appreciated his coach/partner. He is 80 years old and he knew the steps. Kate's facial expressions during the dance were not even humanlike. She "apologized" to Tony, then "doesn't get it." Some people never get it. Her talking was so awfully distracting and she did not know the routine. She has to be hard to coach, there is no way around it with her personality. The eye rolling to the judges, the coldness to Brooke...she is so odd. She could never have a talk show. Since Tom introduced her as the star of "Kate plus 8", I guess the kids will be back for everyone to see very soon.

I don't recall that. I didn't see Kate rolling her eyes at the judges, maybe I missed that?:confused3 IMO she wasn't cold to Brook, actually Brook is a bit awkward as the host. Did Tom say 'Kate+8'?? I didn't catch that either.:confused3

He did LOL? Then why the 4's? Didn't he get lower scores this week than last? I thought he pretty much just followed his coach, not much dancing. Age really shouldn't play a part in the judging.

She rolled her eyes LOL. I saw that and thought, OMG, the dis is going to have a ball with that. I don't know if she was rolling them at the judges, or at herself, knowing how bad she was, but I knew someone would post it.

I didn't notice anything between her and Brook, but then I don't think Brook is anymore comfortable with her roll, than Kate is with hers.

I must have missed that eye rolling! I'll have to go back and watch. Is it up on ABC yet, anyone know?

I agree about Brook, she looks awkward. I prefer the old host, Samantha something. She was able to banter with the celebs/dancers more easily.

Wow! Check out this video clip from last night after Tony and Kate danced. They were interviewed by Access Hollywood. I've never seen this side of Tony, it came across a tad arrogant. The interviewer told Tony that he's known as a hard teacher and he got all defensive. Then he walked off.

On the right hand side, there's a video segment area, scroll down to Kate's Dancing Drama.

dial idol has Kate & Tony considerably further down the list then they were last week. they're in the bottom 4. now, I don't follow dial idol much, so I don't know how accurate their counts are outside of the top vote getters. Buzz is the lowest vote getter on their list.

Did Kate ever think of how her "dancing" (and I use that term loosely) on tv would affect the kids in school. You know they're friends and they're friends moms are all watching and talking about Kate. I think my kids would not like it if I was doing this on tv, especially for the money.

What about the other moms who've done the show? I'm sure their kids were watching and had to go to school as well. I don't fault Kate for doing the show and I've rooted for other moms in past seasons (Mel B., Jennie Garth, Brooke Burke, Melissa Joan Hart, Kristi Yamaguchi, Jane Seymour). But I think this will be a moot point since Kate can't dance anyway and will probably go home within the next 2 weeks I'd guess.

No, why would it affect her any more than any other mom on the show? I think he kids would be proud of her for trying. My kids would have thought it was hysterical, knowing my dancing ability.

:rotfl: They frighten me immensely! Oh, he can't dance or move at all no question. I was just speaking about attitude in someone who can't dance. You can still be pleasant and not blame the pro.

You know I don't really care much for Brooke. I liked her as a dancer, but as a host she doesn't do it for me. I just thought I'd throw that in there. :)

ETA: I see Brooke has been discussed. I do think she is kind of awkward.
