Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 8

Yeah, I know that Jon said this, but like everything else Jon used to say, I figure it was fed to him by Kate to say. And obviously it wasn't true then (there must have been many things they didn't "work out later") and I don't think it is true now.
I don't think Kate fed him that one. They weren't talking at the time LOL. It was part of an interview after the fact.

I see a lot of drama and high ratings. I think this is couldn't be going better if the producers planned it. Oh, wait..did they?

I vote yes!

The Bachelor/Bachelorette series is almost all fabricated and edited into something the people on there don't recognize .. I'm quite certain DWTS (and other shows like it) are the same.

I think we talked about that here. Didn't they say something about because she had kids? It was a strange comparison between 3 woman. I don't really know the other two they were comparing her with, but people thought the comparison was strange.

they did mention the kids as a factor, but the tanning stuck out in my mind more at the time. I'm going to see if I can find it now, LOL.

and yes, it was an odd mix of people they compared.

Going back to how the kids feel with their mom on dwts, kate's kids are different from the other kids. The other kids have grown up with the mom or dad in the spotlight as a celebrity, kate is just doing this a)to put food on the table or b)to get attention for herself. And Kate comes with soo much media baggage, I just can't believe she would open herself up to being judged.

What doesn't happen with the other dancers? No one saw any of the others not getting along? No one thought Shannen wanted to walk? The guy who just couldn't get th steps..he didn't look frustrated as heck, along with his coach? I thought he was going to give up. Sorry, but I really see the drama in this and this drama is what is going to get people coming back to DWTS to see what is going to happen next. It worked on K & J, and it's going to work on DWTS. I must be the only one who see's the frustration in both the person trying to learn to dance (why on earth did they even hire her to be on, if it wasn't for the drama, it sure isn't for the dancing) and Tony, the person trying to teach her. I saw Kate trying to tell her teacher she wasn't getting it the way he was showing it. Obviously, if you saw her dance, you realize she wasn't getting it. Not Tony's fault..she can't dance. If anyone other than Kate on that show would have said that, I doubt we would have seen it as her trying to boss him. She can't dance. It's really that simple. I don't think Tony will accept that it doesn't matter how hard he tries..she can't dance. Tony seems to be a nice guy, and Kate doesn't seem to get she really needs to keep her mouth shut, because anything she says will make her look like a witch, but really, she can't dance, and I just don't think he can teach her.

While I don't doubt that the producers are licking their chops when this stuff happens, and are quick to put it in the show, I don't think it was planned. We have seen Kate act like this a million times. She was wiping tears from her eyes saying "I don't get it?" I don't think she is that good of an actress to pull it off. She is also so dense that she doesn't realize why people get sick of her turning around everything they say so she can be in control. It is her lack of humility, she has to turn it all around all the time. He says, "You're telling me how to teach, and I do this for a living", and she says "Well, I'm not qualified to teach, but I am qualified to say how I want to be taught" Please. She turns every sentence everyone says to make it look like she is right. It is EXAUSTING. If she had an ounce of humility, she would say "you're right, you are the teacher, I don't know what I am doing, teach me" Or if he was like her, he would say "You may know how you want to be taught, but I am the one qualified to tell you how I want you to learn. Now learn it."

I don't like Buzz especially. I think he needs to move on past the moon thing. Is that even possible?

Oh my goodness! Thank you so much for giving me the best laugh I have had in years. You were being funny, I'm sure.

I think it is rather cool that Buzz Aldrin, American hero, is trotting his stuff at age 80 on DWTS. Apparently, he also would appreciate some $$. NASA did not compensate those true heroes enough.

And, after resisting valiantly and against my better judgement, I did watch DWTS yesterday. :scared1: IMO, Buzz embarrassed himself far less than Kate did. He did at least move to the music and seem to enjoy himself.

Now, I had no great expectations of Kate, but that was a horrible performance. Ouch! Even worse than I had imagined after the water cooler talk last week.

Was the confrontation with Tony staged? Possibly. But if it was, it still reflects badly on Kate. So she supposedly provoked a professional dancer and very experienced teacher into losing his cool. For the ratings? For the drama?

Tony has nothing to prove. He is a great dancer, and a person who trains dancers. When not performing he teaches. I'm sure he has come across visual learners before. That said, he has probably never come across a Kate before. :rotfl2:

If a professional teacher lost his cool with Kate, she is probably quite noxious. If he faked loosing his cool with Kate, she is probably beyond noxious!

JMO.

And I don't think they could have found a better sucker..er uh, person for this. Kate isn't good at keeping her mouth shut, or even saying things in a smooth manner. I think sometimes she opens her mouth and out fall words and while she may not mean them to be caustic, they are. They knew they would get drama and they got it. I mean why else is she there..she can't dance.

In my dreams (LOL) I'm hoping that it did happen like that off camera.

And no, I don't think either of them actually orchestrated this. But I do think this was something that could have been cut out of the whole, and shown to us for the drama.

what would be really cool is if ABC worked it out where there was a live feed of the practices, like Big Brother Live, or whatever that show is called. :happytv:

Can you imagine? I'd love to see that, that's a million dollar idea. ABC could stretch out their veiwing week...Monday night could be all rehearsal footage, Tuesday night would be the actual dancing and Wednesday night the results.:thumbsup2

Reportedly, she's "dancing" to c)pay attorney fees. ;)

Well, that's another we'll have to agree to disagree. I saw a couple of them not so happy with each other IMO. What they showed us was Kate trying to tell Tony how to teach her so she could get it. She wasn't getting it (and I don't think she will). He was insulted (rightly so, since I'm sure he thought she was saying he wasn't teaching her right) and put down his mic and quit, after saying he taught teachers how to teach. While I don't ever remember seeing that in the past, I do think that was a real plus for DWTS, to have all that drama. I have no idea if Kate tried to have him fired. I will be watching for him to tell us that, once he can actually talk about the incident. If she actually did, she will go down another notch for me.

I've seen couples during the rehearsal footage who looked like they wanted to take each other's heads off! I distinctly remember the season with Mel B. whose partner was Maks. At one point during their rehearsal she shoved him away and he pulled at her shirt because they were angry at each other.

It's not all roses during those rehearsals. There's alot of pressure on both the dancer and celeb. However, Kate really came across poorly in her treatment of Tony. If I'd have closed my eyes, I would've sworn she was talking to Jon. Her one comment about 'please don't make arguments where there are none' sounded so very much J&K+8. Talk about bizarre. Tony was probably thinking this chick is nuts! But, he was obviously highly offended with her for criticizing his teaching methods which unfortunately came across poorly for him. ABC must have been kicking back in their chairs and counting up the $ they were making off of this episode!

I think you're right Doris, Kate is frustrated with Tony's teaching and Tony is frustrated because she can't dance at all. He could explain it with big glossy pictures and she'd still have trouble catching on.

And I think he was still stinging over the argument when that interview went on and that person said that he was known for being tough and he asked who said that. He prob wasn't happy that it was being made to look like he was too tough.. so it might be his fault (which I don't think..I think they should have had someone on that has a little beat to their step. You can't teach the unteachable). I'm thinking neither of them are happy about how it's looking right now.

I completely agree. This is his livelihood so for that reporter to be all like 'I heard you're a tough teacher' after that horrible dance with Kate, probably wasn't making him too happy. He's been dancing since he was what, 4 years old probably!

Ok, the bolded above is hilarious!:lmao: You can't teach the unteachable! Tony has worked with so many different stars and has IMO done a great job. I think Kate is just the total opposite of what he's used to dealing with. She's coming across like she doesn't want to be there and I think that's hard for Tony to deal with since you know, it's a DANCING competition and he's a teacher!
