that I do wish those who know Kate (really know her, not know of her) and are her friends would come forward, but they just won't, for their and her own personal reasons. Some of her friends have sent out prayer requests, so I know they are out there.

you know, that is one interesting part of this story. with the exception of Jodi & Kevin some months ago, and the interviews in the tabloids at the height of the drama... not many people associated with Jon & Kate (or Jon OR Kate) have said much at all to the media. Good or bad. And the one person who probably has as much to tell as anyone is Beth. And she's remained the quietest of all.

come on, some have been practically giddy since Kate's return to TV! it's a whole new thread around here, LOL!

I will say though that I think this is one of the few non fan club sites (for or against) where most of us are still on-line friends (so to speak) in spite of how we feel about Kate. We've had a lot of discussions, that's for sure, and so far no one has been tossed from the dis, and the thread is still going strong. Good for all of us!

You are right..the friends (church and personal) they do have, seem to be loyal. Maybe they know them better than those of us who only know them on TV do, and they see all the sides and since they know the family better, they can separate what TLC has us believing and not believing. Or they are just really nice people and see no reason to talk about them.
I do have to say I've never been as interested in a TV personality (or at least paid attention to one) as this family.

I've followed very little of the DWTS stuff. Did ABC make Kate an offer or did her reps work to get her on the show? Anyone know? Either way, it's a win for ABC .. but I'm interested in knowing who worked the deal.

I was wondering that too. Also how far out they ask the "stars" to be part of the show. I know on Monday several of them mentioned waiting three weeks to see who they were paired with. It seems like it would have been recently. If the drama had died down a lot, they wouldn't have asked her I don't think. I think the same goes for like the Olympic medal winner (a skater right??) - would they have asked him if he hadn't have won a medal?? It's got to be a crazy process choosing people and inviting them to be on the show.

I totally agree. I don't frequent those other sites since this is where I can talk about J&K with minimal drama it seems but we all most of the time are on our best behaviour.

I think (I'm full of opinions today huh? ) that some of the friends probably don't know much (or as much as they thought - especially seeing how things turned out), don't want to sell out a friend or speak negatively about another person or are just getting together to write the "tell all" book (be it good or bad).

I agree...I don't ever remember being as interested in anyone else.

I use to see some of this on fan sites. What I read were fans, not friends with prayer requests. I use to see things like middle aged women baking and decorating birthday cakes for the twins, taking picutures of the cakes and posting them on blogs with wishes to "the most beautiful little girls in the world." "You deserve the best birthday ever", etc. Things like the picture montages set to music with well wishes, etc. That's creepyville.

If someone I loved or even just truly cared about had been portayed inaccurately by the national media and accused of exploiting her kids and of being a fake, money hungry, and a phony, etc. NOTHING could keep me from being there for them publically. What about her mother? Sisters? Blood relatives haven't defended her.

Did she really have friends at church? She said the reason she liked that church as opposed to her Dad's is that people left them alone and didn't talk to them? The show they filmed on a Sunday morning at church showed them all alone among hundreds of people. Do you think she still goes and takes the kids on Sunday mornings? I know Jon took them to some church around the holidays and was photographed. Why is she always photographed alone? She is with the kids or paid help.

She hasn't been worried AT ALL about privacy since before the tups were born. They had a website with their home address and a list of things they wanted/needed. They were more than happy to film EVERYTHING. Why would she be protecting friends? She didn't get the early specials by accident. She sent in tapes and "sold" the idea. They are a product that she and Jon created, not TLC. There is nothing subtle or complicated about Kate. I think what we saw is what it is. She used people like Beth and Bob and Jodi all up, then moved on. The kids had relationships with these people too, that is what's most tragic.

I would want to defend my family too, but with the paps, starting about a year ago, anyone that was involved with Kate or Jon, according to what I've read and heard (and who knows if it's true) suddenly became the ones chased. Many people don't want to be involoved in the drama. Perhaps they figured they were helping her more by keeping quiet. I know the members oftheir church did decide to stay quiet about the family. For some reason, when Kate and Jon were switching places, nothing much was written about Kate and where she was when Jon was there. We also don't see the paps stalking their home anymore, so I have no idea if she has friends coming or going.
I applaud Beth for not speaking out. Although I suppose she could be gearing up for a book. Who knows.
I'm just enjoying the DWTS show..I don't care much about the stuff in the past.

We can't really watch Pam dance and not remember Baywatch, her swinging around a pole on stage with Kid Rock, or the sex tape with Tommy.

You have a valid point. I guess I should have said, I believe in second chances, and I'm hoping this one is for Kate and her family. I don't really care about remembering how she and Jon got along, how someone thought her smile was, or that she didn't talk to someone when leaving a talk. I will remember the fun the kids gave us on the show instead.

Most of what I remember about Pam was the fun (and the cute guys) on Baywatch. I guess I missed the poll and tape.

I was around for the original moon walk, and that's what I'll think about when I see Buzz.

I know many had lots to say about Shannen (and very little was good), but I really don't care how she got along with the casts of her shows. I enjoyed Beverly Hills, and that's what I'll remember when she's dancing.

For me, what good does it do to keep hashing over and over how someone was. I want to see how they handle where they are now. (and also keep reading all the opinions LOL).

I think now Kate might be more worried about who's coming out to speak out about her. Jon might always have someone with him but look where that's gotten him! If Kate felt "wronged" by Jodi (who seemed to be very close in her "inner circle") she may have ended a lot of friendships then so no one can come to her defense right now. The stories from Kate's past (the past fiance tried around the time Jon was leaving the nanny's apartment and her brother was giving tours of the house or whatever) didn't seem to gain much interest. People were interested in the "here and now" stuff happening it seems. Even TLC might be paying to NOT run nice stories - the drama sold the show, not the loving, caring moments. Money talks! We also don't know who cut who out of each other's lives. Maybe Beth didn't like something and cut Kate off to pursue other things. Maybe Beth saw being connected to J&K and their less than stellar image if she was trying to line up deals with other companies or something (I don't know if Beth was or did any of these things...just saying "what if"). The long and short of it is that someone's paying a lot of money to keep a lot of things - good or bad - quiet.
