Yes, and I did see his remark..I don't think I said I didn't. I was commenting on the 'source' remarks, not his. People mag isn't up there with Good Housekeeping (of course people didn't like their article on the Gosselins either), but I do like them better than the Post.
Not to keep repeating myself, but as I said, I take who said what and what they have to gain by it, and make my own decisions on what I believe. Weir did comment on how he thought Kate behaved at that charity. What that has to do with a program she is now on, and he isn't (was he actually asked to be on it?) I don't know. Nice to read he actually hissed when talking about her. Makes his behavior so much better than hers. Is he a film star or a singer? I thought he was an ice skater.

Well, Johnny Weir has been quoted on Eonline, if you think that either that news medium or Johnny is credible as a named source. I think that People is a bit of a rag myself.

Johnny did not seem to like Kate's behavior at the Stars, Stripes and Skates Charity event.

"Weir has met the world's most famous mother of eight and he is not rooting for her on Dancing With the Stars. "She was a terror," he hissed. "She was rude to everyone at this charity show, and showed up very late. She's not a film star. She's not a singer. And it's not really acceptable in those cases either, to be a nasty person."

Not sure if he has a bone to pick, because DWTS contracted with Lysacek, and they surely don't need two figure skating ringers with extensive dance training.

I probably will not watch DWTS, I'm not a regular viewer, but I do support Kate earning money without filming the kids. I do wonder if that will last much longer than the dogs return to the dog houses.

There have been enough less than positive articles about Kate that do name names (the neighbor, the Vanity Fair article, the lady who ran the one women's show; for example). Pretty much all dismissed.

I don't think all the above was dismissed at all. The Vanity Fair article was pretty heavily discussed and Kate didn't get a pass on it. But that was then, this is now. Her marriage is gone, (and I'm hoping for both the kids and her sake that she is happier now and her attitude will reflect that), the kids are off the air, and I'm ready to see what she can do, and how she behaves on her own.

As far as I know, Kate is still claiming to be a poor single mom of all these kids.

We know she is not poor (she is under contract by TLC). And we know Jon contributes 10,000 a month to the kids. And if he weren't we would hear about it!

I haven't seen that claim at all (that she is still claiming to be poor) since her and Jon split and the money was returned. I have no idea what kind of income she is getting from TLC, but then I haven't kept up on Kate as a celebrity in some time. Since Jon is gone, I seldom see pics of her and the kids. I didn't know Jon contributed. I wonder where he's getting the money.
You know a lot more about Kate and the Gosselins than I do.

I don't believe that he actually hissed. come on. And it has nothing to do with the program she is on now, the pp stated that you seem to take the positive and believe it but not the negative, she didn't state during what time frame or show she was on. So your argument makes no sense. Also no he isn't a film star or singer, he is an ice skater, something I am sure he was trained for and worked hard for for many years. In other words he has a real marketable talent, Kate, not so much.

I don't know if they meant he hissed or not. So do I assume they made just that part up? I assume he didn't say it nicely. I just happen to think it's catty to pretty much say she is a nobody. Obviously the dancing show saw something that will bring people to the TV to watch. I don't even know if he was ever asked to be on the show, or if he would have ever had to worry about competing against her. If people want to believe it or not, she is a celebrity, or she wouldn't have been asked. I'm not sure what type of celebrity Heather Mills was. Obviously being a movie star or singer isn't the only reason people are asked to be on the show.
I actually started out on Jon's team. Ended up like most other's on the kids team. And if Kate being on this show, or successful in any other way helps her support her kids without them having to pee in public, I'm OK with that. If I choose to wait and see if she has a poor attitude on the show, that's just the way I live my life. I prefer to judge for myself.

I have certainly believed some of the negative, but I really don't know Kate or Jon. I do know that on this board, the people in the past who liked Jon and hated Kate were just as strong in their believes that he was a nice guy and she was a witch. Didn't he prove everyone right...not! Of course I'm sure it was because Kate drove him to his mistakes. I just find it hard to hate someone I don't know. Heck, I find it hard to hate someone I do know.
I thought we could just enjoy her on the show, or laugh at how she does or doesn't do. I didn't think we would start to drag up everything we discussed in the past and start the arguing all over again. It's the past. I'm looking forward to where this family goes now.

I understand your point. However in his defense, I think the remark about being an actor or singer is that they seen to have attitudes sometimes because of what they do and their talent(although, i doubt most of thier talent also) so we expect to see it in them, and he also stated that being an actress or singer still didn't make having a nasty attitude right. But to him, she had no reason to think she was so special. Which IMHO, she does. Also I believe that was an old article and had nothing to do with him being on DWTS. Just describing his experience with Kate.

I also started out on team Jon. Not any more, but I am not overly impressed with her. I am glad she isn't parading her kids in front of the TV, and to me it is fine that she is on DWTS, I will be watching. What I do not like is the attitude that she seems to have and unless I see a change in that attitude, I will continue not to care for her.

And as far as dragging up the past, I agree with you on that also, but you know what they say about first impressions, and she really hasn't left a good on. IMHO

I wish Kate only the best and I truly admire her for putting herself in a position of further scrutiny...let's face the facts...these so-called reporters are out to stir up controversy in order to sell papers...for this reason alone they are going to continue to label her a "diva" and spread vicious rumors about her...I say a picture is worth a thousand words and all the photos that I've seen lately are showing a very happy Kate who seems to be earnestly trying to support her family...there is not one person on this entire forum who can even remotely imagine what she has and is going through...we all need to be a little less harsh in our criticisms of others and rather be encouragers...seems our whole country could use a dose of this medicine...

I just see a couple of people who struggled and are trying to get back on with their lives without each other. I wonder how any of us would do under such close scrutiny.

Another good point. I think we forget sometimes, that just like we can take a post here and quote only part of it, they take celebrities lifes and quote only part of them. The part that will sell mags.

I am not going on photos when I form my opinion really, I am basing it on watching her actions and listening to her words and tone. I don't blame her for doing what she is to support her kids. As far as admiring her for putting herself out there, I think she enjoys the limelight, so it goes with the territory, not right necessarily but that is the way it has always been.

If Michelle Duggar was on there(fat chance) I would support her whole heartedly. True she is on TV with her kids, but for me it is all about the attitude. I love to study people and I watch Jon and Kate a lot. Her whole attitude is just terrible. Yes Jon was probably a lot to deal with, but still she very obviously wanted all the attention on herself. That is what I base my opinions on, if she comes out and is nice then I will support her on this show, but one small show of her attitude and I will never watch her on anything again.

I assume they are both paid when they do interviews (not the quoted kind, the ones where they give an interview). Plus Kate has been on several shows, and I assume she at least gets the sag amount for those. Once the money was put back in the account (has she whined and moaned after that?) I would think she had enough to pay the immediate bills. Plus, as she gets ready for what new show TLC has set up for her, I would think she is getting some pay. I would think everyone on Dance also gets some pay. Prob an advance on her book as well as payment for any talks she gives. I haven't followed either of them very much, and I have no idea what Jon is up to, and how he has money coming in.
I would be very surprised if the kids weren't there opeing night. I did read on the first page of AOL that she has asked that Jon not be there.

I read last night that Kate's reported attitude backstage was all BS. She's not even there practicing, she is practicing at home in PA. All hype, all to get ratings, I guess. People love to hate on her and the media probably wants to keep it that way. Who knows? I think we'll see a bit more of her personality come out on this show and maybe we'll be able to make our own judgement about how she is doing now.

The problem is--we don't have a full accounting of what they did with all of their money.

Clearly they weren't ready to retire and live off of their investments.

But we have ZERO knowledge of what money was set aside for what purposes--what their emergency fund may have been..etc...

Regardless of how much you make, to have the paycheck abruptly ended is a shock to the system.

I doubt the kids will be on the first night--but who knows. It seems the celebs at different times throughout the season will have their extended family visit and watch them dance.

Also--while it seems so long ago (well, to me it does anyway)--the show ended only 5 months ago.

I am sure Jon secured quite a bit of money for himself when the sold the kids back...er...settled the lawsuit with TLC. They mentioned the ENTIRE family is still under contract with them. I would guess Jon and Kate are being paid regularly by TLC, show or no show. Have you noticed a lot of bad publicity surrounding Jon seems to have died down about the time of the settlement? Probably not a coincidence.

Oh the kids will be there, and my guess is that they are going to be shown more than the other contestants families.

I do have to wonder if Kate is staying mostly in PA so she doesn't mix too much with the others. Yeah it makes sense to claim 'staying close to the kids' , but it doesn't quite add up. (since she is gone from home a lot anyway) You all will have to tell me if Steve is sitting on the edge of the dance floor and backstage with her!

She is practicing at home on her newly installed basement dance floor. She also has to rehearse in LA for part of every week. She is flying out for 3 or 4 days each week for rehearsal and eventually the show. She initially spent about two weeks straight there. Surely, the DWTS choreogrpahers, tech people, camera crew and her partner aren't traveling to PA for her to rehearse.

As for them all being under contract. I don't think that ever ended. Isn't that why they took Jon to court, because he was going against the contract he was under? Now that we found out that they weren't getting the huge bucks we thought they were getting when they were taping, I wonder just how much they are getting to not be taping. I don't know much about TV land, but do they have to pay you when you are under contract?

I do not know if Pam likes/dislikes Kate. What I was trying to say was, i"if" Kate started acting like a diva backstage, I would like to see Pam set her straight.

I wonder kate's bodyguard will have a front row seat and if any of the kids are there, who will be with them, the nanny? I would think Kara or Mady would want to go to meet the other dancers. Especially since it's been awhile since any of the kids have gotten to enjoy a "outing".

I'm now tempted to watch DWTS because Tony is just adorable.

Tony is a sweetie, always very gracious and works hard to showcase his partner and not himself. I think he's the perfect person to handle Kate. If they had paired her up with someone like Maks, well, I'm pretty sure he would've have slapped her! Tony is more understanding and easy going so I think they'll have good chemistry on the floor.

That interview was funny to me because while Tony was answering a question about his own family, Kate took over! She's still a piece of work if you ask me. Her personality is still quite large so I'm guessing DWTS is going to have their hands full with Kate! Can't wait to see how it all comes together.
