Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 6

Jon said Kate was shooting on Friday not him. He wants to delay the divorce b/c they need to work on custody and money issues. He does not agree with what Kate is bringing to the table, it has to be worked out before the divorce. And it's going to be ugly!

He can't go back. Everything he said is out there and true (filming the kids is harmful). Those kids are not going to be on the show anymore!! It doesn't matter the motivation, it is still the right thing for the kids, no question.

He repeatedly said he wants the kids off the show, he wants it to stop. there is no way he will back-track on that. He can't, he put out there that the welfare of his kids is in question. No court will force kids to film when one parent states they feel it is harmful. He can do that now, b/c he didn't sign up for any show called "Kate + 8". Now he can say no.

Good post :thumbsup2.

It floors me that with all this going on Kate was in CT making an appearance and DC (probably meeting with TLC) while obviously the kids were home with babysitters and nannies. TLC was not looking out for there best interests. $22,500 per episode split by 10! This must be why Kate is so intent on getting a talk show position so she can up the money. That 500,000 doesn't include book sales, freebies, trips, appearance money, "Love" offerings and gifts that people are probably still sending them.

Very interesting about the motorcycle. They must of really been trying to pacify Jon to stay with the show. Now they can't wait to get rid of him because he is coming out with stuff that people have been talking about for years. He seemed sincere! Lets hope so!

The promo for Jon's next interview on ET -- TLC will probably sue him for this one too:

I really wanted Larry to ask Jon how he will support his kids without the show, now I am hoping Mary Hart will ask him. "So, do you plan to go out and get a job now?" I also hope she asks him if he plans on giving up his New York apartment and moving back closer to the kids now.

I was trying to post a link to The Insider. They have a video on there of tonight's episode with Jon. I can't post it without including my e-mail address so I will just tell you about it. If you go to the Insider website then look to the right. There will be a link to click on about tonight's episode. I believe it shows a picture of Jon. It is something.

I agree that there were a lot of questions that could have been asked, but with TLC's decision to drop Jon from the show this week (after finding out that Jon was doing LKL) and TLC's requirement to have Kate's lawyer on the show, I'm sure this really limited the ground that could be covered. They actually had to go over some of the same stuff again once the 2nd lawyer came on. IMO, Larry would have asked him about that if the interview had gone ahead as originally planned.

Having said that IMO it is more important to get the kids off the show and figure out the finances later (it's not as if there are no savings) -- I'm not one of those who would agree that the needs of the kids are secondary to the money that the show provides. I would also think it would be a totally rationale decision, given the divorce, if J & K could agree to keep one parent with the kids at all times, work only part-time or not at all this year, and just work harder next year when all of the kids are in school full-time.

I for one would like CNN to state when the LKL interview had been arranged. I think that answer would be revealing, and confirm one side's story re the chain of events.

Wah...poor Hailey. Cry me a flipping river. It is taking over her life. Get over yourself honey...this isn't about you!

Wow, he's going to be on The Insider and Entertainment Tonight. He's really working the circuit. I checked out The Insider video and he is going to be on their panel with Neicey Nash! I love Neicey, she won't cut him any slack. I wonder if he is getting paid for any of these interviews?

Hailey just posted a link to this video on her twitter account about 20 minutes ago http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8XC7idFyvE&feature=channel

Also about 2 hours ago she posted this: Its time 2 move on<This drama has taken over my life, nevermind the entire like world<So beyond stressful.Like living in a state of paranoia!

I wonder if it means anything.. :confused3

who knows? :confused3 Hailey's tweets never seem to come across as intelligent. She should give up twitter if she wants some privacy and doesn't want to look stupid.

It looks like it is going to be pretty heated on The Insider tonight. I didn't see Jon's lawyer in the clip.

The interesting thing is, if he was getting paid people would say he's just doing this for the money. If he's not, they'd say Kate should have the kids because at least she's trying to support them.

I think it's a good legal move for him to do all of these interviews, given that TLC has already said they are taking him to court for breach of contract -- he had already been warned in their letter of Sept. 25th not to do LKL, so he may as well do them all. It doesn't make their case any stronger (one offense is no less worse than 3), but IMO if the public believe him they are more likely to back down. I'd like to see that happen, since IMO they'd only be suing him for the kids' money -- it's also ridiculous that they have a gag order on him when they let Kate go and talk wherever, whenever, and about whatever she wants to.

YEP!

I mean there are TONS of Celebrities that have minimal invasion into their personal lives. Ya never hear anything about Tom Hanks, Matt Damon, Denzel Washington, etc, that THEY don't want you to hear.

WHY? Because they don't have every minute of their lives filmed and they aren't idiots. They keep work and home separate.

Seriously, I got some bad and distressing news last night from my husband. Did I go on a tweeting rampage? NO. Because it's no one's business but mine and my husband's. I might vent to a few close friends of family members, but that by no means makes it OK for me to tell the whole world about it and then get pissy if people are interested and ask me questions.

Michael Lohan now has to give his two cents about TLC and Jon. Here is the link to Radaronline. http://www.radaronline.com/exclusiv...ichael-lohan-says-tlc-exploiting-jon-gosselin

Michael Lohan is such a sleeze. I can't believe Jon is associating with him.

True, but I did agree with one thing he said in that article: "I think it's nonsense. I think both parents care about their kids very much and they are both their interests," he told Radaronline.com. "Just because Jon wants to pursue something outside his show with Kate, doesn't mean that he still doesn't love his kids, and that his kids aren't number one in his life."

I do agree with you about the interviews. It really isn't fair but I think they allow Kate to do interviews because she is for the show and won't say anything damaging. Jon on the other hand is a loose cannon so TLC doesn't want him speaking.

The ET and Insider segments have obviously already been taped. I wonder when he did the interviews? After Larry yesterday?

They must have Kate locked in a closet somewhere to keep her from showing up on some show somewhere. Maybe she'll break out and do a fence interview. :rotfl:

It is not that much money in exchange for selling their kids to TLC! It wasn't worth it.

The lawyer said something about asking TLC to pay the kids an additional 500,000 (to be split-for their work on the show as actors). There is more to this involving the labor dept. Those kids do deserve pay from TLC for their work. I hope they get it.

the law in pennsylvania is written such it will be an uphill battle for the gosselin kids to get anything after the fact. the line from tlc and BOTH gosselins has always previously been that the kids were not "acting" or "performing" and therefore exempt from child labor laws. even if they were they were'nt legaly able to do so until the age of 7-so the labor board could shut those of the kids out that have'nt reached the age of 7, but i think either parent would be hard pressed to get the labor board to turn around and require tlc to pay for what was essentialy an illegal act (tlc could get fined but the fines go to the state not to the kids).

i suspect that contract is air-tight, given the negative publicity the family received dating back to pre-divorce about weather the kids were 'working' or not, there are plenty of agencies and individuals in pennsylvania that are required to enforce these laws-including local police AND the schools. given that it's no secret that the gosselin kids were participating in this, and obviously missing school (we've seen them doing week day morning news shows outside their home state) it would be hard to fathom that the school(s) they attended/now attend, the school district they live in, and local law enforcement have'nt made the family and tlc provide documentation and the required sworn statments the state requires to show the kids are exempt from the labor laws.

i think it's also very telling that neither jon nor his lawyer made mention of the investigating pennsylvania did/may still be doing that dates back to at least june. if the state had evidence that supported jon's claims it would be a slam dunk to shut down the show-would'nt matter what either parent or tlc wanted. kids in that state under the age of 7 CANNOT work in an on going entertainment job-end of story.

just because 'the coogan law' came into being did'nt mean jackie coogan got the monies his parents mishandled, he just got a law named after him. i suspect and hope that one of the very few good things we might see out of this situation is what may come to be referred to as 'the gosselin law'-which while it could idealy protect future children will likely have little consequence (financialy) for any 'lost' earnings of the gosselin kids.

Putting everything aside...I think they should cancel the show. Always thought that after the divorce annoucement for sure. I know I saw several people saying it here too. Even if I'm not impressed with Jon's behavior or Kate's, I'm glad filming is being put on hold. Obviously it would have faired better if Jon had done this before all his crazy behavior but he didn't so I guess this is how it's playing out.

I'm ready for Kate's next interview now....or should I say TLC's. That was my favorite part of last night when Jon said "that sounds like a TLC response", when listening to "Kate's" reponse. Ive always thought she says everything she's suppose to say. Which isn't always bad either.
