I definitely agree with the bolded part. But I would say that Kate has done best at selling the brand. In every interview she's done since filing for divorce, she's said something to make me cringe (whether it was a dig at Jon or giving out too much information on how the kids are handling the divorce) but really none of those things were any different than how she behaved towards Jon and the kids on the show. She makes it sound like continuing the show was the very best thing she could do for her kids, and she has sold that idea quite well IMO.

Jon, on the other hand, couldn't even buy a suit or a pair of shoes without a ton of criticism about how he was spending his money (the same black suit and shoes that he has been wearing all summer). Funny how we haven't had the same type of comments re new outfits that Kate has been wearing ie. nobody said "nice dress she wore on The View. Must be new. Wonder how much she paid for that dress and shoes." Is it because Jon has been acting like such an idiot that we just hate everything he does, however harmless?

Seems to me we want to feel like Kate is doing/did the right thing -- I know as a woman I would like to be able to choose her side, but I just can't.

The View provides the Host with the outfits they wear everyday they have a stylist. They do not get to keep the clothes.

ITA with everything (especially the bolded part) although I haven't been able to watch the show for a long time -- Kate is so different from me (I think I'm more like Jon, or how he would like to be). My mom likes Jon too. We're pretty laid back, active people who would rather go hiking than shopping and would never worry about getting dirty because we would never be on TV. Yes, I can say never -- we enjoy our lives so much right now and IMO it wouldn't be worth sacrificing what makes us truly happy.

I'm more like Kate...indoor girl here! But I would never be on TV. My daughters were trying to sign me up for "What Not To Wear". I told DH if he signs anything letting them film me there would be Be Trouble.

Kate was never into fashion & John used to shop for her. I'm the same way. She is looking good these day I have to say. I can identify with Kate. I run the house & a big part of our business. If I slacked off it would not be good.

A girl I use to work with just posted pictures of her new haircut on facebook. She got the "Kate".

It actually looks pretty good on her but I am just so shocked that this haircut is actually becoming mainstream.

I agree, Hailey has enough money from her father. Plastic surgeons are at the top of the food chain (money wise).

Larry King asked Kate something in his interview about why are you letting TLC dictate to you?? She looked like a deer in headlights!!!

As for the dad, I have a "friend" (cousin's boyfriend is probably the easiest way to explain) who is a plastic surgeon who's worked on VERY famous people (Nicole Kidman is one of them) and he'snot handing out money left and right (at least to my knowledge - maybe I'm missing out! ) He and my cousin have a very comfortable life and both love what they do and that's what's important.

How "should" you answer that question - you can agree that yes TLC tells you what to do or you can deny it and risk your relationship with your employer. That would be like putting you in that situation and asking if your husband/boss/child/whoever controls you - if you're afraid of the person named, you're not going to know how to answer right away or be so shocked by the question it might take a minute to get an answer together. I'd probably be "stunned" too but think I'm the more "controling" one in our household.

Actually, while everything you say is true......I wonder if it applies to Jon and Kate. They have both said they don't have a formal legal agreement of who gets the kids on what days, they both said they work it out amoung themselves.

I thought Jon said in the "fence post interview" that he showed the cops something and they said it was a custody issue and to work it out amongst themselves. If Kate thought the kids were in danger and they had NOTHING in writing to say he had the kids that day, why wouldn't she be allowed in? It's still (I'm assuming) "their" house. I still think he was stupid to padlock the gate too. Me, I would have went to the hardware store, got me some bolt cutters and went back there!

Now the shocker of the evening was a commercial for myphilly.com ( I think that was the internet site) It has a guy under house arrest for a white collar crime. The only thing I do know is that they're all crazy. Or maybe we're the crazy ones.

I do agree about the part about Jon having dirt on Kate. Why he hasn't spilled it yet, I have no idea. Maybe someone gave him some sound advice for once.

Funny, I was thinking about this incident last night when I was thinking about how posters characterize Jon's and/or Kate's actions. I remembered that several posters thought that Jon shouldn't have had the gate locked in case there was an emergency (but in reality, they'd have criticized him if he had left the gate open for the paparazzi to roam their property). Somebody mentioned that no matter what Jon does it backfires -- they were right.

I can't see where any article said the gate was padlocked -- they said Jon refused to let her in the gate. I'm assuming it's an electric gate that can be security locked from the house (much like an electric garage door opener, they can set it so that it can only be opened from the security panel) and has a motion sensor to exit the property.

I think you are right about clothing being an option.

I know I have seen Whoopi show off her shoes (she loves shoes) and when someone has complimented Barbara on her outfit she has told the others that it was "vintage" Chanel that she has had for over 20 years.

P. S. I guess I had better say something about Jon and Kate to keep my post relevant. I lurk on this thread but I have only watched J&K over a year ago when I was on bedrest. I have not watched another episode but I see them in all the tabloids while checking out at the grocery store.

You are right, I heard Barbara say that one time about her outfits. And I remember they had a "behind the scenes" show one time and they showed the stylists showing Elizabeth and Sherry different outfit choices to pick from.

So...this must have been filmed on Wed. since it looks like they're not discussing the dogs at all. And Kate asked to be given some time to adress the Stephanie article, at which point she rehashed the whole calling the police incident.

One statement she made that did stand out: "I'm used to being in control of everything, but now I have to realize that we are 2 different entities" Whoopie didn't give her an easy time about going to the house that day -- ITA with Whoopie, that Kate could have been arrested and what good would that have done?

know that my criticisms are not necessarily Kate specific .. but someone needs to tell her how to sit. (I'd say the same thing about anyone else) It's awful.

I still want to know if she really could have been arrested. I went back and watched Jon's fence interview about what happened and he didn't say he showed the police officer anything, he just said said "I told the cop it was my day." I still think with no formal/official court agreement, Kate could not have been arrested.

I'd also love to know how Kate found out about Stephanie being there. We heard at one point that Mady or Cara had called her about it. I have to say I would cut her some slack if one them did call her upset about it. I have no way of knowing if they did, but can sort of understand a knee jerk reaction to go over there if that is what happened. I'm not condoning it at all, being that she was the one that called the police, she knew it might get nasty, but I can't be quite as harsh as Whoopi. And Kate admitted a few times it was the wrong thing to do.
