I swear that woman must have a running dialogue in her head while she is doing anything thinking how she will sound telling it to the media or to the camera while she is sitting on the couch.

So you really think that as a Mother while telling her child that they were getting divorced that she was thinking about what she would say later to the news?

Question for all of the experts!

I keep hearing about Kate and a bodyguard, I know I have seen pictures of the two of them in an airport, etc.

But some people have made comments about Kate and her bodyguard, implying that something is going on. Is this true, and if so could you please give me a link to it...thanks!

That's all there is. Pictures of them at an aiport, in North Carolina and I think at the house. There is no proof. Media speculation. He is a bodyguard hired by TLC. I haven't seen him or any pictures of them lately.

Everyone keeps assuming that Jon will be paying Kate child support. I know it works differently in every state but there is a good chance that she could end up paying him child support AND alimony.

Think about it, he has been the primary caregiver (I know he's had help yada, yada), while she has been out touring and promoting her book. SHE is the one who has been bringing in the money. If they truely are doing a 50/50 split at the house then she will be paying him because he has been a "SAHD", if he can also prove that he has been the primary caregiver and gave up his job so she could work then she could end up paying alimony as well.

And it really seems like he has already kicked the cameras out of the house when he is there alone with the kids -- just looking at the clips on Youtube, etc., I don't see any where he's hanging out with the kids alone, only her. Maybe that's what she meant when she said she had to protect herself and her kids -- maybe he's refusing to allow any taping. It wouldn't surprise me. Half the time he seems to have the attitude of "I'm only talking to this camera because I have a contract and I have to"

As a separated or divorced parent, here anyway, Jon might have more power to break the contract and keep his kids off camera ie. when people are married they don't have to get the other parent's permission to sign a contract on their child's behalf.

Nope -- there's only a picture of the bodyguard talking to Jon. But I'm pretty sure the paparazzi have tried really hard to find some scandalous picture of Kate.

For that matter, they've done the same with Jon. And if the only thing they could come up with was what we've seen, I'd say there's nothing to find. Heck! my closest friend from university is a guy, and we've been seen out together at 2 am.

The cheating angle really isn't needed in this divorce -- they obviously weren't getting along very well at all, if we assume (and we should) that they were prettying things up for the camera. I'm pretty sure that TLC wouldn't just put the scenes of them arguing on the show if there were anything else that could be used -- they would have never signed up for additional seasons if that had been the case. Sorry, but I think we've seen the best of that marriage -- what went on when the cameras weren't there must have been ugly.

As for not watching/not talking about this show, I have to say for a long time I've felt like it was a repeat of the Dionne quintuplets, although they were taken away from their parents to be paraded in front of the cameras. But at least there's no video out there of them potty-training, etc. Those poor kids.

So, yes -- I'm not a show watcher, but yes -- I'm really interested in how this plays out. I hoping we'll see a change in how kids are treated in reality shows. At least with Little People Big World (one of DD's favourite shows) the kids were old enough when the series began to voice an opinion about whether they wanted to do it and what would be shown.

If they were responsible parents they would set aside some of that money they are making from exploiting the kids to take care of the kids. At this point living a resonable lifestyle they should have fully funded 8 college educations and trust funds for each child. Lets face it TLC or nobody else would be interested in a show called John and Kate. It's the plus eight that makes anyone interested. Based on their current life style of a million dollar house, a vacation home in Park City, plus all the other toys you see them with they are using what is basically the kids money to fund their well above average lifestyle.

Are you absolutely sure they haven't done this? I don't think anyone could argue the fact that these parents love their children so I'm sure their future has been secured in some way or other. I do watch this show and I do it because I love seeing these kids. They are amazing. It's sad what they are going through right now. No matter how much anyone can say that they are better off without their parents' fighting any child would much rather have life go on with both mom and dad right there in the same house together. That's human nature. I think they would be heartbroken to hear folks refer to their lives as a trainwreck. And if people weren't interested in this family I don't think this show would have the ratings that it has. It's just a shame that Jon and Kate couldn't find a way to make it to the finish line.

Kate says she was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome. You are right they didn't try long at all to get pregnant. It has always raised eyebrows that she was only 24 and Jon 22 when they began fertility treatments and had been married less than six months. She then shopped around for a second doctor to undergo fertility treatments when the twins were just two, which later resulted in the sextuplets. Rumor has it the first doctor said, no to the second go around. Has Jon had a vesectomy? I thought (for some reason) Kate had her tubes tied.

That is something she may have known about before she was even married. I had the same problem and was told before I was even dating that I would have trouble getting pregnant. I was told the 'usual' was to wait for any treatment until not getting pregnant for 12 months after starting to try. But I was told that since I already had a known problem, I should come in for help when we were ready to start trying.

Because she can get pregnant!!!! Women with the syndrome she is "reported" to be diagnosed with can still get pregnant. It may just be harder for them. There are different degrees of the syndrome. They may not ovulate at all, making it impossible to get pregnant, or they may ovulate less often. Making it a little harder and take a while longer to hit a cycle where they ovulated. Apparently, Kate's syndrome is not that bad (if she has it at all - remember she was nurse, and knows the answers to give to questions to get a fertility doctor to treat you) Rumor is she pretty much lied the first go around about how long she had been trying. She had always wanted twins and was over-interested in multiples and the attention that the Macauheys (sp?) received. She wanted multiples. She did not have the eggs fertilized outside of her body and then have the embryos implanted, she took a drug that stimulates egg production. Then she got prego the old fashioned way. She became pregant immediately with the twins, and the doctor told her the second time she showed up , that no, she didn't need the drug, she would be fine on her own, and the chance of multiples was too high. So then she went doctor shopping. Found a doctor that must not be that ethical, and received the same type of drug. She was hospitalized after this for over-stimulated ovaries (probably because healthy ovaries will react this way when given this drug), which means that she was producing way too many eggs. They were told NOT to have sex, to wait until the next cycle, that having sex would result in a large number of multiples, and guess what she ran home and did?

So THAT is why Jon would get snipped. Because Kate CAN get pregnant. She is just such a control freak, she couldn't leave anything to chance and wanted to be pregnant immediately and wanted to control the number of babies.

Well, the "feeling" may have been becuase of irregular cycles, or no cycles at all. I had / have PCOS, and when I wasn't on the pill, I had no period for months. Pretty easy to assume, even without a conclusive diagnosis, that I would have trouble conceiving.

Some forms of PCOS can be diagnosed pretty simply via blood test, which could be done by a regular physician, not necessarily a RE.

Even though it was not in our master plan, as soon as I found out I would have trouble conceiving, we started trying.

DD#2, born less than a year after DD#1 was born, is living proof of that.

This happened with me. My OB gave me fertility drugs right away when I told her I wanted to get pregnant. She told me that with my history there was no reason to wait 12 months. Maybe this happened with Kate as well.

How in the world do YOU know all of this to be true? Were you in the Dr.'s office with them??? Why would you make statements like this, and act as if they were fact, when in reality, I highly doubt you even know the Gosselins, let alone got info. from their Dr. I mean, how would you like it, if I started making statements as if they were fact about you and your medical records?

isn't that the truth. and not just here. the internet in general. anonymity does that to a person, I guess ... although that isn't really true in Kate's case. I highly doubt she planned out what she was going to say to the children and the media at the same time. I am disappointed that Kate chose to share that with the world, though, especially after TLC made a point of saying that they were keeping everything private (where the children were concerned).
