I remember going to a concert in 9th grade to seem my favorite group: New Kids.

Long story short--parents weren't going to let me get crappy seats, so they bought a 4th row ticket and another ticket near by on the 1st row near the stage of the next level for a friend. We went with a group of our friends who were wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy up high in the upper level.

I had my lovely little 4th row seat and the perfect spot to enjoy the concert.

My friends afterwards said that if they knew that I would stand their looking bored they would have demanded trading seats.

But I had fun. No I didn't rush the stage--no I didn't go "Danny--be my boyfriend" or stupid stuff like that, but it doesn't mean I Didn't enjoy myself. I may have even yawned once or twice b/c it was late. I didn't run up to the stage like everyone else b/c as soon as they would reach the stage, security would move them away.

And I got to see Donnie in his little cage hanging over my head. At that moment--not so much enjoying myself as praying that I wouldn't be flattened by a falling cage.:scared1:

I am taking my girls to see Demi Lovato and we have up front seats somewhere. We won't be rushing the stage. The girls may sit or they may stand.

But we don't worship those whom we enjoy being entertained by. So next to screaming fan dressed like Demi--we may look like odd ducks who were forced against our will to watch a concert. (Plus those concerts run late and after going through several opening acts, one often wants to pull there hair out of boredom.)

We will see David Archuleta (sp?) from AI and some kid I have never heard of. At that moment, my butt may be plopped in my chair texting my husband.

Oh--and I'll be wearing ear plugs. I have tinitus and I really don't need a whole night of louder ringing than I am already stuck with.

We have VIP tickets so we will be at our seats for a sound check at 4pm.

It could be that maybe the girls got their early b/c they went back stage.

On our voucher--it states that personal cameras are okay and professional and video cameras are not. So perhaps for once, TLC couldn't get clearance to document any VIP stuff that they got to do.

I love music, but am not a big fan of concerts--but I am taking my kids to one for the experience. I fear that they may not like the decibals either so will have ear plugs handy for them so that they can better enjoy the show.

ITA. Go in after the lights are down, and don't arrive in a limo if you want to be incognito. I've never understood parents basing the activities they take their kids to solely on their own likes and dislikes. Isn't seeing your kids enjoy something enjoyment enough? I don't love riding Dumbo, but I sure loved seeing my three year olds on it their first times! My mom took me to Shaun Cassidy when I was 8, and she was excited for me, and loved seeing us squealing and singing along. Seeing mom disengaged could put a damper on the twins' big Jo Bro evening.

Exactly. My DD's first big concert was Hillary Duff. I wasn't a fan (especially after hearing the same CD about 1000 times) but it was so exciting for her it was contagious.

And for posters who thought the girls might not have enjoyed it because they weren't really that into the Jo Bros (I'm having a hard time imagining that) why would they be taken to the concert at all if they didn't like their music? Was it nothing more than a publicity stunt?

Read my post above about going to see New Kids on the Block.

I loved them, my friends and I would sing relentlessly about the group. BEGGED and BEGGED for tix.

But it is like I turn into instant introvert at a venue. I sit calmly and enjoy myself--I might look like I'm in deep thought or something.

My friends were PO'd at my lack of fanhood and I cannot tell you how annoying it was to have to defend myself as though I did something wrong.

I also have tinitus--so while I enjoy the music--it is just toooooo darn loud. But at the time, it was fun.

Here is some different concert info (I think). They were not in box seats. Do you think she was checking our thread in this picture? ;)

She was absolutely in the club box section! My dd was at the concert (club box 3), and was but a few feet from her. In fact dd has a pic of her, blurry but still none the less you can see her. The 'club box' section at Wachovia has quite a number of rows, so it may appear she is in a regular section, but these were club box seats. Just look at the Wachovia seating and you will see. Here is a virtual view of my dd's seat via the Wachovia Web Site:

Click on the link, scroll to the top menu and click on club boxes, and then the different boxes will highlight as you go over them. Go to club box 2-3. Once you click on it , it gives you a virtual view of the seats. You can even see the wall in back of her, that is in the above mentioned photo of her. So she wasn't sitting with the regular folks. In my previous post, I did mentioned that folks evin that section where jumping over from other boxes to take pics of her. DD said it was pretty creepy.

Ummm... why would they want to be seated early? I'd have gone in at the last minute when it was dark -- isn't that what real celebrities do? But I suppose everything had to be geared to PR, from arriving at the front of the arena in a stretch to being there waiting for her fans. :confused3

And I can't imagine spending the concert texting on my phone -- must be nice to be so rich that you find a Jonas Brothers concert boring.

No wonder the girls didn't have a good time.

who said the girls didn't have a good time?

DH and I took the girls to see N SYNC back when they popular. We actually drove all the way to Washington DC to see them because that was the closest place I could get tickets. We made a long weekend of it. Anyhow, if you saw us there you would have thought that the 2 older girls were having a bad time because they sat and watched. My youngest was on her feet dancing and singing (luckily she was small and didn't block anyones view). DH sat there looking utterly bored..but he enjoyed watching the kids...and me, I was head bopping and singing along. My kids will tell you even today how much fun they had but looking at them there you would have never known it.

Okay, I get it now. In Milwaukee, each suite has w rows of seats like that, but there is a plexy glass in front of the 2 rows. When people stand up in front of the plexi glass, we still can skim over there heads. If a celebrity was sitting in one of these suites in Milwaukee, they would have to reach over the plexy glass for an autograph. It would be hard, but it still could be done.
The girls were probably bored, because they were so far away and it probably was like watching tv for them.

My dh boss gave up his suite for 4th row seats, because his dd's said they were to far away, when they saw Hannah Montana.

I don't think they are different .. although I could be mistaken. A lot of Gymboree's lines look very similar.

The dress is from the Lady Daisy (2008) line:

you are right. I swear I saw adifferent yellow dress though. I don't think I'm going to try to look though--I bet you're just correct. I'm old...LOL

Hey! Anybody notice what Kate is NOT wearing in this photo?

Here's a hint: It rhymes with Bling (which she is wearing) --

yes, i posted this last night as when looking at concert pics. yay! I'm glad she removed it. i would have too! :cool1:

My first concert was aaron carter :lmao:

I'm 15 almost 16 but I consider my "first real" rock concert was The Used .. but now I consider it to be My Chemical Romance with MUSE!
But then .. I remember Foo Fighters :lovestruc

Completely agree with your post!:thumbsup2

I went to my first concert when I was 14 and saw Bon Jovi! I was so excited to be there that I literally stood and watched like a statue. I loved every minute of it but if someone were watching me, they'd probably think I was bored or something!

So what if Kate was texting during the concert. If it was something I wasn't crazy about seeing, then I'd have brought something to do too. Concerts are long and the time seems to drag. I don't find it strange that she was on her phone at all. I'm sure there are parents (not you Michelle VW!) who would find a Jonas Bros. concert boring. Kate's being rich has nothing to do with it.

Lucky duck! My first concert was Rick Springfield.

If Kate had been with just Cara or just Mady then her being on the phone wouldn't have been cool. But the twins had each other and they had a friend along, mom should be able to tune out if she so desired.

Captioned under that photo is

To me, that pic was probably taken shortly after they have settled themselves. The girls aren't watching the concert (hasn't started yet), they are doing what 8 year old girls do (and that includes ignoring Mom), and Kate is doing what a Mom who has taken her kids out to a concert does while she waits for it to start. Maybe she's playing a game on her phone. :confused3

My first concert was Ike and Tina Turner, then David Cassidy. (for those youngins, goggle them):goodvibes

My first concert was The Beach Boys.
I was probably 14. I went with a boy who was 13. His parents took us and I loved it. But I am sure the look on my face wasn't saying that. I was overwhelmed, didn't know every song (only the ones most people who have heard of the BB know of) and his parents were dancing in the aisles! I was shocked and mortified! I just stood there, did not clap along or anything.

I have seen the Beach boys countless times over the years. Saw them last fall as a matter of fact. While I do not dance in the aisles, I do dance at my seat. I am now the embarrassing parent.

My 1st concert was DuranDuran. 5 girls & 2 moms. I can't begin to tell you what the Mom's were doing, didn't give them a 2nd thought, but I'm sure they weren't dancing to RIO. I bet looking back they would've loved to have been able to text during.

Great, now RIO is in my head. I love DuranDuran!

Mine was Elton John, I was 7 and I ended up puking at the end of the concert. But I couldn't wait to go to school the next day to tell everyone how good the concert was.

My first concert was 10,000 Maniacs. Yes, I was a card-carrying Maniac. I sat in the 2nd row of Shea's theater in Buffalo and it was an experience, let me tell you. I was 13 and I'll never forget it.
