Jon and Kate Plus 8 Official Thread - Part 5

I can't read the link (darn work filters) but if this is the case that's ridiculous. And if he brings the girlfriends around the house where I would imagine Kate will make her primary residence then I can see the "house sharing" arrangement going out the window. No way would I let another woman live in my home on weekends. :sad2: Of course, this is all just my speculation.

Will TLC change the name of its drama-filled show from "Jon & Kate Plus 8" to "Jon & Kate Plus 9"?
In light of the Gosselins' divorce announcement on Monday night (watched by a record 10.6 million viewers), no, they won't be having any more children, thanks. However, a carefully placed source tells us that Jon's reported girlfriend, 23-year-old Deanna Hummel, is expected to join the show next season.
Although the network announced Tuesday that it was pulling the plug on the remaining new episodes of the hit series, the show will resume on Aug. 3 with Deanna on board.
"Deanna's role isn't expected to be big, but because she's part of Jon's life, she'll be filmed," says our insider. The source added that the show will focus primarily on how Jon and Kate are raising their brood separately. As of now, the duo plans to flip-flop the days they reside in the house so the children will not have to shuttle between their parents.
A spokeswoman for TLC confirmed the show's hiatus and announced that, in lieu of the new episodes, a retrospective of the couple's first 10 years will air instead. "During this time, the family will take some time off to regroup," said the rep. Of Deanna's appearance, the spokeswoman would say only, "We have no specific plans for future episodes."
For now, Jon and Kate are just trying to get by day to day. Ironically, in the wake of the on-air divorce declaration, the entire Gosselin clan is finally residing in their multimillion- dollar Pennsylvania home together. Although Kate had not been seen at the home in four days (Jon even told reporters on Father's Day that he didn't know when she'd be back), she returned to her family shortly before midnight on Monday.
A pal of Kate's says that, since making the announcement, a huge weight has been lifted from her shoulders.
"She has been taking some time to think about her life," said the pal. "She's upset about what's going on, but she and Jon will always be there for their children, and they'll always come first on her list of priorities. But considering she's in the middle of a divorce, Kate is quite upbeat."
Said Kate in Tuesday night's telecast, "I'm tired of smiling on the outside and crying on the inside."
Now, it appears, her happiness is for real.

I am disgusted! I will never watch this show again! Poor Kate!

Ok, I have to jump on the bandwagon here and say from what I've read these past couple of pages, everyone seems to be blaming Jon. What about if TLC decides to show Kate's bodyguard on the show? Will you not watch then either? There are rumors that she has been having an affair with him - it's the same as the rumors of Jon having an affair.

I blame them both. Not one or the other. You have 8 kids, they both need to man up, get some counseling, stop the show and work on the marriage. Kate needs to stop doing all these book signings and stay home. Some one posted a while back that out of 30 days she was away for 20 or something like that...c'mon.

And, she didn't phrase "The show must go on" as a question. It was a statement. She likes the money...who wouldn't? But when it comes down to tearing your family apart I think I would put it on hold.

Dreagirl thanks for posting the article.

And if I was Kate, this is the time for the hissy fit. No way in heck would I allow the "other woman" to be filmed or get any money from this show. If she truly is the witch that people claim her to be, now is the time for it to come out. Again, just my 2 cents. :rolleyes1

I may be a bit biased because my Dsis's ex cheated on her. The new girlfriend was 6 months pregnant before the ink was dry on the divorce decree (and their divorce took 9 months only - start to finish). Anyway, I've seen how this has impacted my niece and wouldn't wish this on any child. It's not so much the new child that has bothered her but the fact that this woman will always have some part of her life as the mother of her half-brother. Make sense? There is a huge amount of resentment.

And yes, Kate should stop speaking to the media. But if what they are saying on the Today show is accurate, maybe that's why Kate is trying to get her side out. The woman from People said that Kate told her Jon told her that he was getting a divorce and she needed to get an attorney. If that's truly how it went down (again, only Kate's side) then I don't blame her for being bitter and going to People. I'm not saying it's right. But I can understand her pain. Again, we only have one side and the other side is saying he's "excited". Eyeroll is meant for both Jon and Kate.

Until it happens, I'm having a hard time believing this is going to happen. Are they forgetting all of the evidence that Jon is trying to get out of the TV contract, that he will no longer appear on the show, and is trying to fly under the radar even now when his reputation is being trampled all over the place? But I can see why they would have to cover the girlfriend for appearances -- if they're still together a year from now, TLC might accidentally film her at birthday parties, etc, and they would have to get a release from her to allow the shots into the show.

If the show continues, I predict that it will be filmed only on the weeks that Kate is in the house, that we've seen the last of Jon on TV until he decides to write a book somewhere down the road.

As for the house being Kate's home, well it's his too. And they've obviously been doing the trade-off for some time. Better they don't share any space together, since now that it's over he doesn't have to take anything from her -- being in the same space with her ranting at him all the time would lead to some horrible arguments in front of the kids.

What I find most shocking is that there will be a Season 6! Enough already! Cancel this show and go live your private lives. All of the kids will be in school now and they need privacy to grow up, not their Mom and Dad on People Magazine every week talking about their marriage! Go away and raise your kids! We are all sick of the drama and the pain!

I'm tired of giving Jon and Kate the benefit of the doubt. Jon Gosselin stood in his front yard on Father's Day telling people to watch the show. And he appeared to enjoy doing so. Higher ratings = more money. The show must go on.

I think this is the wrong perspective on that. Jon won't answer questions from the media on the spot, and his public statements will only be through the show or his lawyer -- I can easily imagine him losing his cool with some reporter asking personal questions in his front yard on Father's Day. Would you really have expected him to stand there and do interviews on Father's Day?

One more thing - all of this talk about talking to the media to get their side out stuff is not right. WHo cares what the world thinks - they should be concentrating on what their children think and feel and not on whose side the media and public is taking!

I agree with Madge. My take on it is that Jon never should have gone down to the gate. After watching that American Chopper episode and seeing how long that driveway actually is, he made it a point to interact with "fans" and the "p" people. I believe he could have easily have moved the kids to the backyard and ignored the entire situation.

I didn't care for the comment on Today show where the lady said something about the kids love their dad because he's the daddy but they've seen him change right before their eyes.

I think the kids reactions and how they feel should be left out of the print. And yes kids do love their parents especially at that age no matter what.

And I dont believe those gossip sites at all. They all tell a different story and every day I come here and everyone takes them as the gospel...even if they contradict the story everyone believed the day before.

Sure does show what their priorities are. Money and fame. :sad2:

It's not like gaining respect is a priority. There are prominent familes in my community that everyone respects. They got what they have by working hard, doing things right, living good respectable lives. Seems these 2 just decided to skip over the "doing what is right" part to get to the notoriety. No one in their community respects them for it. They are looked down upon. So what have they gained? (except for money and fame?) And as we are all seeing, money does not bring happiness.

Their children have to go to school with these huge scarlet letters of shame on them. (although their scarlet letters are not red "A"'s, they are big green dollars signs) Sad and sick, what these parents have done to thier kids for "things".

Okay, so two days ago Kate filed for divorce and somehow in everything that has been going on it has been discussed and decided that the girlfriend is going to be on the show? I find that impossible to believe. TLC decides to put the show on hiatus and then what? Calls Jon and says "Hey, let's have Deanna on the new episodes!" Please.

And I meant everyone as it those who believe them...I know there are some here who don't.

Sorry if I offend anyone by "grouping"

My best hope is that they end up with a judge that doesn't put up with either of their (sometimes) bizarre priorities. The kids need an advocate-a judge that puts them first would be wonderful. Don't know too much about PA justice, but it would be great if J&K were ordered to counseling and also gagged about the ongoing proceedings.

Newtodis...thank you for all the articles! :thumbsup2

Welcome. I know we like our information! :goodvibes

QUOTE
Jon and Kate announced their separation on their TLC reality show Monday night. "I am deeply saddened that we are divorcing, and also hurt by the statement Kate made last night about the divorce. I have always done everything I can to protect our family."

He comments on his Father's Day, "This weekend, I was home with the kids for four days, just being a dad. No nannies, just the kids and me. In fact, with the exception of Aaden's visit to the doctor, I couldn't have imagined a better way to spend Fathers Day weekend."

Jon continues, "The one thing I do agree with in Kate's statement is her desire to resolve things amicably. Of course emotions are running high for both of us right now, but for the sake of our children and our family's privacy, I hope that we can both limit our public comments about the legal proceedings going forward."

I personally don't think Jon did "everything he could" to protect the family - but that's just me and what I've read here and seen on the show....

If there were no nannies, who did Jon call to stay with the other kids when he had to take Aiden to the doctor?? Not accusing - just asking honestly.

I think the statement about limiting public comments right now is something the media/PR people had him throw in there. Jon's statement sounds very much put together - not anything like he sounded on the show during the interviews....not saying it's not his words, but I think he had some help. And I think he needs to talk to TLC and Kevin and Jodi about making comments as well then - not just he and Kate....

Kate would be the primary parental resident, living there M-Th; Jon would be able to stay in the house F-Sun. as was stated elsewhere in this thread being the tentative agreement.

As far as who gets what bedroom, etc., it would be practical that Kate gets the master bedroom and Jon gets another bedroom with it's own bath. Both Kate's and Jon's rooms will be locked down when they are not at the house.

IDK, but I'd suspect that after awhile, commuting back and forth from NYC will get old and his new bachelor/clubbing lifestyle or a new job will eventually lead to fewer weekend visits back home with the kids.

I think they'll continue doing the show as long as TLC lets it run. It's their income, their livelihood for the time being.

I can't imagine Kate giving up every weekend with them! Maybe switch out every week or something like that...who knows. I know there's no way I would give up every weekend with my kids.

I agree - I would think in a house that size, there is more than one "master" bedroom. I'm sure someone could pull up the listing from if/when the house was on the market and figure that out. I would think they would both have "secure" areas while they're not at the house.

I would think the same about Jon's possible life style - if he goes that route.

According to the statement from TLC, it sounds like no one has plans to cancel the show which is ok by me right now....I think they're smart to keep the show going to keep the income for the time being. If they didn't have the show, the p people and rumors and accusations, I think, would get MUCH worse in light of the recent decisions.

The article I read stated the kids missed school to go to NC. I didn't check their school schedules though, so can't be absolutely sure.

I read that too - or maybe heard it on the E! special the other night. The girls missed a couple of days but the little kids missed the last two or three weeks or something like that.

Kate will be on the Today show this morning. "She will talk about how they told the kids they were divorcing and how it is too painful to take off her wedding ring."

She was also scheduled to be on GMA this morning. I only saw the little snippet of it when they were talking about what was going to be on the show. I dvr'd it and will post the link below.

Do she didn't but she did nothing to affair proof her marriage. Lets face it people have affairs because of how the other person, the one you are having the affair with, makes you feel.

Can't say I agree with that. I view it more as the "easy" way out....if you want to be with someone else, you tie up what you're committed to at the time and move on first. It's hard to explain here (as opposed to in person)...DH and I don't have a wonderful relationship and I have guy friends that make me feel wonderful - always say the "right" thing, ect. No way does that mean I'm going to have an affair with any of them. If I don't want to be with DH, then I need to tie that up first and move on. (not saying I'm doing that - just trying to give an example)

New 'Jon & Kate Plus 8' episodes will include Jon Gosselin's new girlfriend

http://www.nydailynews.com/gossip/2009/06/24/2009-06-24_new_jon_and_kate_plus_.html

I wonder if she'll be "introduced" as Jon's friend or if she'll take on like home schooling the kids or the nanny while they're with Jon??? She's got the education/experience for the home schooling/nanny stuff....will be interesting to see how it all plays out. I hope they're all decent and respectful around the kids.

My best hope is that they end up with a judge that doesn't put up with either of their (sometimes) bizarre priorities. The kids need an advocate-a judge that puts them first would be wonderful. Oh a gag order would be AWESOME!:thumbsup2 Jon should run not walk to the couarts and see if he get get Kate gagged!

She is so controling, she is hitting all the media outlets trying to get "her side" out (which is the the story she has concocted in her mind and wants us to believe) She doesn't just care about what her family thinks (obviously, if people in her family don't think the way she wants them to, she just cuts them out fo her life) She needs to control what all of us are thinking about her too. All while collecting a nice little check from People magazine.

Would you really have expected him to stand there and do interviews on Father's Day?

He answered questions about Deanna Hummel, going to clubs, and smoking without any hesitation. It was only when asked about the status of the relationship with Kate did Jon tell people to watch the show.

I guess this is what Jon meant yesterday when he said he wishes that things would stay out of the media.

In reading the article, it says they were making Father's Day cards for Jon, but he would not be around for Father's Day. Did I read somewhere else where Jon was out front of the property signing autographs and talking to the media? If so, something is not right.:confused3
