Jon and Kate Plus 8, Official Thread-Part 3

Just finished reading the People article. Well, Jon is an idiot, I think we ALL can agree on that! But let's not forget that Kate is a clever, determined woman. She has said numerous times that she loves what she's doing, wants to have her own talk show, loves being in the studio. Not only that, she makes no apologies for who she is and how she acts. She knew that this story was important for her to get out there, she's no fool. As a matter of fact I think she's the most shrewd person I've ever come across. Anyhoo, back to the article...

If all the things she claims are true, then it is sad. She is painting a very disparaging picture of Jon, how he didn't want to do the show so she told him to get a job, volunteer, go back to school, etc. It's all very interesting. She wants people to believe that she is the one sacrificing and working hard for her kids. I don't know how I feel about that yet. Apparently she is the ONLY one working for kids by criss-crossing the country to promote her book. It still is a hard pill to swallow thought that she NEEDS to be doing the show, promotions, speaking engagements because of the kids and their future. Unless she and Jon are completely brainless, they should have lots of money stashed away. That argument is getting old in my opinion. Their college fund was started by the Lt. Governor of PA so all Kate really needs to do is have enough $ for them to eat and pay for the house, if TLC hasn't paid for it at least to some extent (they had to construct an interview set in the new house). Again, there are so many large families and they are making it work. I think Kate's problem is that she wants a certain lifestyle (big surprise) for herself and her family that necessitates a larger income than other families. Therefore in her mind, she NEEDS to do all this. Also, if she was SO worried about money and was worried about Jon not wanting to do the show, then why on earth buy such a large house?? The timing of Jon voicing his unhappiness about the show with the new house all fits. I just think that was a foolish move on both their parts. Jon is complaining about how unhappy he is, Kate loves what they're doing so let's add more stress by buying an enormous house! That won't add any pressure or make Kate feel she needs to work more.

Wow, it really does sound like some trashy novel, doesn't it? Well, I can only imagine what the 1st episode will be like then.

Oh, and as far as the affair with her bodyguard, I don't think she did. She isn't THAT stupid and knows if it got out, she'd be done. In the article she addresses this and says she's worked too hard to take herself down in that way. I actually believe that part. Of course I could be wrong...

Bottom line, they both are responsible for their actions. Honestly right now, they are acting like children...he said, she said, blah blah blah. Both of them need to stop running to the tabloids and go home together and hash this thing out. Believe it or not, they owe that to their marriage, each other and their kids.

I agree with you with the "if all she says is true" But how do we know? We are not flies on their walls, we want to be but we aren't! This is a phrase I said over and over when the couple that introduced me and DH were getting a divorce Ah hem! Ready! There is his side, her side and the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

As far as Jon isn't happy just doing the show. I was under the impression that once Jon started working for Bob and coming home shortly before Mady and Cara got home from school Kate saw how easy her life would be if he were home all the time dealing with the kids when she didn't want to so badgered him in to quitting. I could be wrong but it just seemed that way. Lets face it. It's Kate's way or the highway and well I personally don't think a marriage can last in that situation. (And I believe that's why my sister never got married :rotfl:)

So, for Kate's speech, she does say the care is both of them, and not that she is a stay at home mom? It all gets so confusing with so many saying so much different.

I honestly don't remember what Kate said about their day to day care (bath, meals, etc) .. IIRC, she never really got that specific. She mentioned diaper changing and stuff like that when they were babies. The speech I saw, which I think is pretty much the standard Kate speech, mirrored Multiple Blessings. She talked mostly about the earlier years, when they were struggling. The whole theme of the talk I saw was God will provide more than you can imagine if you just trust in Him and pray enough.

With that said, she mentions being a SAHM being the best job, she also comments on how much she enjoys being out doing speaking engagements. It's definitely a mixed message.

Has anyone mentioned on this thread that he does the bulk of their physical care when she is there? I have so missed that, if so. I wonder if it's him or the nanny that does the bulk of the work when she isn't there. I thought his taking the kids for a walk in their woods was something he had to do for the camera's, he so didn't enjoy it. He doesn't seem to be able to get them dressed without Kate laying out the clothes, and I think I have seen him feed them twice. Doesn't seem to me that he has had a lot of their care.
I also wonder if Jon has his signature on the contract for this show, which might play a bit in any court case.

I think control freak Kate HAS TO lay out the kids clothes. She is always telling him when he picks out even a hair tie. It's the wrong one! :confused3

Okay, always been a fan. Of both. Of the show. Never disliked Kate. Hated how she talks to Jon at times. But just see her as human. Faults like all of us.

But I have to say I was sickened - I bought it so I wanted to know but then felt like I was reading intmacies that I shouldn't know...ie. I had no idea she would give all that out - by the article. I don't know how you work on your marriage after giving that interview. I don't know how.

I know Jon did wrong. Hand's down. No arguments. And I believe he did it. Obviously. I'm naive. But who has 23 year old "friends" sunbathing at your house without your wife at home? Really.

But I was still shocked and mortified - despite how Jon has embarassed and hurt her deeply - that she put all of that in print.

I don't know how you go back. I've just always been a firm believer of taking things/problems/feelings back to the source of the issues. For Kate - namely your husband and marriage. I feel so sad for the family - the children.

I feel the same way...which makes me wonder if the marriage is more over then she leads on. Like maybe it's already known that they will end their marriage but they aren't talking about that part yet?

I don't know but I would feel like a fool if my spouse wrote all that in a magazine. Even if he is guilty of being an idiot. I dont know it just makes me wonder how much she really wants to work on the marriage.

Besides she says they are dealing with it privately and now everyone in the world gets to read about it. I would have picked privately. :confused3

the show depicts him when she's there as the one who appears to do a bulk of their physical care

You are right. They never beat around the bush about this. Even when he worked outside the home, he oversaw all 8 baths and pj's. She couldn't get up early when he was working and left the babies in their cribs awake until around 9am, put them back in from 12-4 and he was home around 6pm. Her job was feeding them. After Jon stopped working, he did lots of routine childcare tasks. We saw it on the shows all of the time. Now there is obviously full time help, probably multiple people; I don't know who is taking care of the kids. She seems to be lately more interested in scrubbing a soon to be discarded fridge with a q-tip than taking care of kids. Jon appears to be hands on on the show.

Anyone see them on Good Morning America? That is ABC right?

I think Kate had something to do with Jon being home too. I think she liked it. Do you remember the Disney episode when he wanted to get the trailer and she begged him to go the next day because she was so tired and needed his help? And I think it worked out great for her too because he's "home" while she is out traveling. I think if Jon had just sit back and never said anything about wanting something else, she would have just kept it up. Oh wait she is still keeping it up...which really makes me think the marriage is already over anyway.

I always saw him as being more hands on in the show. He was always getting them dressed and trying to find their shoes.

In my home it's which parent is readily available. If I'm doing dishes, then he is giving our son his bath. If he is out mowing the lawn, then I'm the one changing the diapers. It's never just one of us doing the parenting. Heck now that my son is almost 3, he pretty much pickes who he wants to do something for him. That's always fun too. ;)

So do you guys think that there will a new video on Radar today? I can't imagine what else they would have to say, but then I did not think there would be one yesterday.

Do you have the link to the one posted yesterday???

If they can get paid again to dish more dirt, they will find more to say. That I can guarantee.

Well in all fairness, it's radaronline that is releasing these videos in segments. I'd think that Kevin & Jodi only did one interview and that radaronline is chopping it into segments to release. Didn't you notice that each video they have the same clothes on?:lmao:

I guess I should have asked it differently. I figured it was the same interview. I am just wondering if they said more on it that would be released today. What dirt can be aired today.

I thought I watched the show often, but I must have missed some. I've seen her dressing the kids and doing hair, and many many times have seen her cooking. She seems to have been in the kitchen doing clean up while the kids were eating. I also remember seeing her many times outside with them as they played as they got older.
I always thought they showed the work of the kids pretty evenly divided.
No matter what we saw, of course it was up to TLC to show us what they wanted us to see. If they wanted her to look like she was always picking on Jon, that is what we would see. If they wanted it to look like he did all the work (once he stopped an outside job) that's what we would see.

As for his job with her brother, I thought the gossip at the time when he left that job, was, he wasn't working hard enough and it was decided by Kate's brother he wouldn't work for him anymore.

I'm thinking the same, that there is more of that interview video to come! Radaronline is quite clever to release it the way they have because look how many people are checking their website for updates. :goodvibes

From what I saw, she did do somethings too, but it seemed she was more in the kitchen then anywhere, which I can understand and I only have 3.
I did find it odd that he would get up in the morning to go to work and would have to get the two older girls ready while Kate was asleep and the babies stayed in their crib. I don't know how she was able to do that because mine would have screamed until I got in there. He would even bring her a cup of coffee because she was not a morning person. I am not a morning person either but I am able to get my two older kids ready for school while the baby is sleeping.

I just hate when people say stuff like that " God will provide more than you can imagine if you trust and pray" give me a break Kate. It is like those people who pray to get a good parking space, or pray to get someplace on time and it was their own fault for being tardy. I really hate that, I always tell people who say to prayfor something, ahem my evangelical neighbor, if I am goign to pray for anybody it would be for the children living in the gutter in Bangladesh. Geez it is such a narrcisstic view of life. Like God, whatever you belive God to be, has nothing better to do than worry about your wants.

These were very interesting video's of John. I assume they are about a year old or less. He talks about their families, and friends. Indicates that the friends are still very much a part of their lives, (including Beth and Bob) but did not want to be on the show anymore, because of all the calls they got, and the bothering. Sounds like he is still much in his families lifes. Sounds like Kate is still involved with her siblings, but that her mom is remarried and not involved with any of her grandchildren. Just an interesting watch. Who knows what is true and what isn't.
