Also, someone said something about giving up their show because they have all these other deals. I bet they stay with the show. Miley Cyrus just signed another contract with Disney to play Hannah Montana for another year. Miley Cyrus is projected to earn over a billion, "a billion" dollars in endorsements this year. She knows the best way to keep her face out there, is to remain in her tv show. Young kids see her show, they want her products. She goes off their shows like other "Disney kids have" and they fade away very fast.

You're right. That is the best way to keep the family in the public eye. They're already signed on to do another season, with an option for more. The show is their ticket ... and because of that, I would think Kate could look at least interested. And if she's tired or had a long day, then say so.

My comment upthread (I think that's what you're referencing) was really more rhetorical, although it likely didn't read that way to anyone else. LOL. Are they in a position now to not say yes to every opportunity that comes their way? Will they ever be in that position?

I just watched the show again, (I was half asleep last night when I watched).

Hannah was rotten in telling Aaden that his picture was not pretty. I can't stand when kids do that. It's pretty obvious that Aaden doesn't have the physical coordination of the girls (holding crayons etc), but being preemies and only 4 I don't see it as that big of a deal right now. I used to volunteer in my DD's kindergarten classes and you would see all different levels of coordination.

Alexis was really cute talking about her braids....she cracks me up.

I still can't believe they got puppies and wished they would have gotten pound puppies..

ummm ... I didn't say this. LOLOL. :rotfl:

I did! :lmao:
I did hear him say that about the popcorn button. That is the only way my children allow me to make popcorn. I have been know to burn a couple bags!

Jon made the comment that he decided to make all the appliances the same. Kate was moving around and said the "dishwasher wasn't working and wouldn't clean the dishes" "the microwave wasn't working" and Jon said, "he picked a stainless steal microwave and he love it. You press popcorn and it will pop the popcorn without burning it. Um, I had that on my last 2 micro-waves.

Took the words outta my mouth (keyboard?). As popular as they are, I wouldn't consider them household names just yet. After the Octomom controversy dies down, we'll see what kind of staying power the Gosselins have. They were a novelty at some point, but they aren't so much anymore whether it's due to the other large families in the spotlight or oversaturation. I'm pretty sure at this point, maybe after another season, they'd be set financially, especially if Kate continues in her budget mindset.

While I can't see the entire family remaining in the spotlight too much longer, I think Kate can remain marketable if that's an option she's looking at. While the kiddos won't always have that undeniable cuteness pull (as all our kids grow up way to quickly!!:sad2:), she'll always be the mom of the eight. That can always be marketed to moms, budgeters, etc. If they play it right, and I'm willing to bet they will, they'll continue to be a financially successful family.

My Sunday School kids do that all the time!!! I have two boys (one regularly) in my Sunday School class, and the girls are so catty! "She's not doing it right!" "Don't just scribble!!" I alway react exactly the way Jon did. "It's beautiful, great job!"

P.S. Our last couple microwaves (and our stainless steel!! one) had the popcorn button, too. I understand the excitement. Again, I'm the Dyson texter. :upsidedow

Yeah, I will give Jon credit for reacting the same way that I would have. Girls can be so bratty.

Edited to say that I did NOT call Hannah bratty, I said that girls in general are way more bratty than boys.

Is anyone else scared for those little puppies? I hope the kids treat the puppies better than they treat each other.

I'm not worried about the kids. Puppies will put kids in their place right away (they have sharp little teeth). Mady seems very kind when it comes to animals and remember she is the one that was begging for a puppy in the past. I'm betting how long it is until Kate either gets rid of the puppies or bans them from the house. In the preview for next week one of the pups pees on the floor and Kate says something like, "What did I get myself into?"

I hope you're wrong and the dogs stay in the house. I don't know if I have a lot of hope for that, but I hope the dogs stay inside. I am not a fan of outside animals. (cept my horses, but they are too messy in the house!! ;) )

I just can't see Kate with animals in the house, especially German Shepards, they shed like mad. I have a Golden, an Australian Shepard and 3 cats and I am sweeping up animal hair non stop and it drives me crazy, I can't imagine that much hair AND 8 kids!

I know the first night I had the last puppy I said, "Why oh why did I get this puppy" because she was crying and no one could sleep. That's just a normal thing to say, but we'll see...

I hope I'm wrong too, but I see them ending up in that barn or something.
I am not a fan of people that keep outdoor pets either.

I like making lots of references to "Brett Favre" that used to be the Green Bay Packers Quarter back. His wife Deanna spoke at many functions. Someone once asked her why Brett was involved in so many money making opportunities, ie commercials, a movie etc. Deanna said when you are a popular commodity, their publicist told them to do as many as Brett felt comfortable to do. Deanna said it was insane the amount of endorsements Brett was offered to endorse. He got in major trouble for signing with a dealership that sold GM's. When he won the Superbowl, Pepsi gave him a Ford Truck. His wallet got stolen in his truck, it was publized that he was driving a Ford. The GM Dealership didn't drop him, but he paid a hefty fine, for not living up to his contract to just drive a GM product. After that incident, Deanna and Brett decided to listen to themselves and Deanna took over as Brett's publicist and she said she read all the fine lines and things started going much better when they took control and stopped and started reading contracts for endorsements.

It almost seems Kate is going like a whirlwind right now.
She has been on tv more in the last couple of weeks, than
the last 3 years that they have been on tv.
She will probably crash and burn soon.

Let me first say that I have had two wonderful German Shepherds. But they are NOT dogs for novice owners and two puppies (?!?!?!) is insane. You cannot properly train two large, protective dogs in that chaos.

Eta: They got rid of two cats when they had Mady and Cara. Two puppies is about a hundred times harder than two adult housecats. I give those dogs six months before they go 'live with someone who has a farm'. *eye roll*

While she may not yet be seasoned in wheeling and dealing in the entertainment/advertising world, I think that Kate would be extremely picky about what entities she chooses to do business with as she is with everything else. Wow. Long sentence.

I have to agree. I love BIG dogs! We have a mixed yellow lab/chow and a full breed Rottie. Both were adopted from our local SPCA. Growing up we had German Shepard’s. I love them so much, but they like to run. Even with proper exercise. I don’t see Jon or Kate walking them, and the kids sure will not be able to handle them. I hope they did not get these dogs just for protection.
BTW you dogs are so cute!!!!!!!!

I just have to say I  Brett Favre!

Not so sure about German Shepards as I don't know a whole lot about them, but I totally get why they got puppies and why they got two right away. Can you imagine bringing an older dog (even if it is only a year old) into that house? The poor thing would be terrified. Puppies are very resilient and will easily adapt to that environment. Plus they definitely have the land to let them run AND the money (or clout) to get the puppies some top notch training.

We just got a sweet 9 month old kitten. I have an almost 3 year old and she is absolutely terrified of him. My DS is really good with all our animals, but she just is scared yet. She is such a love bug to us when DS is in bed, but when he is awake she hides under the bed. I only have 1 kid and how it is to integrate an animal into the household. I couldn't even imagine having 8 kids and trying to do it with an older dog!

I've been saying all along that I hope Jon & Kate are surrounding themselves with people who have the Gosselins best interest at heart. Especially since it seems that their closest friends/family (Beth & Bob, Kevin & Jodi) are not involved anymore.

It totally depends on the dog. A lot of puppies would be intimidated by that household. I have one dog that doesn't like chaos or little kids and he would be miserable there, but my Australian Shepard would be wonderful in that house. My sister has a Mini Australian Shepard that LOVES when they have parties because of all the people/kids there. Her dog wasn't socialized very well at all, but it doesn't matter because the dog loves EVERYONE. Her full sister is just the opposite and doesn't like anyone but family. On an older dog you can see their personality and see if it's a good fit for your family.

Cats are all different too....I have 2 that love everyone and one that hides when people come to visit. Maybe your new kitten just doesn't like your son for some reason? We had a cat that loved my dad and would bite everyone else, can't explain some things when it comes to animals.

I don't know what it was, but I never thought Beth was completely selfless in volunteering to help the Gosselins.

I have to say I tend to agree. While I liked Beth and I don't get the motive behind it, it just didn't seem genuine. Who just shows up on someone's doorstep asking to help feed her babies, and the Disney trip seemed really off with me too. The fact that they went on vaction with them isn't the problem, it was how I felt Beth kinda took control and what she was saying about how "you need this many ppl. if one has to go to the bathroom, one's hungry and one get's sick you're done; something about how with this many ppl. it works perfectly." -Those obviously aren't exact quotes, but I just kept thinking what are you talking about. If one has to go to the bathroom and one is hungry and one get's sick 2 parents could easily work that out. Don't get me wrong I think with 8 having Beth and family was definetely a great help, but I kinda feel like she was trying to push her way into things:confused3 I don't know, could just be me reading too much into it. Also, I don't doubt that she really truly loved those kids, I just don't think it was 100% of a selfless act.

I don't know what it was, but I never thought Beth was completely selfless in volunteering to help the Gosselins.

I can see that - their relationship seemed to be a "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" kind of deal. I do think Beth was someone who Kate aspired to be, though. Whether or not they had a deep friendship, we'll never know. Even if it was a business arrangement of sorts, Beth & Bob have business experience that Jon & Kate don't. I can see where they would be helpful in management IF they were still involved in each other's lives. KWIM?

They did an article on Beth in our paper (Reading Eagle) late last fall about how she was going to write a book about her experiences with the Gosselins. I can't remember if they said the book was already written or if she was working on it. The article didn't make mention of if she was still involved with J&K. The article also mentioned other interests she had such as painting.

Since I live in the same county as the Gosselins and Beth, I thought it was kind of an odd article and seemed to be about Beth exploiting her connections with J&K. It just seemed a bit off.

And, FYI, our paper gives ZERO coverage to the Gosselins.
