I have to say I tend to agree. While I liked Beth and I don't get the motive behind it, it just didn't seem genuine. Who just shows up on someone's doorstep asking to help feed her babies, and the Disney trip seemed really off with me too. The fact that they went on vaction with them isn't the problem, it was how I felt Beth kinda took control and what she was saying about how "you need this many ppl. if one has to go to the bathroom, one's hungry and one get's sick you're done; something about how with this many ppl. it works perfectly." -Those obviously aren't exact quotes, but I just kept thinking what are you talking about. If one has to go to the bathroom and one is hungry and one get's sick 2 parents could easily work that out. Don't get me wrong I think with 8 having Beth and family was definetely a great help, but I kinda feel like she was trying to push her way into things I don't know, could just be me reading too much into it. Also, I don't doubt that she really truly loved those kids, I just don't think it was 100% of a selfless act.

Many people showed up to help feed the babies. Kate has said it many times.
They are still friends with Beth and her husband.

I can see that - their relationship seemed to be a "you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours" kind of deal. I do think Beth was someone who Kate aspired to be, though. Whether or not they had a deep friendship, we'll never know. Even if it was a business arrangement of sorts, Beth & Bob have business experience that Jon & Kate don't. I can see where they would be helpful in management IF they were still involved in each other's lives. KWIM?

From what I heard Sunday, Kate has told many people that she just wants the show to focus on her family, not others in their lives.

They did an article on Beth in our paper (Reading Eagle) late last fall about how she was going to write a book about her experiences with the Gosselins. I can't remember if they said the book was already written or if she was working on it. The article didn't make mention of if she was still involved with J&K. The article also mentioned other interests she had such as painting.

Since I live in the same county as the Gosselins and Beth, I thought it was kind of an odd article and seemed to be about Beth exploiting her connections with J&K. It just seemed a bit off.

I can't recall hearing her say that. I've heard "our book" and "the book" or referring to it by name. It is the Gosselin story, though, so she can absolutely take ownership of it.

I completely disagree about Beth. I really saw her as a genuine friend, happy to help. Kate doesn't have anything Beth needs or wants, other than the adorable kids and her close relationship with them. I think Beth and her family gave and gave and gave to the Gosselins and wanted nothing in return. I didn't see her as wanting 15 minutes of fame, or anything like that.
I'd like to believe that the Gosselins still have a relationship with Bob & Beth, but the way Beth was left completely out of the book circuit leads me to believe otherwise. If Beth really does write about about her experiences with the Gosselins, I'd buy it!

and not only JK8. LOL. I've spent the better part of an hour reading a spoiler site about The Bachelor. Concrete proof is hard to come by when it comes to knowing scoop about a reality show.

the bolded part is what I always understood to be the arrangement. Kate had the story, Beth encouraged and helped her to put it on paper.

I paid little to no attention to what Kate said about the book, though. No idea what she said regarding who wrote it.

Yup, that is the article I was referring to. There was a big picture of Beth with some of her paintings in the back ground.

I don't know why they painted the trim first though...I would have taped up the trim, painted the walls THEN painted the trim...but that's just me.

Most professional painters paint the trim first then the walls, makes more sense to do it the other way to me too.

Anyway... if Kate is bored or tired, then they need to find a time to film when she's not. I find that terribly disrespectful to the people who have invested themselves in loving this family/show. The fans that have made JK8 what it is deserve better.

PS. I don't, for one second, believe what is seen on TV is the real Kate. I never have. (not a shock to anyone here, I'm sure)

I have to agree with what you said - find a time that's more convienient (sp?). I know that's close to impossible when you have 8 kids. I guess if you really need a break (I watched the fall family picture episode last night at Beth and Bob's) then *I* would ask friends of ours (or friends of the Mady and Cara since they're older) to watch the kids. Arrange a play date one day of the week or weekend. It wouldn't be nearly as exhausting, I have to believe, if you weren't running around endorsing a bunch of stuff or doing all kinds of interviews...

I think we're seeing a bit more of the "real" Kate - maybe a cross between where she is now and where she started maybe?? I'm not really sure. I watched the episode where they took the family picture at Beth and Bob's last night. Kate and Jon seemed MUCH happier in the interview chair at that point and were actually interested (or at least seemed to be) in the questions and talking about the day. Beth also mentioned that they spend every Sunday together???

As far as the interviews go, I do believe the fans deserve more than the flat Kate we've seen in the last few episodes. If she can travel across the country for book signings, TV appearances, Home shows, etc. and be charming? She can do the same for the TV show.

Jon looks checked out most of the time. I would too if my husband made fun of the way I talked, mocked me, and demeaned me in front of a national audience. He has been that way since the beginning of the show, no real change. I think people mention it about Kate because there has been such a huge change in behavior in the commentary since the beginning of the show.

I agree - he either needs to tell Kate to lay off or just ignore her and speak for himself - however that comes out naturally!!

I think we are all forgetting that in that interview from Colorado Jon said they do have a nanny several hours a day. So she does get a break and the kids are in preschool 3 days a week.

If anything she is tired from traveling because she does get a break from the kids.

Perhaps the nanny helps give her time to do other things that she cannot accomplish with 8 children in tow. I don't think Kate has claimed to be perfect. But what really disturbs me is how quick women are to jump on one another and pick each other apart. We're not attentive enough, not perky enough, we don't parent correctly. That's how we support one another????

Ask anyone on the thread, I'm usually one to defend the Gosselins, but that's what you subject yourself to when you agree to be a celebrity. They're going to get press and commentary that's both good and bad. Nature of the beast.

I guess the picture came from a message board that saw Jon at the bar on Valentine's Day night with his buddies. The rumor was that he left with some girls, not sure if that is true or not. But there is a picture showing he was there looking a little drunk (to me).

I have been following this thread but never posted. I know exactly where Shorty's bar is as my son graduated from Kutztown University and the bar is right in the center of town. It is a big college hangout. It would only be about 15-20 minutes from where Jon and Kate live. Actually my son said he celebrated his 21st birthday in that bar and then staggered back to his apartment which was a half block away. It has a microbrewry on the property.
