I just have to laugh because if you take the exact opposite of your post, that's what people were posting during the last season.

I'm not making fun of you, just the situation in general. Please don't be offended.

I wasn't around last season.

Perhaps this just goes to show that they really don't know what to do with this family anymore. IMO, their 15 minutes are about over.

I thought this episode was a snooze. Kate and Jon didn't help, they looked bored to death in the chair.

I thought they looked ultra relaxed in the chair, not bored.

I thought Kate looked like she could hardly stay awake.

I haven't posted in awhile...school started back and it has been crazy. I agree. I think it would be wise for J&k to have an exit strategy. It sounds like school age kids and a new house is the perfect time.

I think Kate has mentioned that often the interview is done late at night when the kids are in bed. Maybe she really was having trouble staying awake!

if you look at other cable TV shows that gain popularity, they all seem to follow a similar formula. Show is new, starts to gain viewers .. more people find out about it, and quickly rockets to higher viewership. The channel immediately saturates the market with the show and different shows with the popular host. Trading Spaces comes to mind, as do any of the Food Network shows with Rachael Ray or Paula Deen .. as soon as people start to love the show, then it's too much. Same with the Gosselins. How many times is the show on each week? A lot. Too much? Not for me to say. And with the Gosselins, you have the whole issue of the blogosphere. It's been a LOT of exposure in a short amount of time.

I also think this show has run its course. The kids are cute, but who cares what Jon and Kate do all day at home. Its not the way the real world is. I can see why the friends and relatives are disappearing one by one. They are probably bored out of their minds just like the viewers.

It's all just the same blah, blah, blah .. even as I'm typing responses, I'm thinking that I know I've said something similar about 20 pages back. At this point, I'll have to watch this week's episode to have something new to say.

When Chuck and Heroes are new I would rather watch those than J&K+8, however I caught Monday's shows and found out they're moving. Do we know where yet?

I just watched the soup episode. I didn't think they looked bored, but I didn't think they looked relaxed, either. They seemed ... I don't know .. almost detached. I noticed Jon & Kate's body language more than anything they said. They certainly did not look "together" on the couch this week. They just didn't appear as happy or playful as they've looked in other shows.

about the possible product placements this week? I didn't get the sense they were commercials for Play-Doh or Little Tikes. I'm sure they were supposed to be .. but, I'd like to think those kids have played with Play-Doh before now... it seemed like it wasn't new to them. It just wasn't as bad as the voice over for the V-Tech thing some months ago, IMO.

the bibs .. Jon & Kate .. break free of the bibs .. it's a perfect chance to start fresh in the new house .. no more bibs!

PS. I thought the stovetop blew up during the filming. Didn't realize it was before filming. And I have one of those stove tops. I need to be more careful!

I would imagine that Little Tikes would not have been happy if they did pay to have their product promoted on J&K. Jon called it a pain or annoying or something like that.

I thought the same thing! I got the sense that it was something they'd had for a little while .. and at the same time, Little Tikes was obviously ok with the exposure because that wasn't blurred out during the episode. But at the same time, Jon's comments were less than favorable.

if she was referring to where they live-they have a shriners hospital within about 100 miles. and just to clarify-while st. judes is an awsome organization they do not personaly pay for everything. they will bill insurance and utilize government assitance (they make an effort if a person is not self insured to assist them in aquiring medicaid for covering the cost). i believe that shriners is the only children's HOSPITAL in the u.s. that relies entirely on donations and for which patients never are charged nor their insurance or any government sponsored insurance is billed. st jude's is awsome for what they do, but they are first and primarily a research hospital and as such unless a child falls under some fairly restrictive eligibility criteria they cannot be served.

not bashing st. judes-it just seems that if it was their intent to spotlight a free children's hospital near there own home it would have been nice of them to consider shriners (who will take any and all kids so long as they can benefit from their services they've been a godsend for our dd and a godsend by virtue of not billing our insurance and protecting dd's lifetime benefit cap from being exhausted, something that's quick to do with a criticaly ill or injured child).

I think anyone who has been touched by any hospital, will be an advocate for said hospital. While St Jude is an ongoing research hospital, they also provide ongoing excellent care. My daughter was sent with the probable diagnosis of Ewing's. We were treated there from July to November and she does not have Ewing's. Thank you, God. Our doctor called on Thursday evening, as in after 7, and we were there on Sunday. St Jude looks at the whole picture, they provide everything (not saying another hospital does not), they provide education (actual classrooms and certified teachers), they provide housing, short term hotel stays, mileage, counseling, and anything else you could even think of. Yes, they bill insurance. I am OK with that. I also know had I not had it, they would have treated me the same. I work in healthcare, so I know how taxing it is to provide good care even with what you get from insurance. I am so thankful for the research also, because when I had a Wilm's tumor in 1969, a lot of children were dying from it. Now, the cure rate is 90%. I could go on and on as you could. I always wander why anyone (not you!) would complain about anyone giving to an organization who treats children or any other human being.

Really??? I didn't get the impression that those were commercials at all. Heck he said they only bring the bouncer out every now and then because it was a pain to blow up...that didn't sound like a commercial to me.

So we watched a few episodes in a row last Monday night, and really enjoyed it. Hubby, who is half Korean like Jon, and I, who can easily get the same look of disapproval even when I'm NOT disapproving at all, LOVE the way they interact. Looks just like us. Drives our friends crazy, they don't understand us at all, but it's not our problem that they can't see we have a good relationship.

Hubby had a long explanation of, going by how Korean men behave, why it's best that Jon just bowed out from the kitchen scene when she was telling him to get out of the kitchen. I noted that she used very polite words and phrasing, thanking him for what he'd done, while also telling him her needs. Hubby said that Jon's reaction was exactly how a Korean man acts, and while it looks negative from the point of view of others (like our friends and much of America who watches the show), in reality he was likely totally fine and happy.

The conversation they had about the move, OMG, brought back memories from our last move. We moved in '06, '07, and '08, and DS hasn't really paid much attention before. But our last move he was asking all those questions that the 6 were asking. He had very specific questions about what all we were moving.

Then at the last moment, we realized we hadn't said the most important thing of all, when he asked us to "at least" leave the little people garage, so he could have something to play with when we (me and hubby) leave. Though we told him the THREE of us were moving, but I guess that didn't sink in enough. So watching the kids ask those little questions was poignant.


Looks like Jon really misses Hawaii...


I thought it was adorable when Jon said Phillies wrong, and she giggled and said "feelies" and they tickled each other and laughed. Also something we would do.


I sure do hope the show doesn't end, b/c we're officially fans now! It also helps that the 6 are just about the same age as DS, and DS loves that.

That's not quite true. My DD has a very genetic disease and has been a patient at the Shriners hospital in Chicago for many years now. While they have not billed our insurance so her inpatient hospital stay or her out patient doctor appointments, they do bill insurance for her orthotics and any special tests that can not be done there. Her MRI had to be done at Loyola so insurance was billed and the remaining balance was written off. They will help arrange for medical equipment (wheel chair, feeding chair, bath chair, car seat, standing frame...) but they will not pay for it and we are responsible for what is not covered by insurance.

Don't get me wrong, I appreciate EVERYTHING that they have done for us but many people think that everything is free but that just isn't possible for them to do.


I do agree with you and think that it would have been nice for them to provide help for some local families just as the locals provided help for them when they needed it.

I'm not sure anyone was being critical of St. Jude's or Jon and Kate choosing to give to any charity. I think some people may have been a little put off with the fact that Kate never mentioned the reason they ended up there is that K-Mart is a huge corprorate sponsor for St.Jude's and she has some sort of K-Mart business agreement. In the stores, Marlot Thomas is everywhere and they even ask at the time of purchase if you'd like to donate to St. Judes. I think this is great.

K-Mart donated toys to St. Jude's and the Gosselins delivered them. For what reason I don't know. Publicity, show ratings, truly wanting to experience this wonderful organization with their kids... no one knows but them. Her saying there was not another children's hospital between PA and Nashville was just silly. Go ahead and say that K-Mart is a sponsor of St. Jude's and we are affiliated with K-Mart and are delivering toys to kids battling cancer. In some people's opinions the Gosselins were not really giving back as I believe the show was publicized, but making a paid for appearance. Actually, they did give $10 if I remember correctly.

My Uncle is heavily involved in Shriner transportation for patients and their families to and from their facilities. He says full blown celebrities frequently visit the kids. He has seen Miley Cyrus, Jessie McCartney, Selena Gomez and others. He said you barely know they are there. No cameras, no entourage, no hoop-la.

Thank God I have no experience with hospitals. If one does, I'm sure there is passion about the experience, be it positive or negative.

Congratulations on your child being free of the disease they first suspected. Continued good health.
