Jon and Kate Plus 8 official Thread, Part 2!!

Neither Kate nor Jon got a terribly favorable edit tonight in the couch interview. Jon looked beat down, and Kate mowed over nearly every thing he said. they were not together on that couch.

I'm really curious about the trip to Florida a few weeks ago. If that was a personal trip, or filming for season 5. I guess we won't know that for a little while... but, I'll definitely be watching to see how it plays out.

The Florida trip was a working trip. Jon was there for a sports/community banquet. At the time I saw photos on someone's public album of him with guests, other celeb's, etc. He was also photographed one morning in either a bakery or coffee shop and there were crew members with him so it was assumed they were filming the new season -- plus it was a week the kids were off school and Kate had no speaking engagements.
That's all I know and guess I'll have to wait till May to find out if Florida in the new season. :)

I do think it might of been Ann Taylor or the Loft store. The blue sweater she had on last night was a loft one. I have that one too...These are the only two stores I shop in but funny how she would not mention the store name. I do have to wonder if they are giving her free clothes then or not???:confused3:confused3

one of the hottest things in advertisements are endorsement deals...A Lot of people tivo shows and fast forward through commercials. Advertisers are trying to get people to notice their products more & more, and it's ALL over J&K+8.....Gymboree, Ann Taylor, Crocs, Lane Furniture, Juicy juice, Little Tykes, V Tech, johnson & Johnson....It goes on & on.....

they receive free product and will agree to use it on & off the show. They have exclusive deals with Ann Taylor and Gymboree. The " shopping " trip was staged I'm sure.....

Does anyone remember the " yard sale " episode when they were at the church selling stuff? there was a section on the table LOADED with johnson & johnson no more tangle shampoo, soap, cond, this kind of stuff. I know b/c i tivo-ed it and got to pause when they panned over all the stuff....She had so much free J & J that she was selling it at the sale!

the new table for 12 show had Ragu as a sponsor....Think of how much free stuff they are getting with this deal.

This post is spot on. They don't have to have blatant ads like Jon's Allstate plug to be providing products and services for free. Product placement can be as subtle as wearing an unlabeled garment. The list of sponsors at the end of each show is very, very long. They are promoting every destination, every bib, every organic farm they visit, every Kid's Cuts, everything you see them use. This is not new for them, and certainly not a bad thing for either party involved. It is amazing how many sponsors this show has; they must have a very large audience in the cable tv world.

I wonder if she dresses up more when she is being taped. If you're going to be on national television and inspected by a fine toothcomb by blogs dedicated to you maybe you try and dress up a little. :goodvibes

But then she has appeared in her pjs so who knows.

I've told you guys before it's because she is Mommy Spice. Kate and Posh side by side...frightening!

Thank You! I would pay several thousand of dollars to learn your trick of teaching your kids to say please and thank you all the time without being reminded, ever! Any advise would be greatly appreciated, my kids do a good job and try hard, but sometimes they forget.

Modeling good manners is the best way to reinforce it to little kids. My own child pointed out long ago how "weird" it is that Kate doesn't use "please", "thank you" and "I'm sorry" as freely as we are use to, even to her kids. Pay up. ;)

All I know from the shows last night - the Harlem Globetrotters episode and the museum - is that they are both in a bad place. Jon seemed very distant and bored at the basketball game. Kate with the earring twirling seemed very agitated and they both looked very uncomfortable. I feel sad for the entire family.

I don't know what I did except to "use" those words even before they were born. I remember my son started out with "pease" and "tank vu". My dd is 22 and she still reminds me if I forget and tells her kids at daycare.

I think you missed the sarcasm. At least in my post. I was pointed out how you were dissing a 4 year old for forgetting to say thank you and rubbing it in that your children would never forget to do that unlike Kate's.

But they said last night's show was in the old house, right?

I agree! I had NO idea what he was doing, but I really thought it was a plug for ALLSTATE, since he said ALLSTATE specifically 2 or 3 times.

No, they were not in the old house, they were simply using the old set that had been rebuilt in the new house. Kate did say during one of the moving episodes that they'd fooled the viewers and they had actually built a new set in their new house. The green walls weren't the same shade. ;)

Jon is NOT working for Allstate. Jon was simply looking at their webpage because he was doing a product placement ad - and did it rather poorly if I might say so myself. It was horribly horrendous. Jon said he'd been discussing his insurance with his agent and the agent told him to just look at their website, which is what was showing. If you Google Allstate Insurance you'll be taken to that exact page. :goodvibes

I'd be bored at a Harlem Globetrotters event too, so he's not alone.

I wonder if TLC keeps track of the schedule of events at the nearest arena (Wachovia Center?) and if anything looks remotely interesting, they arrange for a shoot there. It looked like "Sesame Street Live" and the Harlem Globetrotters were in the same place (judging by the background of where they had the meet and greets).

Someone mentioned the kids getting special seating. Don't forget they have a cameraman, and a sound guy (at the very least) with them. They just can't plop them down in the middle of an arena.

If they do another season, it will probably be a shorter one. I can see them tapering off. As the kids get older, they are losing the "cuteness factor."

Did anyone else notice that when she took them to the museum she had on high heels? Who takes 6 kids out with high heels? :confused3
:wave2: I wear heels to just about everywhere as well (especially shopping or to places out with my husband). They don't have to be hooker high heels to be heels... and I know MANY women who do this.

I guess that makes me pregnant spice then (minus the hair!?)...:confused3

I've read everything and am surprised it was brought up that she had to remind the kids to say thank-you. I'd hate to see what would be said if she hadn't reminded them at all-- woah nelly! I like it when kids learn manners-- I know a lot of adults who need to say it a little more! Atleast they are learning!

so do my kids... I think that's totally normal.

Kate Gosselin would be a prime example of someone who needs to remember to say thank you. When she spoke here, she did not say thank you for having me, thank you for the warm welcome, thank you for listening .. I think you get the idea...

Seriously, the more I hear about her appearance here? The more I just shake my head. Rude, rude, rude.
:sad2:

What ever happened to them moving south. Kate would go on and on about when are we going to live someplace warm?
But their new home is still in PA
Anyone know why?

we know... we've heard about her appearance a couple times now...

I agree with you on the part that we often forget to be thankful for the good things that happen in our lives. I would fall into that category as well -- I don't stop and say thank-you as often as I should ( I tend to say it face to face, but not really say "thank-you" when its due quite as often). But... no one is perfect and the fact that she is trying to bring those kids up with manners is something I can appreciate!

I think it will happen but certainly not yet :) ETA - I am talking about losing the cuteness here - lol They are still cute to me.

I think however with the little ones in school next year the filming times will be few and far between so I would hope they would cut down then. I cannot imagine what they would film with just J&K and I think it would be horrible for the kids to be in school all day and have to come home and "perform".

I am happy to be seeing less of Mady though. I know many think she is a brat - I just see a little girl that is struggling with wanting to be recognized, wanting to feel special and important and wanting to be heard and with everything going on she's not getting what she needs. Then it's made worse because every bad moment is broadcast for all to see. I cannot imagine my classmates and their parents seeing that.

that seems to be the consensus, and I wasn't exactly sure of what Kate said about moving and the last time they filmed at the old house. Maybe she was referring to the show where they went back and moved out the lights, then. That makes a little more sense.

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the series of events in the last 6 weeks. And the more I think about it, the more it seems (to me) that while last night had some sincere emotion .. I just can't shake the thought that it was heavily edited to create interest for the new season.

I found that comment odd as well...also when Kate said they'd "never have a nanny". What's wrong with a nanny???? I have one who's with my kids every day and she's part of our family. I think it's a bit disrespectful to just call her our "babysitter"...to me a babysitter is someone who comes so you can go out for a couple of hours. Maybe that's all J&K use this person for..I don't know.

Jon told the audience at Penn State that they had a 'nanny'. That was one of his first leaks. He spilled the beans about the dogs there, too.

I wasn't sure about Ann Taylor - that's the store I thought it was but I also thought (I don't shop there personally) they were a bit pricy.

I also wasn't a fan of the shopping spree either....I find it so hard to believe that she didn't have something in the closets that matched that she could have pulled out for her and the kids...please. It's not like it's their first time on tv or anything like that....

As others have posted, Gymboree, Ann Taylor and others are longtime sponsors of Jon&Kate+8. Kate uses specific locations for her shopping. She's used a card similar to a credit card to use to pick up the kids outfits. I'd assume she has a clothing allowance at Ann Taylor, too. It had been a while since they did a product placement for their clothing and I wasn't surprised they disguised it as a shopping trip. It would have been more believable if it hadn't been simply to appear via satellite for Oprah. It was a weak excuse to use to work it into the story IMO.

As for not coming back next season, I thought they'd already signed the deal for the next season were starting to film. It seems like they would have to if the new season starts in May - I would think they would have to start in April at the latest. I do like that the shows seem to be closer to "reality" in regards to when they're taking place.[/QUOTE/

Jon announced they'd signed for a 5th season. Oprah announced that season 5 would begin in May. And, they've already begun filming. Whether they use the film or not, who knows, but all indications point to a definite YES.

And I know so many have said this so many times but no one saw them at the basketball game or any of their other outings? It seems to me like with all the rumors flying around that People or someone would be trying to contact some of those people to see what "really" happened at those events.

My brother and sister-in-law were at the game. Their only comment was that there were boos when the kids were introduced and brought onto the floor for halftime. They didn't know why but speculation and talk was that it was because there was a special needs group in attendance and they thought the crowd felt that group should have been asked to come to the floor and been introduced. Actually, I'm surprised they weren't invited, too because the Globetrotters have a reputation for doing a lot of local group work. Anyway, bro and SIL didn't now until the show aired that they'd gone to a meet and greet (as Jon likes to call it) and had been given quite nice goodie bags. I wonder how the people associated with the special needs group and the locals felt after seeing the episode last night and watching the special treatment the Gosselin kids received.

Sure, it's nice to get goodies, but it's become a bit too much for my taste to see it occur at every event they attend. It's over the top, unnecessary, and actually, unappreciated (the tups certainly don't appreciate the expensive jerseys and other things they received. They'd have been happy with a mini basketball that cost $5.00). Excess, 'just because you're you' which is supposed to makeyou and everyone else know you're special goes against the grain and turns me off. They appear to have developed a sense of entitlement which in this economy is a tough pill to swallow when it's on display every week.

I'm sure many don't agree with me, but I'm glad they're taking a short break and giving us a break from them, too. I hope they take some time for just themselves, to decide what direction to take, what will be most fulfilling, beneficial, and healthy lifestyle for the family as a whole. It's obvious Jon isn't happy with their current lifestyle and wants change. IMO, Mady and Cara would vote to have mom and dad home more regularly, too. I hope they rediscover their mission statement values (or whatever it was Kate had hanging in the kitchen), find happiness, health, and a united direction for their lives together.

I know lots of women that wear high heels all the time...I can't due to a bad ankle, but some people are comfortable in them.

Funny how 2 people watch the same show and see totally different body language....

It looked like the store was empty (to me) when she walked in. And also, didn't the manager greet her or something? It must have been staged.

I got the feeling she hit both stores early, before they opened for business. And, yes, it felt and looked staged - most definitely. :thumbsup2

So you know for a fact that they asked to be given that stuff? Were J and K aware beforehand that there was a special needs group there and insist that they be given special treatment rather then the SN group? Not really sure what your point is?

I didn't realize they're taking a break. Kate is still doing appearances, they're filming for season 5 .. we aren't going to see new episodes for a couple of months, but if they said last night they're taking a break, I missed it.
