1) How do you know they don't pay for the haircuts and clothes? Isn't that the same hairdresser Kate used a few seasons ago?

The tups were given 5 years of free haircuts from that salon when they were born. It appears on the Gosselin's archived web page under 'praise'. It's the same place they've shown in previous episodes.

2) There were kids in the museum. It was not closed for them. As for the art place it looked like a small room. Probably gets booked for small groups.

The art place certainly looked closed to me, too. The room was huge and I would imagine they could have fit a bigger group there if they'd taken open reservations but that wouldn't have allowed the production crew to get all of the shots they needed for the episode.

3) Didn't appear that way to me at. Seems like she was upset and worried that her spouse was unhappy. They said several times that they would be discussing things. Why does a couple need to decide their future in a 10 minute interview in front of a camera? She seemed very compassionate and loving towards Jon to me.[/QUOTE]

Does Kate appear to you to be loving and compassionate towards Jon in other episodes? No one is saying they have to decide their future on the interview couch. I think we've simply pointed out that there is disention in the marriage. We all noticed they have been having a rough time lately (heck, who wouldn't, knowing the bad press, schedule, lifestyle, rumors they've lived, dealt with).

We'll never know. We'll always speculate. But, we each have a 50% chance of being right.

Actually in the museum episode yesterday she mentioned that couple of her friends had recommended the place to her. Just because people don't appear on the show doesn't mean they don't exist.

I equate Kate saying her friends told her about the museum to Jon having talked with his insurance agent who referred him to the Allstate website. They were both scripted lead-ins to the segments.

Yes Aiden was cute with the paint on his face and asking for a paper towel....

I actually got the opposite impression of this. I didn't think he was being cute, but that he was being a miniature Kate!

It's interesting to read everyone's observations. I haven't been watching all the shows lately, but did watch the season finale. I'm glad for the kids that the announcement wasn't a split. - I'm sure their lives are comlpicated enough just with being filmed so often.

:confused3 I dont know whether it was opened or closed, but most anytime ive ever been to a museum-- it hasnt exactly been the food court at the mall at 12noon. Its usually fairly empty-- esp. if its a weekday. I guess there are other fun things to be doing other than going to a museum- which isn't on the 'must-do' lists for mosts! Don't get me wrong, museums are great-- but they don't draw attention and make crowds of people like other places do. Maybe there just wasnt a whole lot of people there that day!?

The post you quoted was about the place they painted the pictures, not the museum. They were two differant places.

There were other people in the children's museum, just not in the painting place.

I think it would be perfectly normal to have a nervous little habit when being filmed for television. Nothing wrong with that. Wouldn't you be self conscious being filmed for a national audience?

You know there is a OFF button on your television right?

Kate started playing with her earring after they made the move to the new house and their lifestyle and people in their lives changed. Many theories exist about the cause. Whatever the cause, it's distracting to watch. I don't care that she's doing it, only that it distracts from what she's saying and opens her up to analysis - something that I don't think either of them want to encourage - they have more than enough already.

Ok...just got done watching both episodes and here's my take.

Let Hannah cut her hair....I really don't like hair that long on anyone. My brother likes long hair and his girls weren't allowed to cut off their crazy long hair until they were about 12 even though they asked for it many times before that. BUT-Hannah is not my kid and she is only 4 so if Kate wants her to keep it long...then by all means keep it long.

I don't care that she made Kara cut hers shorter, she apparently has been warning her and she is old enough to listen to them.

I think the All State infomercial was dumb, but whatever pays the bills....

I could care less if Kate wears heels to bed...

I think it's nice that Kate finally knows how to shop and dress her self nice, and I don't care if she buys the clothes or gets them for free.

I am not going to waste my time trying to analyze every little body language or thing that was said or unsaid....who cares if Kate took the marker out of Jon's hand....I probably would have grabbed it too and wrote something first....but then again, Kate is my friend and she was with me and TotalSnowWhite last week at Disney!! ;)

Kate Gosselin would be a prime example of someone who needs to remember to say thank you. When she spoke here, she did not say thank you for having me, thank you for the warm welcome, thank you for listening .. I think you get the idea...

Seriously, the more I hear about her appearance here? The more I just shake my head. Rude, rude, rude.
:sad2:

Hi everyone! I'm new to this thread. When had Kate made appearances here on the boards? Did she post? If you could give a link or a date that would be so helpful. I'd like to see what she has said.:goodvibes Thanks for your help.

Madge is talking about a Kate appearance she went to not one on these boards.

My brother and sister-in-law were at the game. Their only comment was that there were boos when the kids were introduced and brought onto the floor for halftime. They didn't know why but speculation and talk was that it was because there was a special needs group in attendance and they thought the crowd felt that group should have been asked to come to the floor and been introduced. Actually, I'm surprised they weren't invited, too because the Globetrotters have a reputation for doing a lot of local group work. Anyway, bro and SIL didn't now until the show aired that they'd gone to a meet and greet (as Jon likes to call it) and had been given quite nice goodie bags. I wonder how the people associated with the special needs group and the locals felt after seeing the episode last night and watching the special treatment the Gosselin kids received.

Here's my take on the whole thing. First, I'm sure there were many kids at the game that would have loved to go out on the court. When you get a ticket to any event, it's not a guarantee. The Gosselin kids obviously had an edge because they were filming for the show, but I think it's really crappy for adults to boo a child just because they feel their child should've gotten something too.

As far as the goodie bags go, I would suspect that Jon and Kate had nothing to do with that. They said that one of the Globetrotters liked watching their show on the bus and was excited to meet them. Perhaps they worked it out for all the kids to have jerseys.

How should the people associated with the special needs group feel? They went to see a game and they got to see a game. No matter who gets preferential treatment, someone is always going to feel slighted.

call me crazy, but I was irritated by the "art teacher" last night. A real art teacher would never say no, don't do that, don't touch that, get your hand off, or force your hand to make a handprint. I really feel it's not the childrens' art if their mother picked the colours and the "art teacher" strongly influenced your painting.

Ok, ready to be flamed now:upsidedow
I agree. I'm fine with kids being taught a new technique (show them how to use the fork to scrape across the canvas), but they should get to do what they want if it is their piece. I thought she was going to rip that painting out of Collin's hand at one point.

I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the series of events in the last 6 weeks. And the more I think about it, the more it seems (to me) that while last night had some sincere emotion .. I just can't shake the thought that it was heavily edited to create interest for the new season.

You're not alone; we're on the same page. I'm sure the last 6 weeks have been full of a lot of false starts for them and they've had to put out fires wherever they've turned. Following the timeline of events and announcements is interesting. ;) I'll take a leap and say they worked on the last few interview segments as long as they could, watching to see if anything new surfaced.

What other reason to address the rumors and bad press than to create interest in the future of the show? For a week we watched the suggestive commercials drumming up interest for the finale, they wrapped it up with 3 special activities to show us they're culturing the kids, included horrendously overdone BIG product placement ads and then........drumbeat please......they tried to create a season finale cliffhanger of 'will we be back next season, I don't know'......

They had 2 choices. Address the rumors as they did. Or, not mention anything related to the cryptic commercials (as they've done before). Had they said nothing about their current issues there would have been no sense of anticipation. They accomplished what they set out to do. IMO they did a commendable job and I guess I have to give them a pat on the back. They created some sympathy for Jon's situation, anticipation of whether they'll be back for season 5, and left viewers wanting to know more.

Did it make me excited they'll be back for season 5? No. I wish they'd choose to concentrate on more time away from the cameras, their fractured relationships, and forging positive experiences for the family in the new house.

I normally don't agree with Kate on much, however, I do think I understand why she wouldn't let Hannah get her hair cut. In previous episode she has commented on how Hannah never wants to cut her hair, she wants it long.

When I was about 5 my hair was like Hannah's and my next door friend got her hair cut short, I was so caught up in the moment and the excitement that I cut my hair. My mom begged me not to, but unlike Kate, she gave in. 2 days later I was in tears over what I had done and I asked my mom why she let me do it. So I do think that in this case, Kate was probably right.

So you know for a fact that they asked to be given that stuff? Were J and K aware beforehand that there was a special needs group there and insist that they be given special treatment rather then the SN group? Not really sure what your point is?

I didn't say that they expected to receive goodie bags, only that I am tired of seeing it and that I felt that they were unnecessary and that I would have liked to have seen those things given to special needs kids rather than the Gosselins if they were given at all.

I didn't say, nor imply that J&K expect to receive special treatment. I was merely passing on speculation about why the children received boos when introduced - based on direct statements from people who attended the game. The consensus of the people sitting in the area behind and to the right of J&K's floor seats was that the boos were related to special treatment of the Gosselin kids rather than the group of SN kids. I simply wondered if after these same people saw the show with the Gosselin's receiving goodie bags backstage during halftime, if they were even more dismayed. Bro and SIL did not participate in the booing, they were merely present.

I'm not suggesting, nor implying anything. I'm simply relating direct comments made to me by eyewitnesses and my own observations and opinions of those observations.

I didn't realize they're taking a break. Kate is still doing appearances, they're filming for season 5 .. we aren't going to see new episodes for a couple of months, but if they said last night they're taking a break, I missed it.

No, you're right. I'm sorry, I just meant that they weren't filming 'full time' like they did during the main part of season 4. My bad! :flower3: I think I meant a break more for the viewers from new episodes every week than the family taking a break. I obviously wasn't clear at all! Too many posts to read today, that's for sure!

I was thinking the same thing. That she was not being mean but realistic to what Hannah would really want.

Hello from a newbie on this thread...whaetever happened to all their friends? Jodi, Nana janet, Beth, etc? Curious, cuz they seemed to be such good friends...?

I felt that last night's episode showed Kate really enjoying being with the kids. To me it seemed genuine and they all looked happy, well except for Jon! As far as the booing at the Globetrotter's game, that's just horrible behavior. The Gosselin kids are just going with the flow...Mom and Dad said hey, we're going to a Globetrotter game. So they went. Booing them is really inappropriate. Plus, Kate mentioned how the Globetrotters watched and loved their show so to me it makes perfect sense that they did a meet and greet. Celebrities meeting celebrities, you know?

As far as Aaden complaining about paint on his little face, I thought it was cute. Heck, they're all cute! I was glad too that Mady wasn't shown a whole lot and I mean that in a positive way. Perhaps her parents or the producers have finally caught on that they need to stop showing her and her meltdowns. Give the kid a break! I hope that's why we saw less of her! :goodvibes

I wonder too how next season is going to play out. The little ones will be at school, Cara and Mady too, so where does that leave things? I'd hate to think that after being at school all day they'd have to come home and get ready for the camera. Kids need down time, time to play and be creative. :goodvibes

I attended one of Kate's speaking engagements on March 8, 2009.
