OK...jumping in, I have only watched a very few episodes. Turned off the tv on the old episode where Kate was screaming about the shower head and Jon buying the wrong one.....:scared:
To me THAT is not enjoyable tv viewing! :sad2:

Anyway, I did begin watching with this new season and I have a question for you all...
Does Jon work? They have that enormous, beautiful home and that enormous van yet last night he seemed to be in every shot AND at first I thought that it may have been a Saturday taping but he was taking and dropping kids off at school???

the show is their work, now.

Yup, I have a DS who turns 3 tomorrow :scared1: I still can't believe it!

I think I am being stupid, but what is a JBF sale?

Just Between Friends kids' consignment! So fun! The lady's name is Beth (how's that for irony), and she couldn't be nicer!! Their first sale is in April. Reading.jbfsale.com, I think. Highly recommend JBF to anyone with kids!

You should e-mail the fansite so people can read your story have your story and your pictures on the site.

Someone from an anti-site already stole them from her!! :scared1:

I appreciate the offer, but I don't think a fan site wants my perspective. I'm not really Kate's biggest fan. LOL

and it's nice to know there's a blog out there that isn't taking things off message boards without permission ... what a refreshing change of pace :) I've seen my story paraphrased on other blogs, yet no one asked if it was ok. :headache:

I have a feeling they will turn them into saints (when compared with the Gosselins) for a while. Then they'll start finding things to harp on.

Don't think it will take long. I saw something on the Dis about them when that one show about them aired and they were already complaining. Mainly because one of the sextuplets has a severe form of CP and the parents said one of the twins "chores" was to take care of her.

I don't know, Madge, give it a try. You'd give them some extra credibility since they're showing a not-so-lovey-dovey perspective. Then they could all rag on the thieves!! :lmao:

nope. I don't want my story anywhere. I regret posting it in the first place. :headache:

My Dd and I are regular watchers of the show and I was just thinking of the new show coming out Table for 12 and wonder how John and Kate would have dealt with it if they had a child with Cp or any other special need. I am a mom of 3 and 2 of them have special needs of some sort and I really don't think she could handle it,

When moms are put into that situation, I think something kicks in. I'm sure she could handle it. Despite what anyone else thinks, I believe she truly loves her children, would do anything for them and is very thankful to have them, as are most mothers. I don't think a special needs child would have thrown her. Like I said, it's just one of those mom instinctual things. When your child is sick, hurt, special needs, missing or anything else extraordinary, any (well, again, most) mom will dig down as deep as possible, then scrape to dig even further to grasp what she needs. She may be beachy (;)), but that doesn't change mommy instinct.

Really? Honestly, I really do think she could handle it (of course we'll never know for sure, but just the impression I get from her.) Whether you like Kate or not, you have to admit she has the multiple kid thing down. She's very organized and gets things done. I also think her being a nurse would give her more of an advantage to having a special needs child (she probably would be more likely to know someone that's an expert in whatever area it is.) I think Kate would probably do just fine if she had had a special needs child in the bunch. In a way, I think she would probably come off nicer to the public, because I think it would show a different side of her.

I should point out 'I am not a Kate hater', maybe she would be ok, but with kids with special needs, things don't work out perfect. I have always thought how lucky the are with their kids that they are all 'perfect' and 'normal' (I put it is quotes because I know there is no such thing a perfect and normal...but I hope you know what I mean...

That's true, she'd be forced to "chill" somewhat.

madge - I came home tonight intent on showing DH your part from Sunday of her at the end of her speech and it's gone. I see now that someone "stole" your info. You terrible is that!! I'm so sorry that happened to you!!

:grouphug:

Wow, this was such a great thing ot say and I agree with you 100%. I truly feel that there is such an amount of just plain jealousy there. That they don't like Kate's personality is one thing. But you know its because they are getting things for free people only wish they could have. They revel in thinking that THEY could possibly have a little something to do with taking this family down. :confused3

OK, so I was looking at one of the anti-Gosselin blogs tonight, and it really got me thinking.

OK, I understand the fan mentality. They find something they like, and they enjoy it, learn about it, etc. I can understand why fans would defend the Gosselins. I can understand why they would watch the shows, go to the signings, etc., etc.

I don't understand the hate mentality. Why would someone who dislikes the Gosselins so much spend so much time and energy on them? There are obviously good things about this family (whether or not they are involved directly, good things come out of their existence...I'm thinking benefits to St. Jude, RMH, the charities and individuals on their site, etc.). What kind of outlook do you have to have on life to pin point the bad and feel the need to call it out? I mean, these people say some venomous things. What, honestly, could a person on tv whose actions have no effect on you personally do to make some of these people say the things they do?

And say Kate's pristine world of matching outfits and house-trained puppies comes crumbling down around her. Will they take joy in her pain? Will they truly be happy that a fellow human is not?

Yes, I know they chose to put themselves on tv and open their lives to scrutiny, but it seems like some people forget that the Gosselins aren't characters. They are real people with real issues and real lives.

Any thoughts?

I was surprised....Kate seemed genuinely interested in the dogs and how they acted, etc after the surgery. She actually seemed to care about them and seemed interested. Really surprised me.

The dogs seemed to be adjusting well. Again, I was a little surprised at that. It was so cute how Nala was letting the little girls hang all over her.

Finally, I was impressed how quickly Jon noticed Alexis was still in the van. I probably wouldn't have noticed that quickly. What amazed me is he noticed immediately and knew immediately who was missing without doing a quick run down. I couldn't even imagine!

I've lurked on this board for quite awhile but just recently signed up to post. I feel the urge to speak up here and disagree with your observations about the show last night.

I don't think Kate shows affection for the dogs. She's openly stated she doesn't like them, but may when she's old and so are they and they are fat and lay around at her feet. She knows nothing about their routines (potty, poop scooping, etc) and has threatened multiple times to gladly get rid of them (and that's just what has been captured on camera - we don't know how many times she's threatened the same thing and we haven't seen it).

I do give Kate credit for being the only one to notice Nala had lost weight and was sick. Good heavens, Jon, when a dog is puking, not pooping and is lethargic, it's sick and needs to go to the vet. They're very fortunate Jon's lack of attention didn't result in an intestinal perforation for the poor pup. And then they brought the little guy home, his wound wasn't protected, he wasn't kept quiet, and I doubt any measures were taken to restrict it's activities for a day, let alone 2 weeks.

And then, finally saying how cute Nala is letting the girls hang on her. Didn't you notice her trying to wiggle out of the grasp of the girl or the snarl and growl? Kids behavior like that towards dogs usually ends after the novelty has worn off after a couple of weeks. These dogs have been in the house for 3 months and the kids are still running after them, hanging on them, not knowing how to play with them. It's a recipe for trouble - for the kids and the dogs. Someone is bound to get hurt - sooner rather than later. The dogs are getting bigger very quickly, they're untrained as are the kids around them, and someone is going to be bitten because they didn't understand the cues the dogs were giving them to leave them alone or they're going to be knocked down by the dogs jumping on and trying to dominate them -- as we saw last night with one of the boys.

I wish the Gosselin children happiness, love, and success and I feel strongly that it needs to take place in private. I feel strongly that Jon and Kate have exploited their children and that anything genuine they had to offer is gone and their 15 minutes of fame has expired. The dogs -- well, there's no sense training the dogs unless the humans are trained first and I honestly don't know what the chances of that happening might be - probably not too great if what we've seen of the first 3 months in their house is any indication.

Well, I guess I got all that off my chest and hope to sit back and lurk again for another couple of months. Thanks for listening.

I've always thought, too, what if Jon lost his mind (because that's the only reason, in my opinion, a person would hit his/her spouse in anger) and hit her. What would the haters reaction be? I am 100% sure there are people on those sites that would say she deserved it. :sad2:

and????

Until you have had a child with special needs you really have no clue, and there is no way parents of normal children can even begin to understand.

My older children had a "chore" if you want to call it that, when our autistic child was young they were each asked to play with him for 20 minutes a day, 1:1, doing some type of interactive activity with him. I could write a book about how it benefitted all 4 of them.

This is a great example of why I wouldn't want anyone with a camera looking through our windows!

Did anyone notice in this last episode that Kate just really doesn't seem to be enjoying her kids anymore? In her mind it really just seemed to be all about her. :sad1:

Unfortunately I don't think it kicks in for everyone. Some people handle their special children much better than others. While there are many wonderful parents who tackle the job whole heartedly there are many who just allow their children to be part of the system and don't go above and beyond. I could speculate on what kind of special needs mom Kate would be, but no one will every know since she was blessed with 8 NT kids. I have to admit I'm one of those who looks at the show and says big deal, she has 8 kids, they are all neurotypical, how hard can it be!
