I guess JA is planning to speak on her own behalf ... Not really a surprise ... I didn't think that she would give up an opportunity to talk ...

#JodiArias atty Nurmi tells jury every piece of evidence is on the table for the penalty phase. Any mitigating factor is up to each juror

I've lurked here a long time . I thank you for great updates and commentary. I homeschool so I really haven't been able to watch day to day proceedings. I have to say that you were all the first people I thought of when the verdict came in. Well, the kids are getting some well earned screen time today so I can watch this phase.

Welcome...you picked a great day!

Jodi's gonna tell the jury about herself. That's gonna be a wild ride through some fog. :scratchin

Nurmi explains that the jurors do no have to agree on the mitigating factors they need to come up with their own decisions.

Is it normal that JA's mom doesn't cry? I would like to think that if it had been me as the defendant my mom would have been crying much more as she felt totally out of control in trying to help her daughter

If that were my kid, I'd be a hot mess as a mother. Even if I knew in my heart of hearts that she was guilty, it's still my kid and I'd be a wreck!

Nurmi just confirmed that #JodiArias will take the stand at some point in this penalty phase.

I call it a joke, she has had no remorse from the start. And having any remorse now? The jury won't buy it. I don't buy it. It will be interesting to hear what she has to say for her self.

Sorry, but to me "lack of family support" and "abused as a child/adult" sound exactly like excuses as to why she committed the crime. :rolleyes2

My whole issue with the mitgation argument is the hypocrisy of it. She didn't take any mitigating factors into consideration when she sentenced Travis to death.

--------
Sorry if any of you read that before I corrected it...WTH was I thinking??

Jodes looks tired. I'm sure she was up all night perfecting the words she would use to attempt to gain sympathy and play the jury...while making sure to make backhanded comments about Travis and possibly his family.

Nurmi puts up the 8 mitigating factors on the screens. He is going through each one now with the jury.

::yes::I noticed that too. It seems very telling of the family dynamic. :scared::worried:

She'll no doubt say she had a great life before she met Travis. Then try to trash him more.

Personally, I don't think that she's medicated at all. I don't even know that reality has set in. I think that she's still playing a roll and trying to gain sympathy.

I don't think she is medicated either. It's just part of her game. She looks like crap today and I think that was also on purpose.

Thought impact statements were first? How long will opening arguments be? I'm watching on HLN (help me!!!!) and right away we have a sidebar. Ugh

Can you watch it stream on line? I have HLN on but no volume and it is talking way too many breaks and missing a lot!

Now we know why she was doodling, she's going to show her drawings...

Thanks for keeping up with the tweets, T-Man. :goodvibes

Sure thing. I know we have some people out there who can't watch at the moment, but follow along with what we post.

We will hear from Arias' friends and ex-boyfriends, Nurmi says. Not sure if they will be testifying or if they wrote letters.

Yay, Jodes is going to talk about her artwork and the jury will get to see some of it. Yep, that's a reason to keep her alive, because she's making such a great contribution to society ... with her ART.
