Nurmi only mentioned why Womack didn't want to appear ... Why couldn't Darryl Brewer appear on behalf of JA? ... Is he glued to Womack or something? ... And the judge should have made JA speak today ... Not give her overnight to rehearse her speech ... She had all weekend to do that ... Just shows that JA is the ultimate puppet master of this entire trail ...

This is getting ridiculous. If I was on the jury, all these delays would not be making me a happy juror.

I hope they're not listening to the news and keep their cool and just feel that "it is what it is" and go with the flow. Because if they speak afterwards, the DT is going to listen to everything they say that could be used in an appeal.

I wonder if Nurmi was just having a pissy hissy fit and blurted out that whiny statement about not having any witnesses. Maybe when he cools off, they'll decide to have Darryl testify. He's one of the few defense witnesses who sounded somewhat likeable. Is that what Jodi wants? Because she IS the defendant, she IS part of her DT, and you know she's running the show, which is her right (except that most defendants take their attorneys' advice).

I would not be at all surprised if they try to tell her what NOT to say tomorrow (IF she speaks tomorrow...who the hell knows what's going to happen with this case?!), and she won't listen. She is going to get her digs in wherever she can, to Travis, to his family. She's a loose cannon.

As I have said before, the standard for ineffective assistance of counsel is INCREDIBLY low. That's not going to happen.

So the skanky woman didn't show because she claimed she was intimidated? What's Brewer's excuse?

I typically keep on on the trial through this thread while at work and then watch HLN in the evening. What I don't understand is why they couldn't just have Jody testify beginning immediately? Why do they need to delay until tomorrow morning? Was a reason given?

If I was on this jury, I would be hopping mad!!!!

My guess is under 20 minutes...theres not much she can brag about and we know she is not going to go out quietly or with an apology......she now believes her own version....delusional ...

IMHO.......My impression of the defense team is that they are not able to handle their loss and they are going down with angst rather than end with strength for their client

Not sure anyone mentioned this yet...but one of the things that Patty Womack said in response to JM when he interviewed her was that Jodi didn't have a rough life growing up, as far as she saw.

And, per Beth Karas, the last order of business before closing arguments would be for the defendant to testify in this phase of the trial. So these other witnesses would have to come first. So I wouldn't be surprised if Judge Stephens is trying to be damn sure that there will be no other witnesses; she's probably going to try to work this out before tomorrow, maybe talk to Jodi, get this on record that she agrees with her attorneys.

Stephens will read a modified statement but will not read it all regarding Womack.

I tuned back in to the live feed at my desk as the judge was saying this, but I'm not sure what she meant. Is she reading some statement regarding Womack to the jury? Is that supposed to be in place of her testifying? And when will that be if Jodi is giving her statement at 9:30 am tomorrow?

No. It's not up to the jury to know why there's a delay. None of their business. They need to know what's being presented to them regarding the case, not anything behind the scenes.

She will begin with talking about when she was a wee little fetus in her mother's womb and will continue until she uses every single word in the Webster's dictionary at least once ... This is her last hoorah in front of the cameras ... She has no intentions of going quietly, IMO ...

With no witnesses the jury has only one person to work with, hmmmm...I don't think that will fly. Odds are they won't pay attention. If Darryl had not shown up the defense would have filed another motion for a non shown up witness.

Besides that there have been no threats against Darryl that I have heard of. Hmmm...I am going to look something up.

How many times have there been an inmate who testifies in court, one way or another, and their credibility is attacked. It DOES matter WHO the person is. Ain't it a ***** that the DT couldn't get better witnesses on Jodi's behalf. Let's see...Jodi BUTCHERED Travis, and now we're having a hard time finding quality people in her life to say what a fabulous person she is? Ya think?

She is definitely a loose cannon, but I can't help but believe that her priority is going to be trying to manipulate this jury (as much as she would like to continue to take potshots at the Alexanders). Since they've found her guilty, she knows where they stand, and I suspect she'll try to make herself look pitiful - like she did during trial. OTOH though, there is NOOO telling what that nut will do.

What a visual! The courtroom set up like an art gallery, and Jodi with a pointer proudly pointing out how she can stick a juror's face smack in the middle of an advertisement. Then JM could come back with her photography skills from the day of June 4, 2008.

The prosecution is always getting the blame. Why not blame yourself. I am sure that the judge has gotten advice from other judges on these matters as well, so it will cover her as well. So this is the 3rd time that Jodi's DT has asked to be dismissed. I am sure JSS is getting tired of hearing this motion as well. I think the DT needs to be told that due their own client they have hurt themselves. To many people taking , giving interviews, lying on the stand. Not claiming taxes on sold pictures. Jodi giving an interview right after sentencing. Nurmi should be pissed at Jodi for saying Nurmi she had no mitigating factors.

They need time to write out her statement before tomorrow. There is nothing Jodi can say,or show that will help. At this point I don't think remorse is an option for show and tell. The jurors would see right through her.
