Joan Van Ark... YIKES!

Remember Nicolette Sheridan that also played on Knots Landing. She is on Desperate Housewives and her face looks really old too. She used to be really pretty. I think she is 41 and she wants to look 20.

:lmao:

I just got told I resembled her on the "Look Alike" thread. However in my case, I'm 41 and am not trying to look younger.

There... I think I just made myself feel better...

It almost looks as though she is bruised - maybe she recently had surgery and it hasn't finished healing? I do know that with almost any plastic surgery procedure you look worse before you look better. Maybe that is the case here. I can't imagine what else would cause that bruised look. :confused3

I never thought about that. It make sense.

JVA has (naturally) thin lips, especially the upper one. For years, she has tried to puff those babies up. It looks like she went a little overboard. :scared1: She also has natually pale eyebrows....I have no idea if those things are drawn or tattooed on. It looks like you can still see the hair of her real eyebrows and they don't match in location.

She looks like she's had a recent chemical peel. My aunt had one and looked like this. Maybe even some Botox between her eyebrows. She needs to lay off! I think she was a sun worshipper in the past. Her skin may be paying the price now and she's trying to smooth out some wrinkles and get rid of some age spots.

But as someone said, you can't look 20-30 forever. And even when you try, the attempts usually fail. So you're better off with just minor adjustments. Too much often equals too scary.

Here's an article I found while browsing for news. I'll post some of the article below.

If you click on that link and look at the old photo, you'll see that she had drawn-on eyebrows back then too. It's just that the makeup job was a LOT better. And her lips were thin back then. Not everyone has bee-sting lips. It's not a crime. :rotfl2: Someday all the children of the earth, the thin-lipped and the full-lipped, will live in harmony and peace.....:hippie:

I actually think she looks a lot better with thin lips.

She looks like she's had a recent chemical peel.

What I read said she DID just have a chemical peel.

That would explain a lot of her look. Someone (her or her makeup person?) tried to tone down the redness from the peel but applying that "mask" or really too light foundation or whatever it is.

I'd say once she is healed and the redness goes away and she has properly applied makeup that she'll look a whole lot better.

I agree with Judi, women should be feel free to age gracefully. Can you imagine how old we're gonna look compared to Brooke Shields and actresses our age when we are 70 if we do not go under the knife or get injections? :lmao:

I've seen interviews somewhere with Ms. Sheridan where she insists that she has had no work done. Yeah, RIGHT.

agnes!

I don't understand how some of the plastic surgeons in La la land are stil working. Don't these people know they look atrocious? I am so tired of the joker look. The area around her mouth looks bruised-maybe from another procedure.

I heard someone on the radio discussing plastic surgery and he said that when the stars insist like that they usually are telling the truth.........

but,

they are usually very careful in how they word things. Like someone may say that they have not had a face lift.
They may have had a brow lift and a chin lift and an outer eye lift and an inner eye lift, a lid lift, but they can truthfully say they never had a face lift.

I've actually thought about that, mainly because so many women in this area have work done. I can't tell you how odd it is to see these women with the hands and neck of a 70 year old and taunt skin and DDs standing straight at attention. :rotfl: Its honestly creepy looking to me. I'm o.k. with getting old, I prefer it to creepy. I won't be going under the knife for vanity reasons, I've already made up my mind about this. In my 30s I wasn't sure how I felt about it, but now that I'm in my mid 40s and middle age has set in, I've decided I like aging. I consider aging a little like battle wounds, and I'm proud of my scars! :thumbsup2

I love Joan Van Ark, I watched her for 14 years as Valene on Knots Landing, and I think I only missed 2 episodes and that was to give birth to my 2 kids! I don't think she looks that bad, as someone else said here, with the right makeup she could look alot better. I read online that she is 64. I hope she doesnt get anymore surgery.

Yikes. :scared1: An untouched photo.

Why do women do this? Why can't we age gracefully in this country?

From what I remember, she was one of the first to get those stupid looking fat lip injections.

That has to be photoshopped... She looks like the Crypt Keeper!

Not photoshopped. Saw her recently on some TV show that had segment about plastic surgery in Hollywood. :sad2: She was interviewed. It wasn't just a photo of her.

When I lived in LA, she and her husband (who is/was a news anchor in LA) used to eat at a restaurant we would go to all the time. Sadly, she always looked as bad as this pic, only I remember her wearing white lipstick that looked like sparkly zinc oxide too. :scared:

I used to think it was strange that someone who spent so much time in the make up chair with professionals working on her never picked up any tips.

I have one very simple question:

I realize that celebrities need to be in the spotlight, but why didn't she just stay home??? It makes me think that she doesn't see herself as we see her. Sort of like women who wear horrible make-up. Don't they see it when they look into the mirror???

I read the FOx article, and for someone who requires 4 hours of lighting to get it "perfect", she obviously doesn't put a much thought into what regular lighting reveals. It's sad, really. She can't keep doing that forever.

Oh I hope so. But if that's the case why was she even out in public? Her skin is grey!
