Jennifer’s Journey to lose 200 pounds (comments welcomed and appreciated)

Jennifer, you go girl! I am really impressed with your food and exercise. Your treadmill thing is inspiring me to get back on mine! Be really, really proud of yourself, you deserve to be! That is great you lost a pound, I know its hard sometimes when you are used to losing a bit more, but one pound is actually a wonderful loss. That is four sticks of butter off your body for good! Keep up the good work and thanks so much for all your support in my journal. :)

Had an ok food day yesterday. I ate 1796 calories with 31 grams of fiber. I didn’t make my goal of one gallon of water. I was about 20oz short. My weekly average is 1627.I’m feeling really blah these last couple of days. I’m hoping exercising will help today. I took yesterday off from the gym. Today I’m hoping for 65 minutes on the treadmill and my weight training routine.

Can I ask about fiber? I've been working on eating more, but I guess I'm not sure how or where to find it.

I eat Fiber One cereal for breakfast pretty often (it has like 14 g./serving or something like that.)

But then I'm stuck. Whole wheat bread is good, but I don't want to eat too much bread. What veggies have a lot of fiber?

Sorry to crowd your journal with silly questions, but you do such a great job with your eating, so I thought I'd get some advice :)

It’s not a silly question. I used to struggle with fiber also. :)

I start my day off with a fiber one chewy bar. They are new and are DELICIOUS! They have 9 grams of fiber. Good for you for eating your twigs, ;) I mean cereal every morning. I really could not do that every day.

I usually have 8 ounces of strawberries every day. That has five grams of fiber. Sometimes I’ll eat a large apple 7 or 8 ounces that has 6 grams of fiber.

I love marina sauce and usually eat it every day. 1 serving has two grams of fiber and I usually eat two or three servings. Barilla makes a pasta that has 4 grams of fiber per serving. It’s called Barilla plus, it’s in a yellow box.

I love zone bars most of them have 3 grams of fiber per bar.

I eat a half-cup of corn a lot of days. It has two grams of fiber.

Weight watchers makes ice cream desserts that have 4 grams of fiber. I love the cookies –n-cream bar. They also have candy made by Russel Stover that has fiber in it. I think about 1.5 grams per piece.

Hostess makes these 100 calorie pack snack cakes and the chocolate ones have 5 grams per serving.

I eat a lot of different fruits all year. Depending on what is in season. Most fruits are a great source of fiber. Tropicana even has an orange juice with 3 grams per 8 ounce serving.

Well, that’s what I do. I hope I helped you a little.

Hi Jennifer,

You are doing such a great job...Keep up the great work.

After reading your journal, I decided to start working out 6 days a week and having a day off. I was trying to work out for 5 days and take Saturday and Sunday off, but decided to change that. Thank you for the inspiration!!!

Keep up the great work!!!

Have a great day :)

Glad I could help. ;)

I don't like taking the weekend off because that is the hardest time for me to stay on track food wise. Working out keeps me centered.

Wow, Jennifer you are doing great! Congratulations on meeting your exercise challenge so early in the month! And thank you for all the ideas on how to add fiber to my daily intake. Lots of great suggestions there.

Keep up the awesome work! :thumbsup2

I feel so awful today. I’m so run down and tired. I don’t know what is going on. I really wanted to walk on the treadmill today for 65 minutes. I was really waffling about that. I told myself I could do 45 minutes. It’s better than not doing it at all. So, I’m on the treadmill and I could barely finish the 25 minutes I did do. I felt shaky and weak. I decided to go eat lunch and come back to do my weight training. I went back to finish my workout and it was really tough. I managed to get all my weight training done, but I’m still so tired. I hope I feel better tomorrow.

Thank you. It's so nice to hear I'm doing well from others. :goodvibes

I like how you think of a one pound loss. Four sticks is alot of fat!

Your welcome and I hope everything is going well for you today. :goodvibes

Jennifer -- Do NOT ignore your body's signals. You are obviously tired and worn down. I don't want you to end up like me, so sick that you can't do ANYTHING for more than a week. Please take a break. Give your body at least one rest day tomorrow. Sending you :goodvibes: and pixiedust: for feeling good soon!

You are probably right. It’s just hard to take more time off to rest than I originally planned. But I will rest tomorrow. I know it will be better for me in the long term.

Thank you, thank you! I guess I forgot that fruit and veggies have so much fiber in them. It's so weird, I really love fruit, I just don't eat it very often.

I just bought that Barilla Plus pasta and had it for dinner. You can't even tell it's different than regular pasta!

I'm sorry today was a bit rough. I think that every so often, the body just needs a break. Mine was today too--just needed to rest. But at least you got the weight training and some cardio in. That's awesome!

Hope you have a great day tomorrow!

Your welcome. I never realized how much fiber is in fruits an veggies untill I started to enter them in fitday.

I can't tell the diffrence with the pasta either, that's why I love it.

You have a great day tomorrow also. :goodvibes

Hi Jennifer, don't worry that you struggled with exercising, you have been working out really hard and maybe your body needed a bit of a break. However, 25 minutes of cardio followed by weight training is no break in my book! You are really working hard, don't let a reduced but still very valuable workout get you down. Keep up your hard work, get a good nights sleep and tomorrow you will have more energy! Here's to losing more sticks of butter for all of us!

Hi Jennifer,

I agree with everyone else....listen to your body and take a rest....You are doing great, you made your exercise challenge, you probably just need a break for a day or two.

You are doing a great job!!! Keep up the good work and don't let a day or two of rest get you down!

Have a great day :)

Thanks everyone for your support. :grouphug: I really appreciate it. I’m feeling mostly better today. I’m sure by tomorrow I’ll be at 100%. Ready to jump back on the exercise wagon.

I had a really messed up food day yesterday. I was so hungry. I mean really hungry, not just craving something. I ended up eating 2300 calories. I made healthy choices and ended up with 47 grams of fiber. I also drank 144 ounces of water yesterday. My weekly average is now 1797.

so glad you are feeling better . How do you manage to drink the water? I still seem to struggle with this I end up feeling really bloated or forgetting about it all together:goodvibes

I start my morning with 40 ounces. Then when I work out I drink another 24 ounces. My day has barely started and I'm half done. The other 64 ounces I drink when I eat. It's easy enough once I got used to it. But once change in my routine and it's messes up my water schedule.

I read somewhere the secret to not being bloated is to drink more water. It said the body only holds onto water when it's not getting enough. (TOM not included. ;) )

I’m feeling much better today thanks everyone for your support.:grouphug:

Yesterday I ate 1400 calories with 11 grams of fiber. I drank 90 ounces of water. My weekly average was 1717 calories.

Today I ate 1679 calories with 33 grams of fiber. I drank 128 ounces of water. My weekly average is 1711 calories.

I took a 10-minute walk outside and did 65 minutes on the treadmill. I climbed 788 feet and walked 2.6 miles. I burned 775 calories. I also did 30 minutes of weight training.
