January 8, 2006- 4 night Wonder- Anybody else coming with?

JoyCrazy...I am very sorry for your loss. Our prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time.

JoyCrazy - I am sorry to hear about your loss. Please stay safe traveling.

As far as meeting at the port before boarding - I have no idea what time we will arrive since DH is running the marathon that morning. I imagine we will leave Disney World by 1:00 (hopefully). You all will probably be on board and totally relaxed by the time we arrive :)

Why don't we pick a time on the ship so everyone can go to the meet ? Then the late arrivials and runners can also participate if they like.

JoyCrazy, I'm so sorry to hear about the untimely death of your uncle. Travel safely, so that you can travel safely again.

I think that it is likely some of us will meet up in the terminal.

But I think a proper meeting should be set up for everyone onboard the ship. That way everyone has the chance to attend who want to attend.

Someone just has to pick a time and a place.

The Promenade lounge worked pretty good because it is a big open area with seating and beverages available. Also it probably won't be busy the first few hours onboard the ship.

As for a time.... that's a little harder to arrange. Maybe right AFTER the lifeboat drill, say at 4:15 - 4:20 would be an option. We really don't need a lot of time together, just time to say hello, memorize a few faces and names :teeth: and go on our ways. That time fits nicely between the lifeboat drill and the sailaway party.

We could also do it a bit later maybe 5:30 but then those with early dinner seatings might be busy getting ready.

Once you get to dinner hours there is too much going on in all different directions.

I don't know........ what does everyone else think :confused3

Cruisin'--I think that is a good idea. Meeting up right after the drill would work for the DH and I!

Right after the life boat drill sounds good to us. Looking forward to meeting everyone and saying Hi!

A belated Merry Christmas to everyone! It seems like I am off the boards for a few days and I miss waaay to much. :guilty: I have just been so busy preparing for Christmas and traveling to see relatives, I've been away from the computer. I need a laptop... but Santa did not bring one. I did get a new digital camera and 1 GB memory card for my hundreds of Disney pics!! You won't recognize me without my camera, its an extra apendage.

JoyCrazy...sorry to hear about your uncle. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.

Wow, Jan 8 is coming up fast! I got a call from Vacations To Go yesterday, our docs are on the way, should arrive Thursday. I was getting a bit worried, esp. since everyone else seems to have theirs. At least I know they are coming. Other than packing, I have to make some calls about transportation details. Then I will feel "ready to go."

What is everyone packing - a little bit for hot weather and a little bit for cooler? I am starting to get a bit nervous...will we have everything we need or will we have too much? I should just be glad we're going and relax, but that would be too easy!! :rotfl2:

I am looking forward to a meet on the ship. After the drill should be fine. I will be so happy to have that orange vest off by that time!! I hate those things. So when does the sail away party start...promptly at 5 or before? I can't remember. I don't want the girls to miss the characters and their little show. I especially don't want to miss their faces when the horn goes off! Sheer Disney magic!

I am going to head up to Home Depot this week for green Mickey heads for our door. Vicki, using those for name tags would be a great idea when we meet. I was going to put one on my backpack at WDW too, in case I met up with any DISers while walking along.

I really hope Flightplan is on the ship. I wanted to see that at the theaters but never got around to it. And I'd love to see Narnia again - the girls loved it and DH has not seen it yet. If we can find the time, that is!!

We'll keep our eye out for a green t-shirt at the terminal, Cruisin!

12 days and counting! :cheer2:

Thanks for all the kind thoughts. We really appreciate them. I'm just going to try to get through one day at a time. My boss was so awesome about me needing extra time off before our trip. It's against the law here to refuse time off to goto a funeral. But some people can still try to give you a hard time. She was great. Is it against the law in the States too?

On a happier note I went to pick up our tickets from ama today and big surprise our agent wasn't there. I would've been shocked if she was. That we might actually meet our TA before our trip! It's a good thing I talked to another agent because she caught a mistake that was made on our schedule. (The TA who obvisouly hates me will now be hereafter known as Tinkles)
Tinkles put on our schedule that we catch a 3:45pm flight back from Orlando. Our actual tickets say 2:01pm. That could've been nasty. Thankfully all the agents we've met in person have been competent pleasent people. I'm definitely not booking with Tinkles again though.

Right after the boat drill will work for us too.

One week from right now, we will be standing on Main Street USA waiting for the rope drop! I can't wait :cheer2:

After the boat drill sounds good - I am looking forward to putting faces with names. I am really bad at names, by the way. So I apologize in advance for forgetting your name...but I usually always remember a face.

JoyCrazy-It's great that your boss was so nice about letting you have the extra time. I don't know if it's a law here or not. I wouldn't think so considering how some bosses act. Something like that is stressful enough, and having a boss who doesn't want to let you have any time off doesn't help any!

Well, I talked to a lady at DCL who is trying to get us Palo ressies. I called her on Friday and she returned my call yesterday. She asked for the time and day that I wanted and when I told her she said that she was going to send in a request for it, and she would let me know when it was confirmed. I thought that was very nice of her!

Guess I'm gonna start working on my packing list. I'm starting to get a little nervous! I just don't want to forget anything...I keep having these dreams about forgetting my camera!! :earseek:

Last night was finally my first after Christmas mall trip. :cool1: Had to get a new piece of luggage since we "lost" a garment bag. How can a green garment bag just disappear? Very strange !!!!!! I'm keeping the tags on the new piece untill we are going to the airport, just in case the old luggage shows up. :rotfl: Fortunately, I was able to pick up one for really a good price.

I'll continue to pack since the clock is ticking away. :hourglass

I'm also going to pick up a few more green Mickey heads at Home Depot. I'll pack a sharpie pen, hole punch, tape, and even "pins" for anyone who would like.

Just want to confirm the meet location....have we all decided on the Promenade Lounge at 4:15 - 4:20 ??

Count me and the DH in!!

Speaking of garment bags...I've never used one, but I have one that came with our luggage. I'm assuming that if you wanted to use one, that would count as 1 piece of your luggage, and would need to be tagged? I know this sounds silly, but would it be better to use a garment bag than just a regular suitcase for a dress or a suit? Just wondering if I need to plan to take our dressier clothes in the garment bag instead?

 Morning all.

The time is coming closer :hourglass

One week from today, we will be into our second day of travel towards WDW :goodvibes Probably arrive at the POP Century late afternoon.

I keep checking the weather forecast and some days I like it and other days I don't :confused3 I sure wish they would make up their minds. It does look like it will be sunny and semi warm at least the whole time that we are there :sunny:

We like garment bags since they are not bulky as another large piece of luggage and I like keeping as many things as I can on coat hangers and keep the plastic cleaners bags over everything. Depending on the clothing, I think it works better than my large bag. But then again I over pack and I'm sure I don't pack as the experts recomend you do. I love the large, really large zip lock bags for all my other stuff like shorts, tanks, socks, etc. I hate the idea with airport security going through all your personal items. At least when things are bagged it doesn't creep me out as much strangers going through my stuff. (call me weird)

I'm really trying not to bring too much stuff this vacation. I know DH would REALLY appreciate it, more so his back would appreciate it. :rotfl:

Joy, I'm very sorry to hear about your uncle. I hope you guys have a safe trip there and back, our thoughts are with you.

While each state has different employment laws, I'm fairly certain that there is probably not any states that requires an employer to allow time off for this sort of thing. I know for sure that Texas (as many states) is a "work at will" state, which means except for discrimination or "whistle blower", they can let you go without cause and for any reason, just as the employee can leave for any reason. I know when my grandmother died, my cousin's husband was told he had to work or be fired (ironically, I was sent off with my employers condolences, but laid off the day I got back  But that was just bad timing and not b/c of the funeral).

UGA - I hope you get the Palo ressies, best of luck!

I once lost a piece of luggage for a while...only to find it tucked inside of a bigger piece of luggage. That's what I get for being organized (which is also the same reason why when I can't find my shoes anywhere, usually it's b/c I actually put them in the closet).

As for the whole thing about husbands not bothering with gifts, can I just say if DH tried that he'd rue the day first drew breath. To put it succinctly and crudely, your husbands deserve to be b**ch slapped by a sumu sized thug until they squeal like a little girl. Normally, I'd offer to put on some big boots and give them a swift kick in the rear as a sign of womanly solidarity, but it being vacation I'll be leaving my boots behind. Luckily DH was born with a good sense of self preservation and is more then a little tender hearted, so he tries his best on holidays. Being a guy, the gifts can be a disaster of epic proportions, but his heart is in the right place and I love him for it.

BTW: I was on pins and needles watching Intellicast. I saw there was a chance for rain on Thursday and just groaned. Glad to open it up this morning and see sun for Friday :) Though and 8 degree temp drop from a high of 73 to a high of 65. Still not bad though, right? Keep your fingers and toes crossed people!

What internet weather site does everyone look at to get the weather for Florida?

I'm hoping to find one that I actually like the forecast :rotfl:

Luggage stored in luggage...we've checked a couple of times. Oh well!

As far as the weather reports...I like Yahoo weather, CNN weather, I just enter "weather" into the google site and keep checking them one by one. Hopefully, I will find a report I like. I'm also hooked on printing out the 10 day forecasts.
Lately, I have just been going to the DCL site and use the weather options they have. You can get the different Disney locations along with the different ports of call.

Arrraghhh! I just started going through my kids clothes to put aside for the trip. My oldest has NOTHING to wear. She has had a major growth spurt since summer and this was one year that I didn't buy a bunch of larger sizes on sale at the end of the year. I didn't want to have to lug it over to the new house. My other daughter has lots of hand-me-downs to choose from but seems to only like wearing two or three different things. When I was in the hospital for 3 days when the baby was born, she wore the same dress everyday. (My mom washed it for her each night.) I about died knowing she went to school each day like that.

I am going to end up overpacking a ridiculous amount since the weather is going to be unpredicatable. (I just spelled that wrong, but too tired to think of the right spelling.)

Good night!

Ohhhh Boy I with you on the over packing. I taking more pairs of shoes than the number of vacations days we be gone. And I'm not even done yet. I just can help it, I've got to match! I think it is a sickness that goes hand in hand with the over planning. :rotfl:
