January 8, 2006- 4 night Wonder- Anybody else coming with?

WOW Cruisin, that's a heck of a present!! :moped: I love mini's, but I always thought I would look like I was getting out of a clown car :rolleyes1

got our docs yesterday :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: what a great almost christmas present!!

Merry christmas everyone, see you in 2 weeks!!!!!!!! :Pinkbounc  :Pinkbounc

My DH is a wonderful man, but not a thoughtful one. He almost never buys any presents and forget about ever getting a card. Well, my laptop crashed this fall and we've been having trouble getting it up and running again. So, he bought me a new laptop as my Christmas present, my only present. It came on Wednesday. I didn't even get to open the box and take it out. He did. I thought, "that's pretty sh@#%y" since it is the only gift I will have on Christmas morning. (I will have some on Tuesday to open when we celebrate with my family so I'm not totally out of luck.) But still, to have nothing on Christmas is going to suck. Sorry for venting. I feel like a five year old now.

9 days and we'll be in my fun place...9 days and we'll be in my fun place... drink and repeat.

I've always wanted to buy my hubby a new car for his birthday...just show up with it and watch his face. He's always had the clunker car while I've always gotten the nice one. I do feel guilty, especially when I make fun of his car. :rotfl: Congrats Cruisin!!

I can't count the number of years that there were no gifts for me under the tree. When the kids were little I used to buy myself small things... socks, underwear, a book.... and wrap them and put them under the tree so the kids wouldn't wonder why Mommy got no gifts :guilty:

Every now and again he surprises me with something... once it was a video camera and now this car. Of course, I don't actually HAVE it yet, nor has one been found or purchased but I have the piece of paper that says I can have one :teeth: I'll just make sure that I don't lose that piece of paper.

10 more sleeps until we leave :sunny:

Put that paper some place safe!!!

I let my kids wonder why mommy doesn't have any presents, hoping daddy will get the hint.

I will admit DH isn't getting much from me this year either...just some running stuff for the half and full marathon. With the new house and our trip, we aren't spending much on other stuff. Even the kids are only getting one "good" gift and a couple (3) other small (cheap) gifts.

Santa only brings one gift which we started from our oldest's first christmas so that's all they expect from him. That was the smartest thing we ever did. So DH has very little to assemble on Christmas eve...which he's doing right now while I sit on my fanny! :rolleyes1

I think I'll put that paper in the fireproof box ;)

I didn't get mine too much either but he did spend a fortune on model airplane stuff this year, along with travelling to competitions and stuff. I guess he got his gifts all summer long.

That's so sad - I don't think it's asking too much for him to get out there and find SOMETHING for under the tree (although the car is a very cool gift). My boyfriend hasn't bought gifts for anyone for years...perhaps decades. Needless to say, he's got some learnin' to do, lol! I think romance - he thinks more practical, like things to improve safety (hands-free device for the cell phone in the car, etc). He does make an effort thinking what might be meaningful to me, though - as an example, my birthday was last month. We've only known each other a couple of years, and his career is in baseball. He knows I enjoy wearing his jerseys on our sports day at work, and he's given me a few of them. In the 80's he played in the major leagues - on the Orioles. His jersey from those days is somewhat ratty-looking, since he wore it in all the games. He's working with the Oriole's to get a replacement, with his name/number - so I'll have his jersey but it'll look nice. A baseball shirt may not sound as romantic as some nice jewelry, lol - but I do love the thought behind it, and it's something nobody else in the world will ever have....so it's special.

We're doing our Christmas on 1/6/06 at Old Key West, because we had to be apart on 12/25. We'll see what he comes up with for that!

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas today!

Yeah, it's kind of pitiful isn't it .

I always found things to give to him ;)

Don't worry I make him pay in the end. If I want something I just go and buy it for myself :rotfl2:

The baseball shirt would be a very nice gift. Very personal and special for you to have.

I don't know why it so hard for men to get gifts. My DH always complains that he never knows what to get me. I do have to compile an extensive list and place it in a prominent place, though (and he still asks where is the list? do you have a list?). There are always cheap standbys... socks, candles, bath stuff. Girls are so easy to get little gifts for. I think men just like to do BIG gifts or nothing. And they think the BIG stuff should count for a couple of years!

Do you think they'll have "The Chronicles of Narnia - The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe" for the movie theater on the cruise? I know it just came out this month and I really would like to see it.... of course, I may be too busy anyway to watch a movie on the cruise.

I don't know for 100 % sure but I'm thinking it's a pretty good bet that the movie will be shown onboard.

You may be too busy, but maybe you will be able to squeeze the little bit of time you need out of your schedule. ;)

I know what you mean about men and the big gifts. I'm thinking the Mini is going to have to last me for the rest of my life :rotfl:

Oh yeah, I'll get the movie list from our room and post it for you in the next day or so...

I know Chicken Little, Narnia, I'll be home for Christmas, and Flight Plan are playing, gotta check the list for the rest

Here is a partial list of what is showing on the Magic as of right now, today. If she posts the rest of the list I will let you know. :)

I know this was brought up a while back, but I just wanted to ask again and see if anyone else was up for getting a meet together onboard. I know it has been great posting with everyone here, and just thought it would be cool to meet some of y'all once we get onboard. Please don't think I'm pressuring...I know this is vacation, and everyone wants to do their own thing...I just wanted to ask again in case there was anyone else who might want to do it...especially since the days are really getting close!

A short DISmeet is fine with me, if anybody else wants to do it.

Picking a time and a place is harder to do  Because once you get on board you don't want to miss out on anything. :earboy2:

The last cruise I went on we had a short DISmeet in the Promenade lounge at about 5pm. That's right at sailaway though, and there is a great deck party we won't want to miss.

Really the whole idea, in my opinion is so that we can meet each other and when we run across each other on the ship again, we can stop and chat for a bit and discuss what's happening etc. I really liked that last time. Some people I saw a whole lot of times after the DISmeet and other people I never saw again :confused3

Anybody have any opinions on when and where to meet?

I know that I plan on wearing my lime green DIS T-shirt that was made for me by a fellow DISer.

I should be pretty easy to pick out at the terminal and onboard the ship, at least for the first few hours of the cruise ;)

Hi everyone.....Boy I am really ready for this vacation NOW!!!! It's been a long week.
Glad someone brought up the subject of a meet before everyone starts traveling in from all over. DH and I are interested in a DIS meet. It would be great to meet everyone face to face. I just wondering if most of us are showing up early at the port is there a good time to do it while we avoid missing the sail away party and the life boat drill???

Cruisin...we will definately keep our eyes open out for you and your green DIS shirt. I hope you'll be easy to find.

I've got a pile of green mickey mouse home depot paint shapes I can bring so we can use as name tags if anyone would like? I even tried contacting the DIS shop and no one ever returned my call. I wanted to get a button or something for us for the cruise so it would be easier for other DIS'ers to find....oh well.

Lets start planning again and pick a time. :)

A cruise meet sounds like a good idea to me! :cheer2:
Has the past week gone by at warp speed for anyone else? I thought the last two weeks would just drag but I can barely keep up.With work and xmas it's all just a blur. Although I had fun Boxing Day shopping. I went to Walmart and picked up a couple sets of those XL ziploc bags for packing. Some Magnetic Strip Tape for hanging our Door Sign's and Reminington Steele season one DVD for $20. (I was crazy about that show as a kid!) I also scored big and got Firefly the complete series DVD for $29 at Futureshop. (I just saw Serenity and was blown away) Everywhere else I checked was at 59.99. I wanted Civilization IV but it was sold out. Oh well I lived. :rolleyes1 : I was mightily tempted by some other goodies that cost a lot more but reason prevailed. Well reason and the foresight of leaving the credit card at home. :rotfl:

Edited to say that I'm really excited that Flightplan might be playing. I really wanted to see that and It didn't come to our small town. :sad2:

I am up for trying to get something together at the port before we board the ship...That is if everyone else thinks that they will have time. Actually, I am up for meeting wherever.

Tell me when and where I'll be there.

I'm not going to be very active for the next few days our uncle unexpectedly passed away on Boxing Day. We're going to be gone out of province for the funeral and back just in time to pack. It's all pretty much a shock.

JoyCrazy--I am sorry to hear about your uncle. I hope that all goes well, and that you make it there and back safely!
