January 2013

OK I got nervous about the report for the first week in January. So we just made the switch. We are now going January 5-10 BLT LV and January 10-12 AKL Kidani Savannah View. We have never stayed at AKL but are very excited about the savannah view. We are waitlisted for BLT for the last two nights but I think I might cancel the waitlist. Our kids are so excited about the savannah view.

Does anyone have anything to share at Kidani? I am starting my research now.

The work conference that we were building the trip around is on a different date than we had originally expected, so we've moved our trip. We're now going to BLT from January 18-25. Were not able to get the same room class/view and are going to have to change rooms after a couple of days, unfortunately, but I'm happy we were still able to get something at BLT.

That is where I would love to stay, in a TPV room. The DH is surprisingly leaning toward the GF or the Poly.[/QUOTE]

We've fallen in love with BLT after only one stay there. Have not done TPV just yet, but I'm sure we will at some point down the road. Even without it, though, the fact that you can see the MK when you're pretty much everywhere other than your room makes up for it. I've actually come to really enjoy the walk back and forth, too. It's closer than it looks, and is a great transition between the hustle and bustle of the parks and the relative serenity of the resort.

I had to cancel a trip for this August so I'm excited that I get to move one of my 2013 trips up a few months. I'm taking my Niece to WDW for her 10th birthday January 15th to 21st.

:welcome: & added. Will it be you Niece's first trip?

Gotcha changed. I have no advice on Kidani. We've never even stepped foot onto AKL property.

The only thing that I don't really care for is the decor, but then I fill the same way about the CR. However, the location, especially with a TPV, I am willing to over look the decor not being my favorite.

I might not be around much the next couple of days and not at all this weekend. My DH's grandmother (his mom's mother) died today of cancer. I'm sure they will have the funeral this weekend and it wil be on the other side of Texas.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

I'm not much help there either. I've never been to AKL before, but I think we're going to stay at AKL for the night before our cruise, so I'm just starting to research it too. Our cruise isn't until next May, so I even still have some time before our 7 month window opens up and I can book it.

Count us in!! We're going 1/11-1/19 and I'm signing up for my first 1/2 marathon. IN DISNEY!!!! I'm so super excited!! Found out last night my MIL wants to go, so she'll watch the boys so hubby and I can run together! Not sure yet if we'll get two rooms at Pop or try POR. Excited to be planning with you all!

Thank you very much. My heart just breaks for my mil. She was on her way to her mother, when she got the call that she had passed. They would have left earlier, but the fil had a follow up doctor appointment from his 2nd spinal surgery that he just couldn't miss. The fil blames himself for her not being there when her mother passed. Her father died in 1989 from cancer as well, and she wasn't there when he passed. She had been with him for months, and flew back home to see her husband and children for the weekend near her wedding anniversary. While she was gone, he passed. Needless to say, she is not doing well at all. Luckily, they the family had the time to make the bulk of the plans and just had to finalize a few small details.

:welcome: & added. Let me know when you pick a resort for sure. Don't worry if you change it after I update it. I don't mind changing as many times as you want.

I just need to get my DH to understand that we will be going for at least my bday weekend. Last night he was laying in bed, and I was trying to cheer him up. I picked up the mini Darth Vader stuffed doll we bought on our June trip. I started the Vader breather and acted like he waved his hand in front of my DH's face. Then in my best Vader like voice I said, "You will take Kim to Disney World for her birthday in 2013." Well he laughed so hard that he had to take a couple of puffs from an inhaler. We both still have a cough from being wet for 6 days at WDW. I told him that I was willing to be flexible about the whole thing. I mean I am willing to stay at either the BLT, CR, WL, GF, Poly, or even CSR.

All I can say is wow about what I found out on akv/akl there are so many resort activities to do. I think some pixie dust happened for us that BLT was not open for two nights of our stay. If I find anything else out I will pass it along.

Please do! I don't even know I should book Kidani or Jambo.

We are booked at Kidani. Did you find the AKL webpage online? There is a kidani vs jumbo breakdown you can read.

I am so sorry for your family's loss.

So sorry too letthewookiewin

Thank you all. It was a beautiful service. I got to see a lot of the DH's family that I haven't seen in years or at all. They were all so nice....except one female cousin. She's not a blood related cousin. Her mother married my DH's uncle after she had kids, and then left him and the kids. He raised them without her, and remarried a wonderful woman. She's always given me nothing but nasty looks since the first time we met. We were at a family lunch before the funeral this weekend. My DH wanted to say "hello" to his uncle that was standing talking to some other relative and then this cousin. Well she was standing less than 2 feet from me and she wouldn't say a word to either of us and just kept giving me nasty looks. As we were sitting talking to our nephew and his wife, the DH offered to get me a drink. Well it seemed like it took him forever, so I started looking for him. He was standing in the opposite direction of the drink, holding a cup, talking and laughing with the cousin. If I was near him, she wouldn't talk to him and just gave me nasty looks. If I wasn't near him, she talked to him, laughed "and was just as nice as ever". I swear we spent hours of our anniversary yesterday in the car arguing about her.

Now I just have to work harder to convince him about going for the weekend of my bday. If we take a trip we are planning to at the end of September, I'll have to cut back on the WDW trip. They are going to commission a new Navy ship in Galveston, TX and it is named after a city near us. Actually we lived in the north part of the city for years, even though we had another town's zip code. It was a strange area. If we get tickets to it, we're going to go. I've requested them, but we have to wait to see if we're going to get them.

We will be at DisneyWorld staying at AoA from the 12th-19th and traveling on the 11th and the 20th. DH will be running the full marathon and we will be celebrating our daughter's birthday :)

If you don't mind me asking, how old will your daughter be on her WDW birthday? Don't forget to get her a birthday button. Have y'all decided on which section of AoA you are going to stay in?

I sure hope that means that they will be posting EMH around that time too. My ADR window opens on July 9 and I am so up in the air without seeing EMH.
