January 2012 - no husbands allowed

Tyler’s been leaving me little notes all over the house begging to be added back to our Disney reservation. My response to him is that he knows what he needs to do in school to earn the trip back. He’s been working on some extra credit assignment for one class and I’ve notices notecards with Spanish written on them stuck to everything in his room so I think he’s going to try but we’ll see.

Although I’ve removed him from the reservation I haven’t unpacked his catch all bag I started for each of the kids – just throwing their Disney related clothing in there when it cycles though the laundry. And I’ve made up invitations to all our meals that do and do not include his name so I’m good to go either way.

Today I made up goodie bags for each of the kids. Still need more items for Danielle & Tyler (if he goes). Since they are older I didn’t want to put everything the same that I got for the littler kids.

For the dudes

And for the princesses

I have the pins on the cards I made to drop in these bags as well for them just left them in my car - opps

My goal is that Mickey can sneak in to our rooms at the offsite hotel before the kids and have these waiting for them. If not he’ll bring them while they sleep so they can have the autograph books when we go to the parks on our first day.

Day 20: A picture of the best way to beat the heat at Disney

I doubt this will be a problem next month but I'll go with visiting the Water Parks. We’ve only been to Typhoon Lagoon but we’ve been there twice.

Are you planning on trying Blizzard Beach if the weather allows? I personally think Typhoon Lagoon is the better of the two but DH & DS like Blizzard Beach better and since only BB will be open in January that's where we'll head if the weather warms up enough.

Not on this trip. The kids would totally love that but we'll have to save that for another trip because we just have base tickets with our package.

I'm already thinking October 2013 - haven't convinced hubby that THIS trip is necessary I can't imagine he'll be on board with me planning another one so I'm just keeping that to myself for now. I want to give Bonnet Creek a try and we can get a good rate though a military vacation club website, we still have 3 hopper days and 6 "more" options left on our tickets from the first trip we went on with my inlaws. I would need to purchase tickets for the younger 2 and I want to do the Halloween party so really the expenses wouldn't be too much but we'll have to wait and see. Wow, that was a lot of rambling for a short and simple answer :rotfl:

I'm on the fence about our next trip... Our fall Universal trip is looking seriously doubtful because that was supposed to be another extended family trip and two in one year is likely too much for my mom's & brother's finances, so I have been thinking about surprising DH with a short, just-us trip for our anniversary. But I'm also thinking about Vegas because he's been wanting to go and I've always dragged my feet about flying off without the kids.

I think our next big/whole family Disney trip is likely to be late fall 2013, when Fantasyland is open and the holiday decorations are up. But who knows... We're going to have 2 day tickets left over from this trip and I'm sure they'll be burning a hole in my pocket before long, and football may well make trips between mid-Aug and Thanksgiving impossible for the next 5 years. Whenever it is, I do plan to give Bonnet Creek a try - the extra space sounds so wonderful and since we'll already have tickets I'm not sure even free dining (if they continue offering it) would make staying on-site cost competitive.

I totaly understand budgeting. I bet Vegas would be a blast, I don't remember the last vacation DH and I had just ourselves, we try to take day trips every once in a while so that helps.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful 2012 so far!!!!!!!!!!!!!

18 days until we reach Florida - sooo excited.

Sorry I slacked on the photo challenge over the weekend but I just wasn't on the computer much. Back on track now though

Day 21: The best place to take a picture at Disney

On our last trip we had a delicious dinner of funnel cakes from the Sleepy Hollow in the MK – next to the eating area there’s a Kodak Picture Spot. Great view of the castle with no one else in the photo

Oh, and I sprung my secret plan of October 2013 on Chris last night and he didn't say no:cheer2:

Day 22: A picture from your favorite Disney movie

Nemo (ps. I love going back to photos from our first trip – ahhh memories)

Day 23: A picture of the character you dislike most

I can’t say that any character really bothers me or the boys but Tyra has this thing against Ursula

The temperature never got above freezing yesterday, and this morning we woke up to the first snow of the season & the year (since it's only the 5th)

whopping amount - can't you see it :rotfl:

oh that's frost! that does not count as snow:lmao:

but it surely was MIGHTY cold yesterday. 7 when I walked the dog at 6:20am

Do you go to the RV shows? there is one in Allentown usually late January -- I have to look up the dates to see if we can go. Normally we go with our camping friends, then take all our brochures and talk about potential spots over drinks and lunch or dinner.

And thanks for the first spot of Disney this morning. I am NOT having a "magical" week with Katie so really needed some joy!

Don't wear yourself out shoveling! :lmao:

That looks like about as much as we've gotten so far too. It has been COLD for a couple of days but dry.

Day 24: A picture of your favorite Disney-related possession or souvenir.

On our last trip in May, Chris and I celebrated our 11 year anniversary. He bought me this picture frame from Downtown Disney and even had it engraved so he had to go back twice without me with him for it. I love it - this photo doesn't do it justice

We've never been to an RV show. Friends of ours are in the market for a new camper this year though and have talked about visiting a couple of them so we may tag along. I'll let you know

Hard to believe that today I was wearing carpis and no jacket:cool1:

Whoot whoot!! I say if the door isn't closed, then it's open for a trip!! And if it is closed, then just go out the window!:rotfl2:

Nemo (ps. I love going back to photos from our first trip – ahhh memories)

Wow -- I never saw that Nemo before? Was that out the first year Nemo came out?

Day 18: A picture of your favorite guilty Disney pleasure

I think my answer to this would be just food in general. I mean we eat out a couple times a week at home but it seems like we totally stuff ourselves every meal when at Disney.

I gotta agree with you here. We do eat out maybe 1/x a week to 10 days ... but at Disney we'll generally eat out several times a day!!

However, this trip for a variety of reasons (budget and new policy being the top ones), we are going to try to cook more meals in our DVC unit.
