We will be there Jan 23rd to 31st.

We originally had reservations for CSR, but just got the word that the Dig site pool, playground, Bar, hot tub will be closed from the 11th to the 31st for renovations. And travelling with 2 school age kids and a toddler who needs a nap every afternoon, we need either a pool or playground (preferably both) to keep the 2 older ones busy. So we are working on changing our reservations to another resort. Can't believe they don't tell you about this stuff closing down sooner. I wouldn't have made the reservation 4 months ago! they actually said that we could go to another resort to use the pool or playground (take a 45 min bus ride!) unbelievable!

We are there the same time, at AKL. If you had DVC at the AKV, they received a letter advising the Jambo House pool would be closed so hotel guests would all be using the pool at AKV. I found out about this on these boards, the resort still hasn't bothered to tell me and we have a pool view room. I am only hoping due to all this non magical news that the trip will be magical- espcially because we are going to celebrate personal triumph ! Positive vibes!!

I booked the savanna room but it did cross my mind to stick with the standard room and see if they upgraded upon check-in due to the pool being closed. But I didn't want to take a chance. This is probably a once in a lifetime for me so I didn't want to leave it up to chance.
That being said, I DO think they should give us SOME sort of perk for the inconvenience. We're not pool people but we ARE pool bar people. LOL! This is the philosophy I'm trying to adopt for this: I need to learn to slow down when I'm at Disney. I'm always thinking about all the things I'm missing when I'm not in the parks or if I'm waiting for a bus. AND I've been there a gazillion times! LOL! So I'm thinking that this will teach me to be flexible and we'll just walk or take the bus over to AKV for the pool bar and jacuzzi.

I was going to see what happens at check in. Believe it or not I wanted pool view(it was my preference). DD would probably prefer the Savannah, so I am under the impression that we my be upgrading upon check in (and paying for it ). This is a once in a lifetime trip for us, we will be back to disney, but most likely the whole family and a different resort. I think the lodge should upgade us pool view people upon check in. I am hoping that may be our pixie dust in light of all the refurbs going on in the world

I'm with Silly Yankee and the Candians...it's been in the teens here this week with wind chills close to zero! I've even been considering Typhoon Lagoon if it's close to 80! LOL If nothing else, we'll be in the hot tub with a cocktail too! By the way, Silly, you're going to get it much worse than me for once on Sat night/Sun morning. I'm at the 8 inch cut off and you're well over 12 inches! I don't envy you!! (But of course our snowblower is in the shop!)

Ha, ha Jazzy. At least I am keeping a good attitude about the snow! The first snowfall is beautiful! I think we got the jackpot of 24-25 inches. We keep putting off purchasing a snowblower and thank goodness for great neighbors who help out! Now we really can't wait for a little warmth!

Gonna catch up on the thread and then go shovel our walkways!

Today is DD's 3rd birthday, but DH's work schedule is such that we celebrated last night. We also told her about the trip. I made a paper chain and told her we will go when all the paper is gone.

This morning she took it and hid it so that it would be time to go. I finally found it in a basket in her room. We've been talking about it in front of her, but now we can include her.

We're keeping CRT a secret in case mother nature has other thoughts about us going....

But it will be fun to finally ask her some opinions--clothes/costumes and stuff.

I am not sure if you are getting a deal seeing as the mods are 140.00 per night and the WL is listed at 240.00 per night.
But I would definitly take the upgrade if I could,the way i see it,I'm on vacation and should sleep well in a queen size bed and stay in a great resort,after all when else do we really pamper ourselves?
