January 2009. . . Calling all Snowbirds ~ Part V

Hey everyone! We had amazing weather this weekend and now it's raining. It's supposed to rain until Wednesday! Rainy weather always makes me so sleepy. I did get a little ray of sunshine in my mailbox though today. A Disney pin code! When you purchase a 4night/5 day vacation pkg, kids 3-9 stay, play and dine free. Pretty cool, but it's for stays most Sun-Th nights for May-beg of August. I'd love to go back this year, but I really enjoyed going in January. The Disney mail still put a smile on my face!

Yeah, isn't it sad how spring on the calendar means nothing in the northern part of the world? I don't think it's really spring until May most years. Even if we get some warm weather in March or April, snow is always possible! :upsidedow

Yep, exactly!

It always snows once after my birthday. And my birthday was last week. So after we get that last snow it will be spring here! :rotfl:

I got a Disney cruise code a few weeks ago, kids sail for free! Never been on a Disney cruise. Not sure why I got it. :confused3 Why can't I ever get a code I can use???

I think that's the one my MIL got at our house.
And my birthday was last week. So after we get that last snow it will be spring here! :rotfl:

Happy Belated Birthday!!

Don't feel so bad Soleil...I only get codes for my mom because I gave my eamil address when I booked our Grand Gathering for our last trip. I've gotten nothing and I'm the one that did all the leg work and that loves WDW the most!!!

Alright Snowbirdies...I'm thinking of being sneaky. Shhh don't tell the hubby. He doesn't want to talk about Disney for a while because it's so expensive and we just went but I really need the hope of a next trip. I'm toying around with early December 2010 or end of January 2011. I was thinking of booking a room only ressie and slowly making payments without dh knowing. That way when I bring it up we will already have had some paid towards it without him knowing. Is that too deceitful? :rolleyes1I think the surprise factor would be fun.
Plus I really miss having a countdown ticker!!!!
Has anyone gone early December? I would love to see the Christmas decorations. How are the crowds then? I think it's still value season too.

We had the rainy, cooler weather over the whole entire weekend! It was terrible! We did get the basement cleaned out, a bunch of trash out for bulk trash pick-up day, got baby stuff boxed up and ready for a yard sale (not my own, but I'll take it over to my SIL's). Very productive, but still a bit depressing. Today was a little warmer and sunny, but of course the kids want to play outside and the wind is C-O-L-D!

Sounds like fun...sneaky, but fun! December 2010 sounds so far away!! This will make it seem sooner!

welcome Heather!!!!

I am glad to be here!

We had the most beautiful sunny weekend here! :goodvibes But now it is raining and very cold. :sad2: Just plain yucky!

I think you all just got the rain we had on Saturday. Here in Missouri it is beautiful but very rainy! My hair looks like this!:scared1:

I don't see a plus sign next to the word quote. I must be looking in the wrong place.

p.s. this is weird....I posted this and I now have the two buttons to the right of my quote. Strange. Have not had them before.

They did not show up for me until I signed in.

Good morning Snowbirds! :cool1::cool1::banana::banana:
I had to be sure to post today so I could see my ticker...1-1-1-1! If only I could get; rid of that first "1"! ;)

welcome:, Heather! Congratulations on your upcoming 25th anniversary celebration! :wizard:

Thank you! I can't wait until my ticker says 0-0-0!

Have a great night Snowbirds!

Great idea! We are going this year 12/6 - 10 so I can let you know how it is. I have heard that crowds are lighter the first part of Dec. We will be there Pop Warner week, and that can have an impact on certain resorts, but I've heard not too bad on the parks, since they are busy a lot during the day. Here's hoping! I think it is still value season after Thanksgiving til a bit later in Dec. I say go for it as long as you can get your money back if something should mess up your plans! It would be nice to pay it a little at a time and be done before you go!

Hey everyone! I showed our pin code to my DH last night and he was actually excited about it! We might be booking another vacation this week!!! But, the most exciting part is....we'd be arriving on my BIRTHDAY!!! I can't believe it! I never really do much on my birthday besides hang out with my family (which I love) and maybe go out to eat. This would be the best birthday ever!!!! I plan on calling Disney after work today to see what the prices are for a moderate or a deluxe resort. I need my space! :rotfl:I'm so excited!!!!

The only reason I would say no would be if your husband would feel really decieved. I started doing this myself, but eventually gave in and told G because he is really serious about our money and I felt guilty doing this behind his back. I've been saving birthday money, odd job money and occasionally putting some of our money into the account. (Hey! I work for our money, too!:goodvibes) We are giving Belle birthday money and have asked out (close) relatives to do the same to put towards the trip. We've got more toys than we know what to do with.

Those are just my ideas....:goodvibes GOOD LUCK!!!

That's so exciting!!!!

I seriously wonder how much money the DIS has made Disney. I really think that if it were not for the DIS, I wouldn't be so anxious to book another trip. (Also, peer pressure makes me want to upgrade, deluxe dine, ect.:goodvibes)

I think I got the same PIN code as you Meghan!

Kids stay, play, & dine for free! Came in the mail yesterday. I am trying to figure out how we can pull it off. It is very affordable, it's just that we can't pull the kids out of school again this school year. Well, technically we could, but we wouldn't. And I'm not sure we want to be at WDW in the summer. :upsidedow I'm so confused. It is so tempting. :confused3

You're starting to sound like me...:rotfl: Confusion Confusion Confusion!

I have sat and :surfweb: researched and budgeted to decide. We've been spoiled with Jan ( I don't think I would be saying that on the freezing days we were there:rotfl:).

Peer pressure on here also adds to the dilemma, :grouphug:

I like to look at it as a savings account- only Disney is holding my money and I'm not gaining any interest.:upsidedow It would definitely be a room only ressie and I certainly wouldn't switch it over to a package or make any non-refundable deposits without letting him know first. We could always get it back if something came up and we needed it for other things. He's really the one with the budget brain. We have some business debt (thanks to this wonderful economy :headache: dh lost his small business) I don't bring up Disney yet because of it. Once it's paid off- which shouldn't take us long since he has a steady job again and I am doing well with my home day care (Thank you God for providing!) Once he's less stressed about owing money and we are in the clear again, then I'll let him know my about my secret stash. He definitely wants to go back again but he worries more about the financial stuff than I do.

We're about 80% sure we're going back in June! After our WDW trip, we're going to be driving up to Tallahassee to see my husband's family. It should be a great trip!
