oh my Christmas is in 8 days!!!! I had so much on my to do list today and got none of it done. My baby girl has a fever of 104.3...looks like we're headed to the peds office in the morning. It sprung up out of nowhere this afternoon and she's not wetting diapers as much so I'm wondering if it's a UTI.:sad2: It breaks my heart when my kids are sick.

Oh my that is a high fever. I hope everything is alright.

Hi everyone!

It's been a couple of busy busy days around here! Well everyone is finally healthy enough here so I called the Ped on Monday and asked when I could
1. come in for flu shots for DS and DD and
2. come at a time when nobody sick was there.
That time was 8:00!:scared1:

DS (almost 3) went first. He flinched and said "oh, Ow!" that was it! Then it was DD(9)'s turn. Let's just say it wasn't pretty! I actually said "YES, you are getting this flu shot! And I will wrestle you down if I have to!"

Right in the middle of the struggle as I was holding her on my lap and had arms across her chest to hold her still, and the 2 yes...2 nurse were holding her, and she was HOWLING..."NO NO NO I DON"T WANT A FLU SHOT...AAAAAAAAH" .....I .......almost......slipped! I almost spilled the beans!

I almost said the "reason you have to get this flu shot is so you can go to DISNEY! I want you healthy at DISNEY!" But no! I held it in and bit my tongue and tried to remind myself that the squirming 9 year old on my lap was going to be so happy she wasn't sick with the flu! Yeah! right! :lmao:

After it was over she sobbed...."It feels like poison dripping down my arm" Yeah!.....That would be from the struggle....your muscles were all tense and now you have a sore arm!

But at least my whole family has their flu shots and I have crossed off one more thing from my Disney list.

So My fellow SnowBirds....what have you been doing to get ready for Disney?

We got the plastic luggage tags, the arcade card and vouchers. The $200 gift card is a piece of paper???? I really like the booklet though- much better than what the TA before gave us!:goodvibes

So now it's time to plan plan plan...

How detailed planning do you all do?:confused3

That sounds like something I would have said at 9 years old! I was always giving my mom a hard time about shots and such. I've always had a flair for the dramatic you could say. That has now passed onto my daughter. My DH can't stand how dramatic she gets over the littlest things. He just looks at me and says, "I wonder who she gets THAT from." At least you'll all be healthy at Disney though!

It's bedtime for me. I've had a long day and it's off to my retail land tomorrow from 9-2. Wish me luck! Good night!

Sarah I'm so happy you're getting back to normal! :cutie:

Aw thanks. :D

So My fellow SnowBirds....what have you been doing to get ready for Disney?

Listen to my DH complain about the weather? We got about 4" of snow last night, we're looking at 3-5" tomorrow night, and 4-6" more on Friday. It's hard to run 20 miles in that much snow... and I assure you, my subdivision hasn't seen a hair of a plow. (Last major storm we had, I called after 5 days to find out when we'd be plowed out... and then we were. Probably because I was so nice to the poor phone answering woman)

BUT.... WE GOT OUR FINAL DOCUMENTS TODAY!!!!!!!!!

Addressed to my DH, of course. Danged travel agent!

But we have everything now - our Magical Express stuff, our check in documents and all the other vouchers. WOOHOO!!!

Beyond that, I haven't done much planning. This is my 7th and DH's 3rd time there, so we'll probably just end up winging it. We haven't even decided if we're going to Universal Studios yet. We've agreed we'll see what the weather is like on the day we plan to go. If it's terrible, well, we've got the park admission and Disney isn't the same sort of outdoors type of event.

On Saturday, we'll get his marathon stuff and then meet up with my family "somewhere" - they haven't done much planning, either. ;) On Sunday, he runs a marathon and then the rest of us go to Epcot. He may or may not come along with us, but he wants to Drink Around the World (I asked if that was wise, post-marathon, and he said it wasn't... I think we've agreed that since there will be 5 of us and 11 countries, we'd split it up).

Monday, my parents leave early and my brother leaves later, so we'll have breakfast with him somewhere. Then, from there, whatever, it's just the two of us. Hmm. Maybe I should plan out some more over break?

Maybe!! :D

Good evening all!

I had just a crazyday at work today. I wasn't at my desk for 5 minutes between 9 and 3! That is rare! I was working with three different judges - also rare. :headache: My head was spinning by 4:00. Then I had to pick up the girls, DH is working tonight, have some dinner (since I didn't get much lunch) and go run errands. Thankfully my neighbor watched the girls so I didn't have to drag them from store to store. (6 in all) I did get a couple more x-mas gifts done. Whew!!! I just had to come sit and check in with my posse of snowbirds. Maybe I should say flock?

To al who are ill or have sick kids, I'm so sorry. It's such a hard thing, especially this time of year.
My DD7 and I got our flu shots, but DD5 is holding out for the nasal spray, so I have to try to get her in. Thanks for reminding me!! Hopefully tomorrow I can stay at my desk so I can make calls. I need to make a list!!

I STILL haven't done our cards yet! We're planning to take a family picture tomorrow night after the girls' dance. They're doing a little Christmas performance, and my parents are coming, so I'll get one of them to take the picture. Then I have to rush off and get the cards made. I think Target's open til 10.

I'm struggling to get ready for Christmas, let alone WDW! I have been reading my Passporters, and thinking about how I'm going to pack. I pick up little things, like single packs of laundry detergent and dollar store stuff. My friend printed me up some pages from TourGuide Mike for my dates, so I'm going to read that and see what he says about my choices of parks.

Hope you all are having a great night - Just think - January is only 14 days away!! Some of us will be at WDW!!! :yay: (not me of course, I have to wait til the END of January!)

Just checking in...I was able to rebook our hotel room at the airport with our rewards points. You can only redeem the points 30 days in advance. Saved us $70...more souviner money.

Hopefully everyone gets well before Disney...my asthma has been flaring up...the cold weather really impacts it...shouldn't be a problem at Disney.

Carrie...hopefully you and your family had a wonderful trip home...hope you check in soon.

Good night everyone.

And I still haven't mailed my packages yet :rotfl: - oh well, after-Christmas gifts are just as nice as before-Christmas gifts!

The same is true about Christmas cards -- all folks really want is to see pictures of the family - if they get them a little later, that means they'll be that much more special.

Aw thanks. :D

Yay for final documents!

Silly question here - but, since I am not getting a package, I'm not getting any final documents, am I? I'll be buying my tickets separately, too, since some of our group will be leaving at different times.

And, I'm still not sure what to do about taking stuff into the parks. I want to stuff everything into my camera bag [it goes on my shoulder] but what about a jacket? I don't want to go back to my room to get one. What do y'all do about that? Especially those of you who hail from the balmy south like I do?

Oh, and Shelly, I saw pictures of you on your last trip - your hair did not even look close to fuzzy. [It looked perfect actually - grrrrr] Now, you talk about some fuzzy hair - I'm the one with the fuzzy hair....

Happy Thurdsay, Snowbirds.

Staying in with a sick little boy today. He must have the stomach bug, poor little guy. I hate when he's sick. Hopefully he'll be better by Christmas.

Hope you all have a great day!

Me too...Our DS came home yesterday and complained his ears hurt. So, off to PromptMed we went....YUP! Double ear infection! Poor guy. We were waiting for the script to be filled and he's just holding his ears complaining of them hurting. I felt so bad.

Forgot to ask if anyone has heard from Carrie yet...I know checking in with the Snowbirds must be at the top of her list of things to do right now! :lmao:

Perhaps this guy can conjure her out of hiding...:dancer:

:rotfl:

Okay, I know it's really not funny, but that line just made me smile!

Good morning Snow Birds! Well, it looks like we just might be in for a doozy of a weather day - we're already under a winter storm advisory that begins this afternoon - right before rush hour - for freezing rain overnight. Should be fun - NOT!!! :headache:

I'm off to the dentist for my cleaning....YUCK!!!

My DD9 is home for the second day. She still has a fever. She missed her Christmas service dress rehearsal yesterday. The service is tonight...I don't know if she'll make it. Poor little thing. But I will not chance her getting other kids sick, especially before Christmas!

I feel bad for DD6 too. She was really bummed that I wasn't at the dress rehearsal yesterday. I'm supposed to drive her class to sing at a retirement home this afternoon, but since DD9 is still sick, my MIL will have to do it instead. I can't imagine how DD6 will feel if I miss the service tonight. :sad1:

I'm now in the US!!!!!! Oi, the jet lag's been rough with the kids, and we came sick with a bad cold and mild stomach upset...but we're here and getting caught up on sleep and life!

It's great to be home!!!!!

Thought I'd pop on and let you know I'm now in the same time zone as most of you!:rotfl:

Good morning Snowbirds!

So sorry for everyone who has sick kids right now. Hope they will all be feeling better by Christmas and then stay healthy for Disney!
