I'm now in the US!!!!!! Oi, the jet lag's been rough with the kids, and we came sick with a bad cold and mild stomach upset...but we're here and getting caught up on sleep and life!

It's great to be home!!!!!

Thought I'd pop on and let you know I'm now in the same time zone as most of you!:rotfl:

Welcome home! :goodvibes Glad you made it here safely.

Are you in PA?

DS (almost 3) went first. He flinched and said "oh, Ow!" that was it! Then it was DD(9)'s turn. Let's just say it wasn't pretty! I actually said "YES, you are getting this flu shot! And I will wrestle you down if I have to!"

Right in the middle of the struggle as I was holding her on my lap and had arms across her chest to hold her still, and the 2 yes...2 nurse were holding her, and she was HOWLING..."NO NO NO I DON"T WANT A FLU SHOT...AAAAAAAAH" .....I .......almost......slipped! I almost spilled the beans!

Oh my that sounds exactly like my 9 year old. So dramatic (and he's a boy!) and he freaks at even the thought of a shot. DS7 says - bring it on! :rotfl:

Oh, and Shelly, I saw pictures of you on your last trip - your hair did not even look close to fuzzy. [It looked perfect actually - grrrrr] Now, you talk about some fuzzy hair - I'm the one with the fuzzy hair....

I don't remember what pictures I have posted but I probably only showed the good ones inside a building with air conditioning before I had stepped out into the humidity! :scared1: :rotfl:

7 Sleeps until Christmas!

:santa: :santa: :santa:

:santa:

Woohoo!!! My box of presents for my bro and his wife should arrive today. Box of presents for my extended family should arrive at my parents house today. My BIL's box arrived on Wednesday. My DH was so slow the gifts to his parents may not arrive until after Christmas, but I wash my hands of it!!

We have a snowstorm bearing down on us, that could bring up to 11" of snow by the end of the work day tomorrow.

We have another storm predicted for Saturday night. And another for Tuesday night/Wednesday.

So so so SO glad I am NOT traveling this year!!

(That reminds me: must book airport shuttle!)

Anyway, I got an expected box from a friend yesterday (long story as to why she mails me baking chips) but it contained an unexpected gift of some yarn. It's called Hand Maiden Sea Silk lace weight yarn and the stuff is positively amazing. I love to look at it and pet it but it's one of those, hmm, luxury yarns that you'll rarely pay for yourself? I'm SO thrilled!!!

Happy Thursday! I hope those of you in the path of the storm heading my way stay safe!

Wow, "Tis the season...I'm at home today with a sick 2 yr old! Andy picked him up yesterday with 103 temp. Tested positive for Influenza. He was warm this morning but not feeling too bad. He's running around me watching MM Clubhouse right now for the 3rd time and throwing a bouncy ball around the room! I'm kind of relieved to have a sick day. Hopefully he'll nap later and I can start wrapping!! I CAN'T BELIEVE I HAVEN'T WRAPPED ANYTHING YET!! I still have presents to buy, too! I'm going to make my list of things I need to do/get and hopefully will get some things accomplished today! If I'm really ambitious, I may bake. I'm going to try to make truffles as cute little gifts for family. I'm looking to find my inner-Martha Stewart! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Have a great day Snowbirds, I'll check back later!

Yay for final documents!

Silly question here - but, since I am not getting a package, I'm not getting any final documents, am I? I'll be buying my tickets separately, too, since some of our group will be leaving at different times.

And, I'm still not sure what to do about taking stuff into the parks. I want to stuff everything into my camera bag [it goes on my shoulder] but what about a jacket? I don't want to go back to my room to get one. What do y'all do about that? Especially those of you who hail from the balmy south like I do?

I'm planning on renting a locker at the parks if it's cool in the mornings & warmer later on, primarily for jackets & other layers. But we'll see how it goes!

Welcome home! Now we can say good night to you at the same time as everyone else!

We also have a major storm predicted for tomorrow, and there are still lots of people without power from last week's ice storm! I'm thankful though that we're not among them. But it still could dump a foot of snow in our area.

Everyone stay safe and DRIVE SLOWLY!

I do have a question for all the experienced folks among you:
Is there anywhere to meet the Disney villians (Malificent, Ursula, etc.) :stir: at the parks? Or at any character meals (other than the stepsisters) ? Thanks!

well hopefully everyone who has sick kids now means it shall pass before you leave for your trips with built up immune systems LOL I hope they heal up fast!

thank you everyone for all the warm welcomes!

overthemoon4mickey I sooooooo feel your pain. Its been SO SO hard. My 6 yo (the one we're going fo rher bday) broke her leg 3 months ago. It was sooooooooo hard not to tell her with everything she had to go through. Then my 9 yo had been really sick a few weeks ago, in the ER had to get an IV and then 2 antibiotic shots in her tush, while being held down etc. Not pleasent. Again so hard not to spill the beans. Not to mention I've always been a SAHM and i've been working since last May when we decided to take the kids to help us get caught up on stuff, pay for Christmas and help put towards the trip. Through all the complaining of the kids, all the mommy guilt I just wanted to blurt out I"M DOING IT FOR YOU!

I went to the Dr yesterday for my quarterly bld work and check up, Dr is checking me over, ya know...checking glands, throat, nose....and says you have a sinus infection.....HUH ??? :confused3 Followed by ..I'm writting you a prescription for nose spray......HUH???? :confused3 After giving my daughter the evil eye for laughing so hard at me she misses the chair in the exam room and hits the floor:rotfl2: ...I say....."shouldn't I have symptoms? I don't/haven't felt bad." She asks a few more questions about symptoms to which I respond negatively , she then dead pan's "you're strange, OH and have a good trip to DISNEY!!!!"
I really do like my doctor......and for those of you with DENTIST phobias.....My dentist rocks, and he's handsome. But I still don't like going because it takes FOREVER !!!!!!!!!

I hope everyone gets to feeling better....including me because according to the Dr I am sick.

Any how 7 mores days til XMAS:cool1:

Tracy

My DD9 is home for the second day. She still has a fever. She missed her Christmas service dress rehearsal yesterday. The service is tonight...I don't know if she'll make it. Poor little thing. But I will not chance her getting other kids sick, especially before Christmas!

I feel bad for DD6 too. She was really bummed that I wasn't at the dress rehearsal yesterday. I'm supposed to drive her class to sing at a retirement home this afternoon, but since DD9 is still sick, my MIL will have to do it instead. I can't imagine how DD6 will feel if I miss the service tonight. :sad1:

Oh Trixie...I hope things work out for you today!!! Prayers are being said for DD9 I hope she feels better soon!!! Try to have a good day!!!

YAY for Carrie!! Glad all of you made it safely!!! I wish you the best Christmas with your family and a really great trip!!

Get caught up on that sleep!!!

Okay...I think it was here that we once upon a time talked about Amish bread...well my hubby just sent me an email and one of his students got him a Christmas pot and two loaves of Cinnamon Amish Bread...I'm drooling as I type this....I think he gets more gifts cuz he's the handsome teacher at their school...he gets hit on by 4th graders LOL...I'm just amused!!!!!

G and I went to the Singles Christmas party for our church last night. He was asked to play Christmas tunes and a worship song or two. We had an absolute blast! I'm really in the Christmas spirit now!

Carrie- Praise God, you made it home! I know it must feel so great! I'm so glad you get to be with your family and you will be in Orlando before you know it!

To everyone that is sick- Get Well Soon!

To everyone getting bad weather- Stay safe! It is pretty yucky here in the south. Heavy fog and mist. It's in the 50's, but it is still pretty blah out.

Ooohh! I hope to be making some for Christmas. We had a loaf at Thanksgiving and it was so great!

Sounds like you had a great time!!!!!!!!! I so enjoy our Church's Christmas parties. The teen one was so much fun...it was great to watch our young people just goofing off having some good fun with each other...always makes the work worth it!

Hi snow birds. I took off today instead of Friday. I just have so much to do, and starting to fell overwhelmed by everything. So far today I wrapped gifts, cleaned bathroom, and figure out our luggage situation, plus packed what I could. I won’t be able to pack until the night before. I know I am going to forget something.

Yesterday my 2009 WDW planning DVD came in the mail. I told the boys when they got home. To that DS9 said - So what, it's not like we are going in 2009. And then he pouted! :rotfl:

:thumbsup2 Me too, have yet to watch it.

Homemade Disney ornaments!

So cute!!!
Aw thanks. :D

Listen to my DH complain about the weather? We got about 4" of snow last night, we're looking at 3-5" tomorrow night, and 4-6" more on Friday. It's hard to run 20 miles in that much snow... and I assure you, my subdivision hasn't seen a hair of a plow. (Last major storm we had, I called after 5 days to find out when we'd be plowed out... and then we were. Probably because I was so nice to the poor phone answering woman)

BUT.... WE GOT OUR FINAL DOCUMENTS TODAY!!!!!!!!!

Addressed to my DH, of course. Danged travel agent!

But we have everything now - our Magical Express stuff, our check in documents and all the other vouchers. WOOHOO!!!

Beyond that, I haven't done much planning. This is my 7th and DH's 3rd time there, so we'll probably just end up winging it. We haven't even decided if we're going to Universal Studios yet. We've agreed we'll see what the weather is like on the day we plan to go. If it's terrible, well, we've got the park admission and Disney isn't the same sort of outdoors type of event.

On Saturday, we'll get his marathon stuff and then meet up with my family "somewhere" - they haven't done much planning, either. ;) On Sunday, he runs a marathon and then the rest of us go to Epcot. He may or may not come along with us, but he wants to Drink Around the World (I asked if that was wise, post-marathon, and he said it wasn't... I think we've agreed that since there will be 5 of us and 11 countries, we'd split it up).

Monday, my parents leave early and my brother leaves later, so we'll have breakfast with him somewhere. Then, from there, whatever, it's just the two of us. Hmm. Maybe I should plan out some more over break?

Maybe!! :D

That's so funny! :rotfl: We only have one male teacher at our elementary school - 5th grade. He takes his kids to our daycare too. All the girls think he's cute. He's a pretty nice guy too.
