January 2008 Code Watch

I booked through AAA and switched from the AAA discount to the Disney Visa code. We saved an additional $90 and upgraded from a standard room at AKL to a pool view. I did have to put down a $200 deposit on my Disney Visa credit card.

Good luck to everyone else!

We're staying 1/14-1/21 so it seems the last 3 days will be blocked out. Would it be worth it to do a split reservation? So I can get the deal the first 4 days and pay rack rate the last 3? I just hate that I won't be able to take advantage of any discount

it would if you include your park tix with the first reservation and get 7 or 8 day tickets as they would be upgraded to a park hopper pass for no additional cost and you would be able to use them with your 2nd reservation. It would probably not be worth it if you want a dining package as you would need to buy at least a one day ticket with both reservations.

I guess these new codes aren't going to help me because I have a room only reservation, and have already bought and received my tickets from UT. Good luck to all of you.

What percentage is that, did they say? Also- do you still have dining?

Im sorry it does still include dining. It is $15.50 off an $82.00 value room(that works out to be about 19% a nt not including tax and extra person charge or 15% including the tax and additional adult in room which is $105.00) Im not sure which they base the reduction on...

Someone help me- I got the email from my Disney Visa! Went to my AAA agent and she said I would have to upgrade to a moderate resort. Why is that and I would be paying $300 more.
Right now I have Jan19-25 All * Movies Pref room 2 adults 2 children 6 day base ticets with base dining. With AAA discount.
I just want the FREE hoppers and a free trip to Disney Quest in case of rain.!! Yes I might be complaining.

If I were you, I would call Disney directly and ask them the same questions. Then, you can let your TA know what you found out. Let your TA know you are informed (ie read discussion boards, call disney direct, etc). It's my understanding that you dont need to have a moderate ressie, but I'm not sure about that.

I booked mine and had to pay a deposit of $200 on my Disney Visa, even though we had already paid the initial $200 deposit. The CM told me that if you don't give the $200 deposit on your Disney VIsa and reservation with revent to a non-discounted package within two weeks.

We originally had a reservation for the Polynesian but they had no rooms available with the code for our time frame. We switched to the GF and got the discount -saved money and upgraded!

This may be a stupide question but if the Jan. codes are released on 11/1/07, how do you apply it? I have already booked a MYW package on the Disney website for 1/22/08-1/29/08 with Standard room WL with MYW with DDP. Do I just call and ask that it be applied to my reservation?

Yes, the sooner the better. THere are a limited number of "code" rooms available, you may wind up having to switch to another resort to get a discount.

If I join AAA, then I go through them to get a package? Other than the yearly fee, does it cost me to use their services? Can somone give me the low down on how AAA works?

Thanks!

I'm a Canadian resident and used the Canadian code last week. We are staying in a 1 bedroom at the Boardwalk Villas, with 3 adults and our 4 year old daughter. We had orginally paid for the MYW+, as well as park hopper. Our travel dates are Jan 22 to Jan 30. The total cost before the code was $6013.68.

The first CM I called about applying the code said that we would have to change resorts or upgrade to a 2 bedroom villa for an extra $400. He did not really seem like he knew what he was talking about. I told him I would have to check with the rest of my party, and as soon as we disconnected I phoned right back and got a different CM. She put me on hold for about 20 minutes (she kept coming back to see if I was okay though :) and eventually got us a discount, we can stay in our one bedroom villa at BWV and we now have waterpark, DisneyQuest, etc. Our new total cost with the discount applied is $4948.87 ($1064 savings:thumbsup2 ).

When the VISA code came out, I also called to check to see if I could use that code. She said the Canadian codes would give me substantially more savings, so I kept the Canadian code and did not use the VISA one.

I'm crossing my fingers for all of the non-Canadians out there and hoping the 11/1 code works out just as good for you. The lesson from my encounter is: call early as the rooms do sell out under certain codes and call back a couple of times to ensure that you get the correct information.

Good luck!

You can visit www.aaa.com and get all of the info you need for that. I have AAA and I really like it, it gives you some security on the road. I recently used AAA to replace a dead battery on the side of the road. It's paid for itself in many ways. The discounts on other hotels for example...

I don't think you will have to make a split reservation. I am staying at Pop Century from Jan 11 - Jan 20th, which is part of the black-out period. I was able to use a discount code and get the ticket upgrade for the whole reservation, and from what I can tell I got about 20% off the room rate for the first 7 nights that weren't part of the black out dates.

The first time I called they said that there was no discount available for the value resort, but I could upgrade to a moderate and use the discount. Then I called back the next day and I had to upgrade to a preferred room at the Pop Century and could use the discount code. Then I called back again and they were able to switch me back to a standard room at the Pop Century which ended up saving me over $300.00!
