January 2008 Code Watch

Are these current discounts more than just "water parks and more" for free?

I can't see how people are saving so much money. I see figures that are beyond what the park hopping and water parks tickets would cost. I just checked and one (adult or child) person to upgrade from a 7 day base ticket (219.00)to a 7 day hopper with water parks & more ($314.00) is $95. So that means a $95 savings per person, assuming you have 7 day tickets.

How can folks be saving $1,000 with this discount?

I had planned to stick with my AAA discount but if this is more than just the water parks and more value, I'd like to know. I may use it Thursday when is becomes avalible to the general public.

Thank you!

I think that there may also be a percentage savings on room as well. I also have a AAA discount right now at YC, it's saving me ~$200 right now, about $50 a night. Dreams Unlimited will be checking for me to see if I'll save more when (and if) the general code becomes available for my stay.

I called yesterday and applied the code to our reservation at Pop. Had to cancel the AAA discount that we had on our room only ressie. But had already been given a quote for room and parkhopper tix - I was planning on switching to a package once a code came out. We only saved $45.00. Granted we have the water park tixs and did not have them included in the original quote. Anyway $45.00 is better than nothing I guess, just sort of disappointed after I hear about others savings. Did I do something wron??

It seems that there is a small room discount involved, but even just the ticket upgrade is no small amount when you've got more people in the room. For the 4 of us, including tax, the free upgrade is worth about $405. That's more than we'd have saved with AAA, even staying 11 nights at a deluxe (AAA savings would be $371).

I understand your point. One thing though, part of that $405 worth is water parks that depending on when you are booked, you may not be able to use. In my case, Jan 1-7, I can't use that benifit.

Please understand, I'm not arguing. Really, I totaly appreciate the help! How much of the $405 value would be credited to water parks? For my family, the park hopping is the only benifit we could use for our trip. The value of park hopping is $45 per person. for my family of three, that is $135.00.

It's hard to figure sometimes. especialy now that I am hearing that the Canadian discount may be more than just "water parks and more". When I paid my trip off a month ago, I thought I was don't with having to thing about all this. :headache:   :rotfl:

Question (Sorry) My parents, boyfriend, and I have reservations for POP Jan 7-12. My parents booked the room and aparently did NOT go ahead and make it a MYW package. My BF has AAA so we called and used that discount which saved us Approx. $100 FOR 4night/5days.
Should I go ahead and call and change our reservations to a MYW package (add 4 adult 5day base tickets).
Will AAA save us money on tickets too?
Should I just wait for the Public Code to come out and apply it (if I can)? (We've never done DDP b/c we can budget ourselves to $30 each per day. And Park Hoppers have always been an added expence.)
Thanks

but it IS more then just the hoppers and the water parks and more (Disney Quest and some other stuff). We got the cod for POFQ and the room was discounted from $149 to $129 a night with the code.

If there is a room discount added in that would be great! I knew that "more" meant Disney Quest and Pleasure Island and should have added that in my last post. For us with an 8 year old, Pleasure Island isn't an issue just as the water parks due to the cold weather. Disney Quest sounds great but our five day trip with dinning ADRs every night leaves little time for the Quest.

Still if we're talking room discount too, I will most definitly look into it. Hopping, would be a value and is the room discount would offset that, I'd be happy as Jimminy Cricket! :thumbsup2 I promise, I'm the glass half full guy!

Thank you for helping Amyshubby!

After I booked my package I thought how much did I save on Tickets and rooms ect.. The CM I talked to said she could not break down the different prices for all the parts of the package... Sounds strange to me I cannot imagine that they take a % off total packages..

FWIW - my package deal definitely has a room discount as well. We had the AAA room-only rate. If we had our AAA agent convert it to a AAA pkg w/ dining and hoppers, it was going to be $3504. Our discounted pkg w/ the Disney VISA was $3332 w/ the same room, dining, hoppers, and waterparks and more. It wasn't quite as much as taking off our parkhopper options (saved $165 instead of $188), so I would guess the room discount is just shy of 15%.

Yeah, sometimes I forget that the ability to use the waterparks in January is based on perception of "warm enough". For us, coming from Michigan and used to swimming in the always-cold Great Lakes, waterparks in Florida are *totally* doable even in January. :rotfl: And since our Jan trip is my DS9's birthday trip, we'll probably be spending more than our fair share of time at DisneyQuest too. We were planning on paying for the add-on, because it only takes 2 visits to some combination of the waterparks or DisneyQuest for the upgrade to be worth it, and I'm sure we'll do at least that.

About half the savings I figured is the water parks add-on - $50/per person plus tax x 4 people.

I wanted to pass a long that I used the Disney Visa code on my trip from 1/26 to 2/3 at pop (standard room) for 2 adults & 1 child and received a savings of more than just the ticket upgrade. The original price was $1721.39 after the discount it was $1295.74. By my calculations the ticket upgrade a lone should have made the discount price be around $1417.82. Also I they wanted the deposit my Disney Visa card.

Now that you guys (and thank you very much!)have talked me into trying to get the potential general discount for Nov 1st, can ya'll talk to me about the process?

I am booked and fully paid with AAA. I have a good TA. shouldn't she be able to apply the new code and drop the AAA without having to cancel and rebook with Disney?

I LOVE THIS PLACE!

The first time I called they said that there was no discount available for the value resort, but I could upgrade to a moderate and use the discount. Then I called back the next day and I had to upgrade to a preferred room at the Pop Century and could use the discount code. Then I called back again and they were able to switch me back to a standard room at the Pop Century which ended up saving me over $300.00!

This sounds great! I hope it works for me too. Hopefully there'll be rooms available for the general public.

I posted this on page 64, but thought it might help. I had the PIN code, but it seems to be the same as the Disney Visa code and probably anticipated general code too...

"...I booked using a pin, and 4 nights, 5 days at WL std room with PH's for our family of 4 (dd11, ds12) would have been $2124.68, and with base tickets, it would have been $1933 per WDW website. I paid $1766.62, so it seems to me that I must have gotten a slight room reduction, too; seems to be about 18%, if I'm doing my math right..."

Ok so I am still confused. I just saw a post where someone is staying at Pop the same week as us but they are staying one more night than us. It is 2 adults, 1 child as opposed to our 2 adults (DD2 is free). They are only paying about $175.00 more than us. We used the same Disney Visa code. Does this seem right? I am getting really nervous about everything and starting to second guess myself. Also thinking that we could have pulled off a moderate instead of a value after looking at some other peoples prices. I guess I just need to stop obsessing and just relax and remember - WE ARE GOING TO DISNEY!!!!

Our price with Visa Code - 7 nights preferred room - Pop Century
2 adults ( DD2)
6 day parkhopper w/water park
Price $1,105.00

THANKS!

9 nights at AKL w/dining and hoppers went from 39xx to 34xx, plus I got the Disneyquest stuff. That's more than just the cost of the ticket upgrades.

NB

Don't they have a standard room. The extra for a preferrred room is $12/day or $13.50 with tax so that is about $95 for 7 nights. Their extra child's ticket would be under $200.

I think you'll be very happy at Pop. I actually like the values better than the moderates. The moderates are too spread out. Your DD will LOVE Pop!

That might have been us (dates are 1/10-1/18). The base for a child ticket is 182. Our price with 8 nights and 7 day Park Hopper should be around $275 more than your package. IIRC, we are booked at $1,300ish. I think your package rate is just right!

Don't fret about the moderate. I've stayed at POFQ and Pop and like them both. There are a few things I like about POFQ more, but it's not a huge difference. I thought about trading up, but POFQ wasn't available. My personal opinion is to either just save the money or upgrade to the dining plan.

So, can we tell if the room part of this discount is greater for say Mods than Value? Since I have already paid, I'd be happy to upgrade to a mod if that would offset the price in the upgrade instead of getting a refund for the discount amount.
