January 2008 Code Watch

I don’t mind sharing in the least (I always excelled at kindergarten, all three years!). I made this res in Sept 06 by calling. The CM I spoke with stated the rates were not out at that time, but historically they had been increasing by approximately $10 per year. The rate when I booked was $215/night (Std Room), so he quoted $225/night for the 08 rate, subject to change. However, the rate that is now listed on my confirmation is $205/night (Jan 3 – 8). Also, at the time of booking I was not able to apply my AAA discount. Depending upon any codes, I may still need to apply this.
Can you use the AAA discount when calling WD to book the room or do you have to book the trip through AAA? When I booked my trip in 04, the CM said I couldn't use/get the AAA rate. Thanks.

If you are booking a "room-only" reservation, Disney can apply the discount directly. If you are booking any kind of package then AAA has to book the trip.

The AAA rates for 2008 should come out sometime in August (last year they came out August 6th), once they are out I will call and try and get the AAA rate discount added to my room-only reservation (we never book a package). Then I will at least have that much, and will just monitor any other deals that may come out which might give me something better then the AAA.

Today I was able to make all my ADRs and I got everything I wanted- even Cindy's table! :cool1:
I called reservations and asked about a PIN and I had one on my name. But the price she said I got is the normal price for POR- $145(w/o taxes). I don't get it... :confused3

My thoughts as well!

I'm subscribing too! We are planning a January trip and I'm an obsessive-compulsive, anal-retentive, over-achieving planner, planner, planner! We always vacation in January and this is the first time in many years that I've not had our vacation booked by the end of June. Disney is killing me! I'm developing an ulcer just thinking about having to wait until August to book my package :-)

Thanks, I forgot I booked the room and ordered the tickets at the same time.

Also, aren't the AAA rates usually just a percentage off the room rate? I'm planning a trip for Jan 08, can't I just book a "room only" reservation now and get the discount or Disney can't apply the 2007 AAA discount to a 2008 reservation?

Congrats!!! So what are your tips for getting Cindy's table? I'm anxiously waiting for (a) the 2008 rates to come out and (b) our date for ADRs (7/31).... I can hardly wait!!!!

I finally gave up on the new rates and made our reservation for Jan 26- Feb 2 at POFQ. The rate I got was the exact same as Jan 2007. The cm was very nice and seemed knowledgable about WDW- said they expected 2008 rates around mid to late August. Anyway, guess the trip is more 'official' now!:cool1: :woohoo:

Doesn't it feel good to have the ressies done? :yay: We're going at the same time (1/27-2/2) and we made ours last week at the VWL. I was doing the happy dance for days! Even tho I know the rates will increase, :sad2: it just makes the trip more "real"! :woohoo:

Yes, AAA is just a flat % discount off the room rate. In Value season it's been 15% off Deluxes, 10% off Moderates and Values. During the other seasons it's 10% off Deluxes, 15% off Moderates and Values. Holiday season AAA rates are not usually available.

AAA actually needs to "release" 2008 discounts before Disney can apply them to 2008 reservations...it may be a combination of AAA and Disney together that releases them :confused3 .

Basically, they need to determine if they're going to stick with the same % off by season as well as how many rooms at each resort will be offered at the AAA rate. There are a limited number of rooms available for AAA, so it is possible that while the hotel itself has rooms available, there might be none left at the AAA rate (another good reason to watch for when the rates come out :thumbsup2 ).

Yes, it feels good to have the room reserved! Makes the trip feel a lot more real and concrete!!! Now for the countdown to begin!!!! Let's all hope for good rates, DISCOUNTS, and great weather for our trips!!!:goodvibes

Thanks, that's the rate I was quoted - $215 - but I can't pull my ressie up on the computer.

Thanks for your help. :) I guess I should look into booking my trip soon.

DF and I are getting married in June '08, and I graduate from grad school Jan.'08. Originally, the plan was to go to WDW in Jan, then honeymoon in June....now I think I'm gonna have to choose one over the other?!

What is a Disney girl to do???!!!!:confused3

(And yes, I have considered the Disneymoon in June, but I prefer not to battle the summer crowds and the peak prices)

Wwe went two years ago around that time for my sons b'da. It was FABULOUS and the crowds were great. Make sure to get a b'day button.

We just joined AAA and I'd like someone to confirm that my knowledge is correct please.

AAA discounts (when rates come out) for package deals can be booked only through AAA.

Room only AAA discounts can be booked through DIS.

If we are buying a package with dinning, I should book directly though AAA as soon as rates come out.

If I get a code, card, pin offer that is better, I then call DIS and apply that instead of my AAA.

I hope there aren't too many errors in my thinking. Thanks to anyone who can clear that up for me. :confused3

You've almost got it.;)

If a better offer comes out you need to call your AAA TA to have it applied. Once you book with a TA they own the reservation not you so Disney won't talk to you about it; all changes must be made by your TA.
