January 2008 Code Watch

I am going in Feb (1-10) and always thought the cheerleading comps were in mid to late Feb. I guess they start earlier than that from what you have said. I was there for the marathon way back in 2003, and besides being in the half, we went to DMGM and it was perfect. Crowd levels were low I thought. It almost felt as if we had the park to ourselves. I know a lot of the marathoners who run for a cause(TNT, AHA, ADA, etc...) are only there Friday-Monday am and usually will tour the parks Fri and Sat b/c Sunday they are wooped and Monday they leave. At least that is how it worked for most of the organization participants that we conversed with. I guess some the individual marathoners may bring thier families and have a vacation at that time. I think any time you go in January cannot be that bad. Not sure about MLK, but I am sure that is mostly locals since it is only one day off.

Gosh, I hope I don't hit huge crowds for my group. we are arriving on Sat Jan 26th...maybe just sunday will be a busy day from MLK...well, maybe monday too?

opps..never mind, just looked up the holiday on a calander...MLK day lands on Jan 21st.

Martin Luther King Day. A school holiday that people plan vacations around and locals will be there.

Thanks for that,
I'm trying to learn the disboard language but that one had me stumped:confused:
Being from Oz didn't help as it is obviously an American celebration
I can always rely on someone here to help me out:flower3:

Joining. My significant other and I have lived together for more than 10 years and we finally decided to say I do. Honeymoon in Disney!!! YEAH Come on AP codes.

Just booked my January 2008 trip last week. Happy to be staying at the new AKV from January 27-Feb 2, 2008. Glad the DVC lets us book when we want up to 11 months in advance. I may add a day or two earlier if the AP rates are worth it this year, but since that would be a Friday/Saturday stay, we'll just have to wait and see how these new rates pan out.

Weird thing happened today...I couldn't bring up our January reservation for the Poly either directly on disneyworld.com OR by going through the link on my original confirmation email (from back in January). So, I called them up and asked to have a new email confirmation sent to me, and verified that all our info was as it should be.

I get the new confirmation by email...everything is exactly as it should be except the price...it's LOWER  It's listed $25 less per night then what I know the published rack rates for 2007 are and I haven't applied any discounts (I can't of course 'cause there aren't any yet!) :confused3

I am NOT complaining...but I wonder what's going on? Could some 2008 rates actually go a bit lower than 2007? Would this even things out if they make some of the weekend rates a bit higher maybe? Inquiring minds want to know! :upsidedow

They have changed the format of the confirmation so that now instead of just a single "rate per room/per night $XXX.XX" price, it now says "Night 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 $XXX.XX". So, they have updated the system to accomodate what the rumor is about having different pricing by night. Currently all of my 8 nights are the same price...I am VERY curious what pricing changes will happen as the 2008 rates come out.

Same thing here. My WL rate for Jan 08 is lower than the 07 rate, and they divided the pricing by listed nightly amounts instead of in a lump summary format. I understood that they were going to a new pricing structure, comparable to the hotel industry at large, but if the lower rate stands true…Great!

Gosh I hope the new rates are coming out soon. For those of you who purchase AP, what to you is the break even rate (ie how many days)? We're going to go from 1/27-2/2 (so five full days in the park and possible half on the 27thm depending on when we get into the Resort). Just debating if it would be worth it (from a cost standpoint and a perk standpoint). :)

I called AGAIN today and the cast member said they weren't expecting them until AUGUST but she said other people who were there in January last year said the rates came out in August. OIY VEY!! (She's probably sick of all of us "boardies" calling her to compare notes ;)

Our reservation at the CR for January 2008 is still the same rate, but if the Poly LVC is going down in price, maybe we will switch.

I called today and they told me that 2008 rates will not be out until October. We all know that can't be true. I have been calling about every 3 days and I have never been told October. I was told today that the park hours are out for JAN. and FEB will be out at the 180 day mark. I hope the rates come out before OCT. We are leaving JAN 29th 2008 for 5 nights. We did make our RESER. for Allstar Movies. We have 2 rooms. We are hoping for a code or a pin #. :cutie:

We are also staying at the WL. Do you mind sharing what price you were quoted?

Sunscribing!

Jan 1-7 @ POP and just got my ADRs for CG for our first night. Can't wait to share Wishes with my DD from that view!

I don’t mind sharing in the least (I always excelled at kindergarten, all three years!). I made this res in Sept 06 by calling. The CM I spoke with stated the rates were not out at that time, but historically they had been increasing by approximately $10 per year. The rate when I booked was $215/night (Std Room), so he quoted $225/night for the 08 rate, subject to change. However, the rate that is now listed on my confirmation is $205/night (Jan 3 – 8). Also, at the time of booking I was not able to apply my AAA discount. Depending upon any codes, I may still need to apply this.
