January 2008 Code Watch

DF and I are getting married in June '08, and I graduate from grad school Jan.'08. Originally, the plan was to go to WDW in Jan, then honeymoon in June....now I think I'm gonna have to choose one over the other?!

What is a Disney girl to do???!!!!:confused3

(And yes, I have considered the Disneymoon in June, but I prefer not to battle the summer crowds and the peak prices)

I guess it depends on where you were planning for the honeymoon. Unless it's somewhere really cool & once in a lifetime, I'd do Disney baby! You could do a smaller, quieter honeymoon in June, put the money you'll be saving toward going all out on the Disney trip. My hubby & I weren't able to do a real honeymoon when we got married (17 years ago in Sept!), because my grandfather had been very ill in the hospital, and I didn't want to go to far away. We live in the DFW area we stayed in a hotel locally and went and did all the things that tourists do, but that as locals we'd never experienced. We had a great time! We took our official honeymoon the following year on Isla Mujeres, a little island off the coast of Cancun.

Either way, double-congrats on the upcoming graduation & wedding!:bride: :groom:

Congrats!!! So what are your tips for getting Cindy's table? I'm anxiously waiting for (a) the 2008 rates to come out and (b) our date for ADRs (7/31).... I can hardly wait!!!!

I called before the 180 days. One lady told me they make them 190 days out for people staying on site. I found out that's not true, but if she's out there making them, other people are getting our spots! So, if you're day is 7/31, I would call a few days before and see what happens. I wanted Friday for CRT, but booked for Satuday b/c they had some times available. Then the morning of 180 days, they had released a few more tables, so I got Friday and cancelled Sat.
I was also told they release only a few each day, then the rest of the tables 180 days from the date of the meal at Cindy's. Which makes sense, since I couldn't get the Friday date, then the next day tables were available. Good luck!

Thanks so much for the advice and the well-wishing!

Called today and booked CSR for Jan 17-20th. I was told that new rates and package info would be available in early August, and that FL resident deals would be available in August or September.

Ok, I can make all my dining reservations on Sunday. Do I need to get up at 7 a.m. to try and do this or can I sleep in till at least 10?? I am not trying for Cindy's or anything like that. I am going to gry for breakfast at Chef Mickey's and dinner at Le Cellier. I swear I feel like I'm trying to get Bon Jovi tickets -- that's the only thing that gets me out of bed early on the weekends!!!

Booked first (probably only) trip to WDW Jan 6-12. Going all out! MK view at CR Jan 6-12. ADRs done including CRT. Bring on the codes!!!:cool1:

If you are going at times other than Jan 1st or 2nd you should be able to wait a couple of hours to make those ressies if you aren't wanting something really special like a illuminations cruise or Cindys table or unless you are making reservations for 10 people.

Actually I see you will be getting there the same day as we are. I'm sure you should be fine for making those reservations a few hours after they open Sunday.

Today I was able to make all my ADRs and I got everything I wanted- even Cindy's table! :cool1:
I called reservations and asked about a PIN and I had one on my name. But the price she said I got is the normal price for POR- $145(w/o taxes). I don't get it... :confused3

From what I have seen around disboards is that each CM has a different explanation of codes. :confused3 I would call back different times until a CM can explain the $145 price.

Has January (or even February) ever had a deal somewhat comparable to free dining? We haven't booked b/c we figure we won't be able to get a deal that's even somewhat close to September, which means I won't get to Disney for another 13 1/2 months unless they offer a deal with a difference that is small enough to convince DH that it is worth not having to deal with the Sep. heat! :)

I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that the last 2 years have been an upgraded ticket discount; base tickets turn into Park Hopper Water Parks and More tickets.

The 40% off pin code came out later in the month, but I'm not sure if they applied to Jan dates or just Feb and beyond.

Hasn't been free dining in January as far as I have seen...

I say sleep in. I called on Weds around 9:30 and got everything we wanted but Cindys. Had to call on Thursday for that and got it no problem. I'm not a morning person, but I also had to wait til DD was out of the house to call as she doesn't know about the trip yet. :thumbsup2

Thanks... that's what I thought it was. Sounds like it would be the more expensive option for us, but I have to say, it IS tempting to go in cooler weather! I'll keep hanging around and see what codes they come out with! :thumbsup2

I am making our ADR's. I was a day late for Cindy's, and there were a few options still open. And I was a few more days late for Sci-Fi, Prime Time, Coral Reef, and San Angel, and there were a lot of open times for those. I still have quite a few more ADRs to make, but I'm not too worried about it (except for maybe during marathon time). This is for our trip Jan 6-19.

:cool1: I get to make my ADR's on Monday!

For those that have been in January w/ the park hopper upgrade. Did you ever use them? I am a TGM'er and with the shorter park hours I just am not sure how I would use them.

We went in Jan this year w/hopper & more upgrade. We USED THE HECK out of the hopper feature. We love to go to a park for the day, eat dinner, then do a different park in the evening. We also almost never spend a whole day at AK or MGM, so with a hopper, we have the option of going to another park that day. Surprisingly, we also used the & more feature this trip. On our last day we went to Disney Quest at DTD. We would not have done it without it being free because of the cost, but it was a really cool place and we enjoyed it! We never even gave going to the water parks a second thought. It just is not warm enough IMO to try it. We have always used hoppers, and we love the flexibility they give---makes touring more relaxing for us.
