January 17, 2010 Buccaneer Booty in the Bahamas!!

Tiffany - How much was the room at The Country inn? I just looked it up and looks like it runs around $143?? I wish I had booked the Radisson when it was $107!!

The origional price for the room was $123.00 Plus they add $20.00 for the park & cruise package, but breakfast is included in the stay.

If we park at the port it is $15.00 per day for 7 days = $105.00 (4 X $15.00 = $60.00) Plus breakfast at the Radisson was about $30.00, so the $143.00 at the Country Inn ended up being about the same as getting the $107.00 room at the Radisson. We stayed at the Radisson last May and didn't like the Sleep Number beds at all!

There is a Comfort Inn (I think that's the name) just off I-95 that was less than $100.00 a night, but then you have to park at the port. If you don't have a car you won't need the Park and stay rate and can save $20.00.

We are a family of 6, kids 17, 9, 7 and 3. We have connecting 6's for a 4 day cruise (kids free) on January 17. We already told 17yo daughter she could bring a friend, so that puts us a party of 7, which is what we are booked as.

Two weeks ago, my precious Mother-in-law died. We assumed we could add my Father-in-law, so invited him in the midst of everything and he agreed to go. My husband is an only child and my Father-in-law has terminal colon cancer, so after losing his wife, we really don't want to leave him alone while we vacation. Our travel agent said that while our rooms had a capacity of 8, the ship was booked to capacity, so we would need to wait for a cancellation to add my Father-in-law. Since we are outside of our final payment, our chances were good, or so we were told. Since then, we discovered that our second connecting category 6 only sleeps 3, so any hope of adding a 4th person is pointless.

So (long story not so short- sorry), how do we go about adding him to someone else's reservation? I have been agonizing over what to do, so am open to any suggestions at this point. Not sure how adding him to another reservation would work, just looking for a solution. Any help is appreciated.

Hey Tiffany
We are at the County Inn as well. We stayed there before our last cruise and it is a nice place...it is all indoors unlike the Radisson. The shuttle is awesome as well! They actually give you the cell number so you can call the driver directly when you get outside to the bus stop so you dont have to wait long.

I know other people have been looking for FE gift ideas...some of our kids favorite items: disney buttons, tattos(especially pirate ones!), little note pads, stickers, and magnets.

I hope that kicks off the imagination LOL

Have a great Mon!

I've been looking up our cruise to see what categories are open and haven't seen anything for a couple of weeks. Hard to believe our cruise will sail full! I really wish we could help, but we are already a family of 4 booked in a cat 12 GTY. I'm sending some pixie dust your way! pixiedust:

This is great to know! We didn't have a problem catching the shuttle back to the Radison in May, but our friends had to wait 45 minutes to get a shuttle to stop for them. We also had a very hard time slepping on the Sleep Number bed and will not miss that! I've heard such great things about them, but I think we ended up with a dud!

Do you want to meet for breakfast?

Anyone else planning to book dinner at Palo or spa reservations?

Cheryl

We are! I'm hoping for Palo Brunch. I'm still out on the dinner, but we will prabably book one night there. I just enjoy the wait staff in the regular dining room and hate to miss a night on the short cruises. We are hoping to get the same wait staff for both cruises - that is if we like them. :rotfl2:

Only 6 more days until we can book our extras! :cool1:

Several of you have posted that you are going to surprise your kids with this cruise for Christmas.:santa:

How do you plan to do it?

We are also giving this cruise to our kids for Christmas and have a friend who is cruising on the Magic in October picking up some DCL cookies for us to wrap with a note about the cruise.

I'd love to hear other ideas and perhaps some ways to improve our surprise!

Tiffany

We're going to be at Disney the week before our cruises. I'm running the half marathon and the kids and dh are running the 5K at Disney that weekend before. We're booked on the 1/14 and 1/17 cruises - back to back. We're staying at the Residence Inn (booked on points - FREE!!!!) the night before. The morning we wake up, we're going to have shirts made for them that say, "My parents surprised me this morning with a Disney Cruise!!!" Our shirts will say, "We surprised our kids with a Disney Cruise today!" I hope it works!!

Not sure exactly how we are surprising the kids for Christmas yet. Their biggest surprise at this point will be that DH (and my friend's DH) may be back from Iraq in time for Christmas. That will be a huge surprise for both families' kids.

We don't have all of the logistics down yet of how we are going to tell them we are all going to Disney together AND on a Disney cruise. Would love to hear some ideas as well!

How AWESOME!!!!! My brothers got back from Iraq a couple years ago in time for Christmas. It was a WONDERFUL Christmas - even without a cruise!!! Your kids are going to be estatic!!!!!

Ok I am going to start the official Fish Extender sign up list...I will also add names of the last few people that said they might be intrested..please edit your info...
To sign up, hit the quote button and copy this thread...then add your name to the next number spot. This will be the easiest way to capture everyone that want to particpate.

I hope and pray that you are able to get your FIL added to your ressie!! When is the Paid In Full date again??? Keep us updated!!!!!

The paid in full date is 10/23. I checked the website today and there were several categories available, but only when entering 2 travelers. It gave me a price for a cat 12 of around $1,000 (can't remember exactly since I priced it with both 1 and 2 travelers). Still looking at options....Thanks for the happy wishes!

Hi Tiffany,

I've never booked Palo, excursions, etc online before. I paid in full yesterday, and DU's email said that I can begin booking on Monday 10/19 - Isn't Saturday the 90 day mark? Does this mean that we can book at midnight (Friday night)?

Thanks for your help!

In case anyone is interested, I booked the Comfort Suites (so that we can go to Atlantis) yesterday - the rate was $197

I have in my calendar that we can book at midnight Sunday night. I have Monday as the 90 day mark and that is why we can start at midnight.

Great price on the Comfort Suites! How many people did you book the room for?

Thanks! I can't wait until Sunday night!! I'm worried that we won't be able to get reservations to Palo since the ship is full..

We booked Comfort Suites for 4 people - and that was the AAA rate, but I know the price had gone down abot $35 since the last time I looked!

We have been on 2 other Disney Cruises, and haven't been to Palo or Atlantis, so we are hoping to do both this time! I am so excited now that we are fully paid - I've booked car rentals and pre-cruise hotel. Now, I need to start thinking of FE gifts!

Hi All --

DH & I are sailing on our 3rd cruise on 1/17/10. How about everybody else? Is this your first, second, etc.?

We would like to be added to the FE list. My DH and I are traveling with our adult daughter and our 2 granddaughters.

We have 2 Staterooms:

Disney1990 (Skip & Libby)
Shannon and children, Ashley (11) and Emma (9)

We will also be staying at the Country Inn and Suite if anybody would like to try and get together at the hotel, perhaps the evening before the cruise or for an early breakfast the morning of the cruise.

In addition, is there anybody that wanted Palo Dinner reservations that didn't get them? Or is there anybody that is cruising for the first time and is going to try and get Palo Dinner reservations on their 75th day? If so, let me know.

Look forward to seeing everybody.

Welcome!!!

We are traveling with friends, "welcoming home our soldiers" and this is the first cruise for both families, 4 adults and 5 kids, ages 14, 14, 11, 9 and 7.

I am hoping to make Palo dinner reservations for 4 on the night we are in Nassau; however, can't book until Nov. 3.

Welcome aboard Libby!

This will be our 1st cruise ever and we are so excited. We are telling the kids at Christmas. :cool1:

I have added yall to the FE exchange.

We are so excited to be Castaway Club members...we were able to book our dolphin encounter for the family...which was great! They still have many times left for Palo...so dont worry if you arent able to log on until Nov

Our family was one of the ones chosen to through the Disney Cruise house party! We are thrilled! This is going to put us in cruise overdrive LOL...I am hoping to spread the excitment to neighbors and friends to get them to see what they are missing

It feels much more real now that we made our final payment...
Anyone else booking excursions on this cruise?

Brigitte

I have noticed that other groups have a sign up for the day they will deliver their FE gifts. For those to have done the FE before, please give me your feed back or suggestions for this. I have the list updated (see post #91) We have 14 cabins signed up so far.:woohoo:

Deadline for FE exchange is Nov 15.

Questions
***Do we want to do a sign up for delivery days or just let it be a suprise?

***What happens if someone upgrades at port and has a different cabin #?

Fish extenders...when I started the FE sign up thread...my intent was to divy up the days. I think it is helpful to know who is going on which day so that everyone is guarnteed to get something on every day. What I was going to do the day of the FE deadline, was to record the particpants and figure out how many would be going each day and have each party volunteer for a day with however many slots there were for that day.
One my last cruise...we had 4 people go each day...it was great! The kids would come back to the rooms at various times throughout the day and they thought Tinkerbell had come with presents! They tried to "catch" her the entire cruise!

On the 2 cruises we did, people just played it by ear. Most people tried to give out their items on the first 3 days of a 4 day cruise; and if they got behind, they had the last night to catch up. Without navigators in your hand, nobody knows what plans they will have on which days.

Whatever everybody else wants, we'll go along with.

As far as people changing rooms at port, I'm not sure how to handle. Is there anybody that is planning to try for an upgraded room after they reach port?

Hi There,

This is our 3rd cruise, the others were 3 day cruises. We are also staying at the Country Inn the night before. Our flight gets in at 7:30 pm, so we may be tired, but we'd love to meet you at breakfast. My dd Hannah will be 10 on the cruise. She has been very hesitant to go to the kids club in the past, so it would be nice to meet other children her age before the cruise. I think it will make her more comfortable going to the club!

We got Palo reservations this time, on Day 3 (Castaway Cay day). This will actually be our first time going to Palo! We haven't booked any Disney excursions, but we did book a room at the Comfort Suites to go to Atlantis for the day!

I'm very excited now that the cruise is paid in Full!
