January 17, 2010 Buccaneer Booty in the Bahamas!!

Hi There,

This is our 3rd cruise, the others were 3 day cruises. We are also staying at the Country Inn the night before. Our flight gets in at 7:30 pm, so we may be tired, but we'd love to meet you at breakfast. My dd Hannah will be 10 on the cruise. She has been very hesitant to go to the kids club in the past, so it would be nice to meet other children her age before the cruise. I think it will make her more comfortable going to the club!

We got Palo reservations this time, on Day 3 (Castaway Cay day). This will actually be our first time going to Palo! We haven't booked any Disney excursions, but we did book a room at the Comfort Suites to go to Atlantis for the day!

I'm very excited now that the cruise is paid in Full!

It would be great to have the girls meet before the cruise. We are planning on trying to have an early breakfast before heading to the Port.

This will be the first cruise for Ashley & Emma and they don't know about it yet.

Anybody else staying at County Inn & Suites and wants to try to get together for breakfast is more than welcome to join in.

This is our first time on a Disney cruise (or any cruise at all). We are very excited but I have a couple of questions...

1 - What is the weather usually like? I don't want to book excursions that we cannot use. We did Disney in January once and it was 35 degrees and raining.

2 - Do your children have any motion sickness problems? What do you do to avoid this?

Thanks so much! I appreciate any advice you can send my way.

We cruised last November/December and personally, it was too cold for me to get in the water. If it were me, I would not book anything that required me to be in the water (like a swim with dolphins), just in case. That said, the water temps at Castaway will probably be in the mid 70s and some people feel that water is warm enough to swim in.

The daytime temps should be great, high 70s -- great weather to be outside in, not hot like in the summer.

We took Bonine (non-drowsey) with us, but we never used it. We used ginger candy and ginger pills (which we started a day before the cruise). I saw that there is also a ginger gum. I also have a pair of the SEA BANDS, which go on your arm pressure point. We didn't use them, but one of our friends got seasick and used them the entire trip.

We would like to be added to your FE group. We have 2 boys - Nicholas is 7 and Luke is 4. Our cabin # is 2643.

Please let me know if I need to do anything else. Thanks!

Just wanted to check since we thought of putting candy in some of the FE's. Does anybody that is planning on participating have anybody in their family with allergies -- particularly nut allergies. Would a candy that is made in a factory with nuts (such as plain M&Ms) be a no, no. I wouldn't want anybody to have problems on the cruise.

On our last cruise, we received them both ways.

With the FE extenders, I am going to tell my boys that Tinkerbell and the Lost Boys (from Peter Pan) delivered the gift. They don't care much for Tinkerbell, but they love the Lost Boys. Does anyone have any suggestions for what these gifts should be? We've never done this before. :goodvibes

There are some creative people out there that make FE gifts. We have received pens from England, small bottles of alcohol, candy, all kinds of Pirate items such as tattoos and Pirate rings. Good places to check are Dollar stores and the $1.00 Spot in the front of Target. These 2 links should give you some ideas. It's just cool to come back to your room and have a "surprise". Basically, just have fun with it.

Hey guys - no posts?

We are now under 90 days. Are you making any plans of what you are going to do on the cruise? My DH, my DD and I are going to Palo for brunch on Wednesday at 10:30. The granddaughters will probably hang out at the Lab while we are gone. When we get to Nassau, we are going to do some sightseeing. We want to go to the Queen's Stairs and to the Fort to look down on the ship in port. The view is so awesome -- I'm hoping for good weather. We are also considering doing a carriage ride around the city. Oh yes, we will probably do a little shopping and go to Starbucks for coffee. This will probably take a few hours and then we will head back to the ship for a late lunch and a swim, if the weather is good. If it weren't January, we might consider letting the girls swim with the dolphins, but the weather in January can be good or not. I don't want to commit to being in the water, just in case.

So, everybody else must be considering what they are going to be doing on the cruise? Let's hear your ideas.

I made Palo reservations for Tuesday night (no brunch, as my dd's bday is on Wed). I'm really hoping that both of my girls will enjoy the kids club enough for us to grab a few hours alone. On our last cruise, we relaxed by the adult pool for an hour, and it was so relaxing!

We also booked the Comfort Suites room so that we could spend the Nassau day at the Atlantis pool. My family is so excited about it, I hope the weather does cooperate! I guess I will be watching the forecast very carefully, just in case.

I can't wait!

Got up at midnight  to make excursion reservations for the Dolphin Encounter in Nassau, followed by Palo reservations for Monday night as we leave Nassau.:dance3: Also booked the Palo brunch for us on Wednesday!!

Think all of our plans are now in place. Just gotta get busy on the FE gifts!!!
I need to have it all done before DH returns from Iraq!!!!;):rolleyes1

Glad to hear that you got Palo brunch and dinner at Day 75. You hear horror stories about everything being taken by those that can book before Day 75. What time do you have brunch booked for? We have it at 10:30.

We have brunch booked for noon as that is all that was available. We wanted a table for 4, but had to book 2 tables of 2.

I was excited to get both as well. If we decide to cancel one, we will probably cancel the brunch and keep the dinner.

They don't completely fill Palo for the brunch. I am fairly sure that you will all be seated together when you go.

It's been quiet here! If everyone is a busy as we are with Halloween events, and gearing up for the Holidays I understand!

We booked Brunch in Palo and an Atlantis excursion back at 90 days, so I am now turning my attention on getting FE stuff ready and I'm still working on how to surprise the kids. I did put our suitcases in the bedroom last week, but haven't put anything in them yet.

I was also picked to host a DCL house party and we are doing a big Low Country Seafood Boil with 20 or our closest friends! We received our House Party box on Tuesday and had a bunch of great things in it for the party. Most of our friends are not as into DCL or Disney in general as we are, so we had to come up with a plan to get them here. I plan to have Konk Koolers to drink and play the DCL cd I made from our cruise last year and decorate with the DCL decorations they sent. We will also use the fun kids stuff they sent to entertain the kids and I'll send home the booklets with each family, but we're not going to push the cruise. In my opinion Disney Cruises sell themselves. I'm not sure how many families have sailed with Disney because we've gone on about how much fun we've had. Disney should give us onboad credit for each family! :lmao:

I hope everyone is having a great week!

I booked the Razul spa treatment for DH and myself on Nassau night. I couldn't get brunch at Palo, but thats ok...got to save something for the next trip. Time to make the packing list, FE and get my FE gifts together.....all with out the kids finding out.

We are going to do a scavenger hunt Christmas morning followed by a video to tell the kids they will be crusing on the Disney Wonder in 24 days. WooHoo!!!

Getting excited!!

the FE deadline is Nov. 15. :cool1::cool1::cool1:

I'm ready to start getting all of my gifts together. Can't believe how close we are.
