January 14th 2006 Magic Western.............

Anybody coming in the Friday before cruise date? I'm trying to decide where to stay.

First Choice: AKL for dinner at Boma!

Second Choice: POFQ, then go to ALK for dinner at Boma!

Third Choice: Pop Century, then go to AKL for dinner at Boma!

Final Choice: Somewhere cheap and take a taxi to AKL for dinner at Boma!

We are coming in on the 9th and staying at Coronado Springs and staying 5 nights there before the cruise. I just can't seem to do the cruise without staying a few days in Disney!!!

We will drive down. We live in Virginia so we drive down on Friday we get to at least Jacksonville on Friday night then get up and drive the rest of the way down on Sat morning. :moped: I am glad time is passing by. We booked in Jan and to have to wait a year semed like such a long wait but we are down to a little over 5 months and we are all getting excited... :cloud9:

Whome?: Boma is the best!! We tried it in March, and it was incredible!

We'll be flying in on the 13th, can't depend on the weather in Minnesota in January, so I definitely want to pad the extra day, just in case.

Don't know where to stay that night. With the online reservations, we don't need to be in a big rush to get to the boat that morning, so we may stay near Orlando. Swimming in a pool and going to Downtown Disney is fun, and may be a good way to start the trip. BUt hadn't thought about a return trip to Boma - Great Idea!!

I'm still waiting for good airfare. So far, not good enough prices to book. Those of you who can drive, you're lucky!!

Hi again everyone!!
just returned from a Western Carribean cruise on the Valor. It was awesome.
Now it's time to concentrate on the Magic cruise! Can't wait. Hope teh weather will be as good as it was this past week.

Okay Goofymama:

Which did you prefer more? Palo brunch? Palo high tea? Or Palo dinner?

We loved the Palo dinner on our last cruise, but people rave about the brunch. Which are you doing? All of the above? :teeth:

That is a very tough question! I'd say that if you "had" to miss one, I'd miss the High Tea. The dinner and brunch are fantabulous! :flower:

But don't get me wrong, the tea is VERY nice too. If you can swing it, I'd do all 3!!! :Pinkbounc

How do you book all three? Isn't it hard to get reservations?

I thought you could only pre-book one, and then take your chances on getting a second.

Has anyone had luck booking more than one?

Hi everyone!

We'll be on the cruise too - me, DH, DD(6), DD(4). This will be our first Disney cruise. DH and I wanted to cruise DCL years ago, but just knew we couldn't go until DDs were able to come too (had to get that potty-training thing overwith!).

I'm sure I'll have lots of questions for y'all! We're starting to think about how to get to the port now. Don't know if we want to save time and fly and use transfers (which sounds costly), or drive down (13 hours but will be able to easily visit WDW a couple days afterwards).

Welcome 2munchkins! And welcome to the DIS! Did you just find the DIS boards or are you a lurker coming out of hiding? You'll find soooooo much information here.

Well, now we know there are at least 10 DIS families on our cruise. I'm looking forward to chatting with you all more as time gets closer. I find I'm trying to keep my excitement at bay until that MAGIC date in October when I ante up the $$$ and it's 'for real'.

Thanks for the welcome!

I'm definitely a newbie to all this. I'm one to thoroughly research a vacation, and in searching for DCL info, stumbled upon the DIS boards. They are great!

Hello 2munchins! Our girls will be in the kids clubs together! My 2 DD's will be 5 and 3 by then, and they are so excited.

We went in March of '05, and we can't stop talking about it. In fact, DD2 - soon to be 3 - has a Cinderella dress, "glass" slippers, gloves, jewelry, etc. and can't stop talking about meeting the real Cinderella.

Hope we all have fun!

My family will be traveling as well. Myself, DW, DD4, DD1, FIL, MIL. I do have a question for the group. My Mom would like to come, but isn't up for the 175% rate as a solo traveler. Please let me know if anyone knows of a female looking to join this cruise as well.

Omalley, what catagory cabin are you/she looking to share? I assume you'd be trying to do at least the same deck as the rest of the family. I'm trying to convience a couple of my friends to consider this cruise (all 'mature' ;) women) and perhaps something could work out. I suspect none of them will be ready to commit for the next couple of months however. (My own plans won't be set in stone till the fall.)

My Mom (looking for a cabin mate) would be flexible on the cabin category. She may reserve an inside cabin during mid-August, and could try to upgrade later if that is a requirement of a potential cabin mate.

We haven't told DD4 about the trip yet, but she found the brouchure this evening and just stared at the page with Snow White. I am sure she will have a great time.

Does anyone have any idea what they will be doing while in port?

I was thinking of renting mopeds in Key West. I wish they would change this port. It's so boring there, and the beaches are terrible.

Going to a beach in Grand Cayman and renting wave runners. Maybe rent a scooter and go around to the end of 7 mile beach to the local public beach. I have heard it's the best one of all.
We were just there and the beaches are just beautiful!

Not sure about Cozumel, I've been here several times and I'm sick of it. I want to do something different. Any ideas?

Love Castaway Cay, can't wait to just relax there.

Omalley, I booked a single occupant Cat 11 (deck 6) mid-July and it was about $2000. I used a travel agent. Just checked DCL site (which you've probably already done!) and there were still 8 Cat 11's listed (deck 6) at $2230. There were cat 10's also, which would be a better choice, I guess, for adding a person to as it has the split bath. It wouldn't hurt to go ahead and put a deposit on something, as you'll have till Oct 31 to finalize plans.

CPM, I haven't done too much thinking about excursions yet. Key West will just be shopping, I'm sure. And I'm thinking about the dolphin swim at Cozumel, will probably put that on my Christmas list and hope for $$ from family ::yes:: I'll probably snorkel at Grand Cayman. I'm just so excited about being on the ship, I don't even care where we go!

Welcome OMalley! Boy, the kids clubs will be full of little girls! One thing we did before our March trip, when DD was 4, we got the free DVD from the Disney Cruise Line and played it - over and over and over again!

Both my DD's loved it, we still watch it, and it got them ready for the trip - what it would look like, what the kids' clubs were like, etc.

Not sure about excursions either, but I'd definitely like some time alone with DH to snorkel. I'm thinking Grand Cayman for that - but does anyone know where the best place is for snorkeling?

DH and I went to Key West a few years ago - without kids - and thought it was cool. However, not sure what we'll do with the girls.

Nice to see the newcomers to our thread! :bounce:

DH and I will be joining you all in January - our first cruise. Have been watching the DCL DVD and pouring over my Passporter in anticipation. Thanks to information from the great DIS folks, we've got a box of "cruise stuff" starting to accumulate, too. pirate:

Getting VERY excited!!

Captain Marvin's is supposed to be the best around there.
