January 14th 2006 Magic Western.............

Any other Floridians coming with us?
I'm traveling with five other Floridian families but besides them anyone else?
I'm also holding out hope for some Fl resident rates. They seem to be out every other week except ours. Must be a packed ship already :(

We also have the Oct. 31st deadline. Cat 6, wouldn't call that a "cheap seat"
Acutually on DCL there are no cheap seats :rotfl:

Ain't that the truth! ::yes:: Must just be like CAT 1-3 or 4 that have to pay at the 90 day mark.....don't really remember.

Has anyone gotten a packet from DCL or their travel agent yet? I understand they are sending out some 'welcome/trip planning' materials 125 days in advance. I wonder how full our ship is. We only have 15 DIS families on this thread so far. I should know in about another 45 days if my trip is a Go/No Go...keeping my fingers crossed!

We are flying in Thursday before the cruise and we would like to stay by the port. Any ideas?

I can't find a good deal. I'm booked at the Hampton Inn and it's $139.00. I may have booked too far out, I'm going to start looking for some better rates.

Yes, we got a packet a week or so ago. I was so excited, but when looking through it, it really didn't show anything that I didn't already know. It's a sales brochure trying to get us hooked on all the excursions.

Good Luck!

Our group of family and friends (total of 12) will also be cruising. Mine and hubby's third Western Disney cruise. Hi to the Wisconsin folks...we live in Milwaukee and we will be crusing with three other couples from milwaukee including my in-laws (their second Disney cruise). We will also be traveling with my Sis and her family (their first cruise ever) from Michigan. She has a 8 year old son. Any other 8 year old boys out there looking foward to the lab? Any Michiganders traveling? (Sorry, but I am new to all this abbreviation lingo...what do all the abbreviations stand for...DD, DH Etc...I would like to be in the know)

Yo ho, yo ho a pirates life for us! pirate:

Welcome! I haven't been on the board for a little while, and just wanted to answer your question. DD=Darling Daughter, DS=Darling Son, DH=the "D" can mean lots of things, but most think of it as Darling Husband.

Just wait 'til we start abbreviating the restaurants, talk about confusing!

I haven't gotten one yet.
Today I was pricing other ships for the heck of it. We could have a suite on the Valor or the Victory for less then our balcony cabin on the Magic that week, along with more exciting ports.
God, I wish it wasn't so expensive to cruise DCL!

I'm wondering if our cruise is sold out?? I went to check pricing on cruisecompete.com & that week was the only week not listed in January.
Or is something going on?
I didn't think it was possible in January unless there is some large group going.

I know that things were getting pretty full when we booked back in May. We wanted connecting Cat. 9 staterooms and couldn't get them. Had to settle for Cat. 10's. Also had to settle for 2nd seating dinner. That suggests to me that it was better than half sold out back in May. ::MinnieMo

I was just on the DCL site this weekend taking a look. Not sold out, but there were no CATs 9, 11 or 12 and they would only do GTY for cat 10's (hope I'm remembering this correctly), so you couldn't book a specific room # for cat 10. I have my notes at home, I'll edit this post if I'm not remembering it correctly.

Edited: There are still Cat 9's.

Yes! Our Disney Cruise Travel Kit arrived today! Appears to be all kinds of nifty info in those pages. Should have time tomorrow to check it out more thoroughly.
Best news, though, is that we can start making our reservations on October 1. That should give me enough time to poke around on the web site and figure out where to go and how to get to the reservation area by the 1st.

This is SO exciting!!

Yup, looks like it's available on the Disney web site, but not most of the discount travel sites I have checked.
I can't believe how much it's gone up!

here is the newest quote from Disney on my cat 6 cabin:

7-NIGHT WESTERN CARIBBEAN CRUISE
January 14-21, 2006
(Ship: Disney Magic)
Stateroom: 2 Adults and 1 Child (Age 9)
Total Price: $ 5,192.44

We paid $3,819.54 for the three of us.
I guess booking ahead is the best way to go.

I can't wait to get mine!!
Wow, Oct. 1st!! I better start poking too. LOL There is going to be so much less stress having Palo's already booked.

I haven't gotten my travel kit yet. I'm watching every day!!

I'm wondering how you can book excursions starting October 1st. I thought it was 90 or 75 days, dependig upon if it will be your first cruise or not. Have things changed???

Oh, sorry.....we decided to go with the Romantic Escape at Sea package especially for the ability to make reservations 105 days out. Though the latest information about the extra goodies added to the package makes it sound like a pretty good deal. (Almost as good as having the couples' massage.)

Oh okay. Thanks for clarifying that. I have to figure out when 90 days out is now lol.

I'm sooooooooooo confused??

So, if you book the REAS, you can start booking your reservations as of Oct. 1st.

But, if you are a repeat cruiser - aka Castaway Club member - you can start booking Oct. 15th?

And, if this is your first time on a Disney cruise, you can start booking Oct. 31st?

Is that right?

BTW, have you already paid in full? We're putting that off as long as possible! :earboy2:

Oh - one more thing, when Disney says Oct. 1st - does that mean 12:01am on the 1st? So I should stay up late?

I guess DH is right when he says I tend to make my explanations as complicated as possible.

I won't quote specific dates (math is not my "best thing"), but, yes, reservations can be booked 90 days out if you're a repeat cruiser and 75 (I think that's the right number), if you're a first timer. Those in the "conceierge" staterooms and those who've booked the REaS package can schedule reservations 105 days out. (I do know the date in that case is Oct. 1st 'cause both our TA and DCL told me, so I don't have to dig out a calculator.)

Yup, we paid off the cruise balance last week. I wanted to be sure everything was taken care of (you have to be "paid in full" before you can make the online reservations).

I'd thought the official start time would be 12:01 a.m. on Oct. 1st, but I've since read on this board that it's actually 3:01 a.m. in this part of the country. AARGH!! Guess that makes it officially a new day for those in the Pacific time zone, so we're all on equal footing. 'Cept for the 3 a.m. part. :sad2:

Darn, so that is a good way to get all that money from people ahead of time I guess. So, we need to pay by Oct. 1st.

We guessed that DS was son, DD was daughter etc. but we were not sure what the first D stood for. Thanks for taking the time.
