January 14, 2012 Eastern Carribbean Cruise

I don't know what we're going to do yet either....still have to decide if we want to fly in the night before, we would probably just stay at the Hyatt at the airport and then take DCL transport to the port. But we don't want to have to deal with our luggage, so maybe we'll just fly in that morning...I'll have to do more research and think about it. Thank goodness we have plenty of time!

ooohhh Thats an idea. What time of day do you think you will fly in? Do they have any good restaurants there?

You are more brave than I am! I am SO paranoid about missing a flight because of snow. On our last DCL trip we alomst didn't make it out. We were on the last flight before the airport closed down. No other flights would have been available and we would have missed the cruise. We flew on a Wednesday (? or Thursday), but it was the week before Feb vacation, which is a HUGE factor around here--everyone who can evacuates to warmer climates in February, lol.
Dave and I are also lucky with schedule flexibility, so we take advantage of it on occasion.
I can't believe I am thinking about details when the cruise is still over a year away. I am definitely a planaholic!!

You are more brave than I am! I am SO paranoid about missing a flight because of snow. On our last DCL trip we alomst didn't make it out. We were on the last flight before the airport closed down. No other flights would have been available and we would have missed the cruise. We flew on a Wednesday (? or Thursday), but it was the week before Feb vacation, which is a HUGE factor around here--everyone who can evacuates to warmer climates in February, lol.

Well now that you mention it, though the chances of a major snow storm are not great for early January, it is a possibility I suppose...I will look into flying in the night before perhaps. But I really don't want to take another vacation day....I guess it would be better than missing the cruise! Ack! (and EEK!)

Jen-I'm not sure about restaurants at the Hyatt..I will look into it!

So, I'm thinking I want to change our stateroom! I found out our verandah is smaller than others! I have e-mailed Kelsie already, so hopefully she can help me. We may even upgrade to the clear wall verandah if we have to.....

Lori spill it... what info did you find out? I have a white wall veranda, is mine smaller as well? I'd love to have a clear but I really don't want to upgrade at this point and I really like being right next to the deck I think we can all use to drink at night. and breakfast upstairs. You know there is a pretty good picture of back of the boat and the verandas on Disney under, I think, Caribbean cruises... or maybe just ships, Magic. It's the other side but we can see the opposite state rooms

I'm waiting to decide on what I'm doing before the cruise until after everyone else decides.

Hey there! I was hoping that you were coming back! lol Yes I am sure you will put the names to the screen names soon. I try to refer to people by their screen names to cut down on the confusion but sometimes I forget. If you dont remember just say "hey! Who's Alex?" uh...I mean "who's Stephanie" or whomever. (we had a running joke on a guy they would always refer to Alex when his screen name was AllTexan. I didnt remember anyplace that told me Alex was AllTexan so I asked. They informed me. Then they would let weeks go by and I would forget so someone else would say "Alex is doing this" and I would say "who's Alex?" So it got so bad that when anyone at all would refer to Alex I would say "WHO'S ALEX!!!" hahahaha)

What fun! You guys are certainly a silly bunch which sounds good to us because we like to be silly too!

Our crazy night just got cancelled due to weather, so I have 5 minutes to check in and say hi. So, hi

Where is everyone planning to stay the night before the cruise? I think we're staying at the Residence Inn or Courtyard.
We are going to fly down on Wednesday and stay at WDW 'till Friday afternoon, maybe go to the parks for 2 days--where will depend on deals and how much money we have saved up. I'd love to surprise Dave with a savannah room at AKL.

I think our room (7520) is the only one with no stateroom report. The rooms near it got good ones though, so I think we should be OK.

I think my 5 minutes are up--I promised to make pizza and the dough is ready.

Once it gets closer we will know how many days early we are going and if we are going to do parks or not with this vacation.

Even if we don't do parks we will probably stay at Disney. We like to start our vacation out with staying on property to get into the magical spirit of it all. Kids like to swim (if it's warm enough) and just knowing they are at Disney is a treat. We sometimes also will want to do a character meal at a resort so we kick off in Disney style without having to pay for a park.

Sue I am with ya! We are from NY State and we would love to not have to always fly in a day early but we feel there is no way around it. In fact like you were saying I really feel worried unless I know I have a few days leeway.

Last May we flew to Vegas in beautiful weather but the flight had a problem and we almost didn't make it out. We had to change to a different flight and we were lucky to get the spots we did. We kept saying phew! Thank god it wasn't a cruise! Getting to Vegas a few hours later wasn't a big deal but with a cruise it is too stressful.

Add in our weather and there is no way we can chance it! Anyway we think it is a good excuse to add some days on to our vacation.

"Some people do not like them as while sitting down you can't see through them. In order to really look out over the ocean you have to stand up. As an adult, I actually don't mind them as they tend to be a bit deeper than regular veranda."

I'm thinking I Jeff may want to upgrade as he liked sitting out watching the ocean but if he doesn't mind we'll probably stay where we are... I'm now wishing I would have gotten 7618.

We go camping in Acadia Natnl Park every summer (August). I am already packing for that! My family thinks I am nuts, but they also enjoy that all they need to do is throw their clothes in a bag and they are done...
