January 09: Limited Resort Availability!

Has anyone else noticed this? I do have a reservation made for a split stay in Jan at AKL/WL, but I sure am hoping a good code comes out for Jan to make this more affordable! I was thinking of getting an AP for the room discount (this will be a 9 day trip).

When I just now checked Disney's website, they are showing very limited availability at moderates...nothing at POFQ or CSR for our dates. I was considering switching to a moderate in the event we don't luck into a an AP or other code.

Anyone know if the resorts are usually so booked up for this time of year? It's around MLK holiday, but even so, I wouldn't think that would make such a big difference?

Should I be worried at this point in time about securing a moderate instead of the deluxe if the code doesn't work out for Jan?

Well this is my first trip but I have been finding the same thing. I waited too long to make up my mind and what we really wanted is now not available. I got a AAA card for the discount in the event a good code doesn't come out through disney visa, pin, or GP code. I'm hoping but not banking on it. We want CR tower MK view and even atrium club level (which wasn't what we wanted but were willing to pay for it to get to CR) is now booked 1/11-1/16 and really I'm finding its the last day of my stay that is the problem. Many people are coming in on Thursday and Friday for the long MLK weekend. I did read that MLK is a popular week and not a value week like the others during Jan/Feb. So we took an MK view room at GF after originally booking at WL with no view. I'm hoping for a code that will give me more off especially if we end up at CR in the club level. But at this point I'm just happy I've got a monorail resort with a view I want. Most of what I was looking at for my week was gone too

The weekend of January 9-11 is Marathon Weekend, so that may have something to do with room availability the week before MLK day. I should probably admit that DH and I have 60 rooms in our Disney Fairy Tale Wedding Vow Renewal room block and those rooms are blocked until mid-December. You may actually see a lot of rooms become available right before Christmas as people finalize marathon weekend/following week plans.
