Jane E.'s Fitness Journal

The tootsie pops are history!

Saturday's:
15 minutes of walking

breakfast: eggwhite scrambler

lunch: LC chix dinner, mocha bar

snack: 2 chocolate chip cookies

Saturday was a very busy date for us. Dinner that night was very late. Dh's friend was over so we ate leftover spaghetti out on the patio at about 10pm.

dinner: lowfat spaghetti, glass of sparking white zin, Smart One's eclair

Sunday: 15 min of cardio

breakfast: 3 strawberries, lowfat cheese wedge & 2 slices of ham, oj

lunch: LC chix dinner, Smart One's key lime pie

Sunday night we had a birthday party to go to at a steakhouse. They ordered a bloomin onion type appetizer. I couldn't resist it! I love those things.

dinner: salad w/nonfat honey mustard dressing, several bites of fried onions w/dip, 1 roll w/butter, baked potato w/sour cream and butter, ribs - just took three of the bones because I was stuffed, 3 glasses of white zin

Monday:
breakfast: ham, pineapple & lowfat cheese

lunch: chix noodle soup - Its one of those Campbells Soups that you put in the micro. One can has two serving.

I'll get back to adding in calories/fat grams later. I'm really busy today.

Thanks for your support Amy. All the candy is gone & I've gotten my mocha bars back in. For some reason I don't usually overindulge on those. I hope your weekend went well. So glad its is over!

Pearliqu, thanks for stopping by. I know what you mean about those nibbles. For some reason pizza is the worst! I just can't have one slice. The key for me is learning to keep that stuff out of my house.

Frogmommy, I'm so glad your dad's back home. They must've been so homesick. How did their house fare? You must be relieved.

Yay, I'm glad those Tootsie Pops are gone! I have to get rid of my kids' candy, it is driving me nuts...

Your weekend sounds full of good food and good times! I had a free-for-all this weekend, but c'est la vie, right?!? I am also glad the weekend is over. I think as long as we are losing weight overall, the weekend fluctuations aren't as bad as we think. Kinda like when you look at the historical graphs for the stock market. It is all up/down/up/down but the overall trend is increasing (except in this case, our overall weight is decreasing). At least that makes me feel better about things when I think of it that way...

Have you upped your exercise challenge goal yet? You are doing great, I need to catch up!

Amy, congrats on your engagement. :cheer2: I'm so excited for you. You're going to be in awesome shape for that wedding.

Since I didn't make my exercise goal last month I'm not going to increase the minutes for this challenge. If I exceed them - then great. At least now I feel that I have a workable goal with all of the holidays coming up.

dinner last night: leftover ribs, cranberry juice, mocha bar

snack: toast w/lowfat cheese, cranberry juice

Today:
45 minutes of circuit training

breakfast: 3/4 c cereal w/ 1/2 c nonfat milk 150 cal 0 fat gr
lunch: pizza burger on a bun 260 cal 9 fat grams
diced peaches 70 cal 0 fat grams
snack: 2 apples and 2 lowfat cheese 230 cal 4 fat gram
dinner: LC eggroll 310 cal and 5 fat grams
frappachino bar 120 cal and 1.5 fat grams
total so far: 1140cal 19.5 fat grams

Yesterday I did my spring cleaning in my kitchen. I threw out a big garbage bag full of stuff and another garbage bag of tupperware, pots & pans that I no longer need. I'm trying to streamline my cabinets. Its seems like every time I grab a tupperware I either find the container or lid but not both. With older ds gone & younger ds in and out alot I just don't need all of that stuff anymore.

Aw, thanks Jane! I know I made the right choice this time!! :goodvibes Unfortunately I don't think I will have a chance to get into awesome shape since DF wants to get married the first weekend in December. I'd have to stop eating right now and not eat again until after the ceremony... :rolleyes1

Your meals look great for today! What daily calorie range are you shooting for? Are you using FitDay or just writing it down?

Doesn't the Tupperware thing drive you nuts?!?! How does everything get so screwed up? I just went through that a couple months ago.

Finishing up yesterday's food - I had two rootbeers 220 cal 0 fat grams
3 bites of steak that I'd marinated for dh & he'd grilled. I wanted to make sure it was tender. I have no excuse for the rootbeer - they put me over!

I'm just going to guess that the steakbites were proably about 100 cal & 3 fat grams

total for yesterday: 1460 calories 22.5 fat grams

Today:
breakfast cereal w/nonfat milk 150 0
lunch: LC eggroll 300 5
mocha bar 90 1.5
total as of lunch: 540 6.5

Now I need to just quit eating!!!

I'm planning on doing some yoga later today.

Amy, thats really quick! You won't have much time to plan. As for my calories - I generally don't pay as much attention to them as I do to fat grams. I try to keep my fat grams under 23 and then I feel the calories should be ok. However, it doesn't always work that way. I'm kind of shooting at about 1250 or so for the calories but if I don't have alot of time I just add up the fat grams.

Boy, I could do some serious damage if I only counted fat grams! I'd be picking all the unhealthy things with no fat/low fat. Like jelly beans, Skittles, marshmallows, martinis...

You are doing so good! :cool1: Have those 4 Halloween lbs come off yet? I'm sure they have. Did you get your yoga in? You are kicking butt on the exercise challenge! :cheer2:

Amy, I weighed in yesterday at 157.5. Its slowly coming off. You're right about the calories - it doesn't always help just to count fat grams. I could do the Skittle - Cosmopolitan Diet Plan. By the end of the day I wouldn't care how much I weighed!

20 minutes of yoga

breakfast: 1/2 banana 1 wedge lowfat cheese

lunch: 1 apple, lowfat wedge, 2 pieces of chocolate

Hi Jane,

You are doing Awesome with the exercise! Some day I hope to be back up to the level you are, but I'm easing back into things after my recent surgery.

I agree with the others. Tilapia is usually a good protein choice, its all the stuff we put on it that adds the calories. Pecans, all nuts really, are good, but high in calories unfortunately! :sad2:

The Tupperwares!! I took a part of a morning not too long ago and purged the container drawer. Threw out anything that didn't have a lid, then went through the lids and pitched a bunch of those too.

Have a good weekend! :sunny:

That weight will be off before you know it, don't worry!

Do you have any plans for the weekend? Besides eating healthy and working out that is... ;)

I messed up with dinner a bit last night. I figured that we'd be eating at 7pm so I planned my meals and snacks accordingly. Unfortunately dh did get home at 7pm but he had stuff to do. He didn't turn on the grill until sometime after 7:30pm. We weren't ready to eat until 8:15. Since we were having fajitas I had everything set out. Meanwhile I was starving. I would have been ready to eat at 6. While waiting, I kept grabbing the shredded cheddar/jack cheese. I know if the chix had been ready I never would have done this. I love cheese & it used to be a real problem for me. I've learned that if I have lots of other good things to eat I use cheese sparingly. I think I must've eaten about 1/2 C while waiting.

Last night's dinner: beside the cheese; homemade fajitas

Today for breakfast: eggwhite omelette w/ 3 slices of thin ham & lowfat cheese, oj 225 3.0

lunch: grilled chix, SO chocolate mousse

dinner: I'm still stuffed from that darn cheese last night - think I may skip dinner!!!

Kate, I feel like I can never win the battle of the Tupperware! I decided just to close my eyes and pitch 1/2 of it! My cupboards are much neater now. I'm glad that you're feeling well enough to post & continue with your program.

Amy, not too sure about our plans for this weekend. We may be going to a sportsbar for football. If we do I'll try to stick with wine - I think it does a lot less damage than some of the mixed drinks; although, I've been tempted to try a rum and diet coke for a change.

Ooh! I hear you on the dinner frustrations. I try to hold our for DH and sometimes he doesn't make it home in time and it's easy to get crazy-hungry! At least you kept it to just the cheese! I'm sure it will all balance out.

Your thinking about the drinks sounds right. Wine usually has a lot less calories than some of the mixed stuff. They do have that light rum now too. I don't know if it's any good, but you might be able to get a pretty low cal rum & diet coke. Have fun!

Today's workout 30 minutes of walk/jogs and 5 minutes of light free weights. I'm hangin' in there with this workout challenge. That is helping to keep me on track.

Last night I did eat a light dinner-
3 slices of thin ham & 1 wedge of lowfat cheese, cranberry juice

Today's breakfast"
scrambled eggwhites w/onion, thin ham & 1 wedge of lowfat cheese 135/2.5

Pearliq, its such a pain trying to figure out exactly when he'll be eating. He could eat at 10pm and be happy. He won't eat until he has finished all of his work for the evening. Once he eats - he wants to relax, watch tv etc. I'd rather eat at 5:30 or 6pm. Alot of times I just go ahead and eat and then I'll warm up his stuff later. However, when we grill out he usually does the grilling so I'm held hostage waiting for him to cook. What gets me is that he'll look over at me as he's eating his 9pm dinner - by then I'm usually hungry AGAIN. I'll grab a bite of his fajita or chili or whatever and he'll say, "its after 7pm I thought you weren't supposed to eat this late." What gets me is that if he ate earlier Iwouldn't be tempted. ITs the smell of the food wafting thru the house that gets me! Enough of this rant - I'll just have to learn to deal with it!

  I'm 155.5!!!  I'm so glad I'm not stuck anymore! Another .5 and I'll be able to put my 25lb clippie back on!! I felt stuck between 157 and 158 - I'm going to lose that .5 this week so I'm back on track!

Congrats for the loss!!!! You'll have that clippie back in no time.

And good for you for sticking with the workout challenges. I agree, those are fantastic for keeping us on track.

It is really difficult sometimes not to snack when your dinner time is unpredictable. I finally had to tell my DH that dinner would be no later than 7:30. He does his best to be there, since this is also family time. Maybe on the days your DH grills you could plan to have some healthy snacks available while you are waiting?

Have a good week!

finishing from this weekend - what I didn't post

Saturday lunch: chix breast, cranberry juice

dinner: one quesadilla NO CHEESE!!!!, orange juice

snack: 2 lowfat cheese, 1 apple

Sunday: dh's back was in bad shape this weekend. He did not want to go to a noisy sports bar and sit in those hightops instead we opted for Sunday brunch out.

brunch: 1/2 order eggs benedict, homefries w/ketchup, 1/4C fresh fruit, 2 mimosas

dinner: 1/2 order eggs benedict, cranberry juice

snack: 1 apple, 2 lowfat cheese, one rootbeer

Ds and his wife came over last night. They brought pics & a dvd that ds made. After that we watched some TV together. They ate popcorn and rootbeer which I keep for them when they come over. Somehow I'm not temped as much by these treats. I did have one rootbeer but avoided the popcorn opting instead for my laughing cows.

Workout for today: 40 minute bike ride. I love my bike riding. Its just getting started thats difficult for me. Once I get out there in the fresh air I love it. I feel that it tones my legs, abs & buns more than any of the other workouts I do.

breakfast: eggwhite scramble w/onions, peppers, thin ham &lowfat cheese wedge 90/2.5

lunch: 2 apples, 2 lowfat cheese wedges 220/4

dinner: LC cabbage 200/6

total so far: 510/12.5

I tried to use Fitday but end up pulling my hair out! The dog even hates me when I go to that website. I guess I'm just a rightbrained paper &pencil gal!

GMA had a story on about weightloss. I missed the beginning but from what I heard they said that drinking a glass of sugar water in between meals helped people lose weight. Some people had lost 30-40 lbs doing this. I'm going to peruse their website and see if I can find the story. Somehow the sugar water does not cause cravings like other foods/juices do. The people they interview all said it was fairly easy to do and the weight seemed to come off easily. Of course, we may find that down the line they all end up with diabetes or something. Thats what scares me - the part of the story they don't tell!

Hey Frogmommy, I see that you deal with these late dinners like I do. Dh has always been like this. You've got a good idea about my need to plan ahead with healthy snacks. An apple with lowfat cheese does a lot less damage than a handful of jack cheese!

Bike riding sounds like fun! We'll be moving soon, maybe I'll get a bike to ride around my new neighborhood!

How do you make a quesadilla with no cheese?

I'm with Good Eats - Quesadilla with NO CHEESE??? I thought that was one of the prerequisites.

Well anyway good for you!! Sounds like you had a great weekend. :flower:

Way to go resisting the popcorn and having cheese instead! Popcorn is a hard one, it smells SO GOOD!!!!!!!!

You are way nicer than me about the whole dinner thing. I make dinner and if my soon-to-be DH is late, a plate is waiting for him in the microwave... He doesn't mind!! You need to learn how to fire up that grill!! Cook a bunch of extras so you can just heat the chicken up the next couple nights.

YAY on the loss!!!!!!! :cheer2: I knew you'd get back on track!!! I'm sorry FitDay is so frustrating for you. I don't know what I'd do without it! But a paper and pen get you the same results, do whatever works best for you!!! ;)

I miss riding my bike. There is just not enough time in the day... But I need to enjoy the time with my little ones because they will be gone before I know it - then I'll have so much spare time I won't know what to do with myself, right?!?!

You are doing awesome Jane, keep it up!!!

I didn't snack yesterday. :cheer2: Today I did 50 minutes of circuit training. And yes I did do the 30 minutes of yoga that I scheduled in a few days ago.

breakfast: egg scramble w/ onions, green pepper, thin ham, lowfat cheese
90/2.5

lunch: 2 apples, 2 lowfat cheese 220/4
cranberry juice 160/0

dinner: tilapia in a wine sauce with italian parsley & lemon 300/ 9
cinamon apples 190/3
cranberry juice 160/0 choc chip sundae -Smart One's 170/3
total so far: 1290/21.5

Allison and Cindy, I really don't miss the cheese on my quesadillas when we grill the chix out. We grill a couple different kinds of peppers & saute onions. I wrap everything in the tortilla with medium salsa & sometimes add chopped tomatoes. Cheese is a problem food for me. Once I start I can't stop. However, dh misses the cheese so I guess I'll have to get some the next time we have tortillas.

Amy, can you help me with Fitday? I decided to start my list with eggwhites. First I did a search for eggwhites - I couldn't find any listed. Then I decided to add eggwhites. I use All Whites, 1/4C, 30 calories. When I tried to input the information it would only let me put in 1C. For some reason I couldn't put in 1/4C or .25 etc. Then I was left with 1C of eggwhites & I hadn't even tried adding in the thin ham, lowfat cheese, onions or green pepper! I know that you eat eggwhites - how did you enter them in? I'm much faster with a pencil & paper!

Amy, its true children grow up quickly! You're right, its more important to spend time with them. Life changes dramatically as soon as they hit those teen years.

Good job on your exercise. You guys have me curious about Fitday. I'll have to look it up when I get back from vacation.
