Jan 2009 Code Watch

You get dining discounts (usually 10%) at a select group of table service restaurants and you can purchase a discounted membership to "Tables in Wonderland" (read about "Tables" on the dining boards.)

Other than that, I don't know of any huge dining discounts. But, I believe that when I booked earlier this year that the AP dining plan was only $30 per person where (correct me if I'm wrong please) I think the public rate is $40 per person.

Is Tables of Wonderland what the DDE card is now called? Because I could swear that with that card you get more than 10% off at most TS's. If you get even 20% off, it seems to me that it would be more economically than the DDP.

I think the PP meant that there is an AP discount at a very select list of TS restaurants - you need to just show your AP to receive the discount. The restaurants are listed in the AP benefits brochure. That is separate from the TIW/former DDE card that costs about $60 extra (is that current price? I didn't buy one this year) but offers a 20% discount at most TS restaurants.

You should be able to call in once the codes come out, they'll apply that code, and credit you back the difference. Don't give up yet !!

Thanks, that makes me feel a little less worried.:thumbsup2

My best guess is tomorrow for VISA codes, Friday at the latest. Go to www.chase.com. You need to be able to log in with a username & password to access your account. Then click on "Disney Offers" and it will pop up a window with their current offers.

The CM I talked to today said they have no advance notice of the VISA codes because they don't come from Disney, they come from Chase. She said most of the time they find out when people start calling to use the code.

Thanks, I went on the site to be sure that I knew how to log in, found that section, etc. No news, yet, but at least I can access that at work. Can't look at disboards til I get home.;)

Ack! I've been waiting for days and days for the AP rates to be released and of course today's the day that my cable and internet went out.:lmao: I just got off the phone with Disney and got 7 days at Pop in a preferred room with dining for $1068.40. We saved $260.96 off our original quote.

I'm alittle annoyed because I want to log into the AP only part at disneyworld.com but my pass is expired! (It has been since Sept but it just started telling me my numbers aren't valid) I wanted to play around with dates and resorts!

The only problem with the DDE is the 18% gratutity added automatically. That means you are really only getting a 2% discount as you may not want to tip as much as 18%.

So on a meal that may cost $56.00 you get $11.20 off and add back $8.06 for
the tip and you end up saving $3.14 and you have to add in the price of the DDE.

Aren't you going to leave some sort of tip? I can understand not liking them deciding that you should tip 18% but if you were going to leave 15% that means the DDE still saves you 17% (20% savings less "extra" 3% tip).

Correct me if I am wrong but my whole beef w/ the DDE card is that it is not useable at most counter service places...when we want to make a "last minute" trip b/c we have an AP there is often not times for making good ressies at table service and the DDE is useless at that point. Am I right that it doesn't apply to many CS places??

Yes it isn't good at too many CS places but I'm not sure the new CS DDP is a great deal either.

I'm not a big drinker but DDE does offer 20% off on alcohol so that might make it work better for some.

It is good at the All-Stars food courts, POP food court and both Port Orleans food courts (not CS in the parks but still it helps....)

agnes!

That is wrong. AP holders pay full price for DDP when they add it to an AP package with dining.

Actually, you do get 10% off at many TS restaurants with the AP for lunch. It has nothing to do with the dining plan and has been available for years. But I agree, I don't think you get a discount off the Dining Plan.

Can I ask your dates? Are you there over a weekend?

Yes, we are there over the weekend, and in Jan. they don't charge extra for weekends. I know there were some issues with booking on the web site, I guess it was charging extra for weekends last year, don't know about this year as I called to make ressies. My ressie that was emailed to me shows $144 for all of our nights.:cool1: Oh! Almost forgot, 1/20-1/27.

Nothing on the Disney Visa site yet in the way of codes:sad: .I know in the past I have recvd an e-mail when the codes have come out, I just can't remember if it was on the same day that they came out. Hopefully they will come out on Friday. Until then...:surfweb:

I had pages to catch up with last night...hopefully when I get home from work today there will be many more pages...all about the general code!!

I know how to get the visa code but how do you get a GP code? Do you think that might come out before the Visa code? I really want a duplicate of last years code...we loved Typhoon Lagoon and can't wait to try Blizzard Beach.
