Sunday was spent in Key West. Since that is a Florida city, we did not see the sense in paying for an excursion. It was still cool but Christi, Neil, and I just headed off the ship.
We took off walking to see what we could see. We walked all the way to the southern most tip of the United States and took the requisite photos of each other with the marker. We walked to the Hemingway House and passed the Lighthouse museum. We checked out shops along the way and just took in the sights. We ran into Tracy and Al at one street corner and saw some other DDLers on a tram going down the street. After about three hours of walking, Christi and I were hungry. I had not had breakfast or lunch. Neil wanted to walk on to the cemetery, but I needed to find a restaurant. Christi could not have cared less about a cemetery. I would have enjoyed seeing it, but Neil was in a hurry. Being the good little Florida boy that he is, Neil needed to see the cemetery and then find a television set for the Tampa Bay playoff game. This was the last game before the Super Bowl. So I told him that I would come back to Key West in the future and see what I missed. We separated with Christi and I heading back towards the ship and Neil off to the cemetery. Christi and I found an outdoor bar and café a few blocks later. Guess what was on the television? So she and I watched Tampa Bay while Neil was off knows where. We had chicken and pasta with Cokes, and followed with real Key Lime pie. But the funny thing was the waitresses at the bar. It was about 48-50 degrees with a little wind. The ladies working there were wearing jeans, t-shirts, and knitted scarves tied around their necks like it was 20 degrees. So funny.
Christi and I returned to the Magic in time to watch the famous Key West sunset from my verandah. Neil joined us a while later. He had been at the ESPN club on the ship, but came to my cabin to see the end of the game with Christi.
That night, our regular rotation for dinner was Animators Palate. We all enjoyed watching the black and white animated panels turn colors throughout the meal. I took lots of photos with my new digital camera of the panels. Christi and Neil had the same rotation for dinner as the DDL group, but had their own private table. I was assigned to a table with Margaret, Lori, Catherine, Amy, Tracy, and Al. As stated in reports from other members of the group, Disney had not placed us anywhere close to each other. Arlene, Bob, Rose, Tom, Kevin, and Jennifer were across the room from us. Another table of six was fairly close to ours. Beth Eloheimo and her family were about six tables away. Then a few of our group were on early rotation because they had small children. Dinner was very good, but I was not all that happy with our servers after the ones that I had in December of 2001 and the marvelous service we had the night before in Palo.
