Outdoor Summer Wedding

I'd ask here. OP already has what the attire is requested and is wanting to deviate from that. A linen suit is not the same as a linen shirt. A linen shirt is more what you'd see at a beach. Polo is for the golf course and country club (though is quite common for business casual attire for corporate world).

In my mind I'd consider it on the same level as normal weddings but a consideration in the color palate to more suit a garden rather than a glitzy indoor wedding. The pastel is the clue. And the consideration towards the outdoor setting is the fabric of linen for the suit.

But when in doubt ask especially if you're going for the linen long sleeve or the polo.
The website has been updated. I must not be the only one with questions. Now it says 2 piece summer weight suits or button down shirt and slacks. It also specifically states no ties.

That's perfect that they updated it, sounds like they still expect more upscale attire not the casual route that would have you wearing Hawaiian shirts.

Next topic. I’m debating with one of my sisters about black and white floral prints at a wedding. I say it’s fine. Some say no white whatsoever for ladies dresses.

FWIW even the groom took off his jacket.

Yes, but he had one for the photos. I suggest DH bring a lightweight jacket for any more formal photos, just in case. He can always dress down this way, and be that way for the majority of the event. But, if he doesn't bring a jacket, he can't dress UP. He can expect to probably have the jacket slung over on the back of his chair most of the time.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. He’ll be wrinkled but not dying in the heat.

I would nix a linen anything, as you said, he may look like a rumpled mess after 10 minutes in the heat. Normally this would not be a problem. But, the whole wedding day may end up being a blur for the bride & groom. It's not until they see the photos and video, that they really are able to take in the details and be "at" their own wedding.

The wedding photos are also what will out last photos of other events. So, it would be good to not look like a rumpled mess for posterity.
