I don't want to fuel any rumors, but this sounds pretty 'official' to me!! :yay:

DVC @ AKL!!!!! :woohoo:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=14973807#post14973807

Thank you so much RachelTori for the link. I have been hearing little bits and bites about this from my source at AKL. I am certainly going to look into this. Maybe they will have something set up by the time I get to AKL in December for interested guest to peruse. :) I just hope whatever they do doesn't effect the friendly and quite resort AKL is. I also hope it doesn't cause any negitive effect to the concierge lounge.

John's mom - Hi :wave2: How are things going with you and your family? I am trying to get all the last few items taken care of before our trip. I hope your DH is doing well.

Stephwynn - Good to see back and joining the Jambo group. Have you been to DL before? I had a great trip there for a BIG birthday. It is different then WDW, but there is so much magic.

OOps I have a question I forgot to post right now....

Does anyone know if there is anyone in Orlando making Disney themed baskets now...I know Peg went out of business and I was wondering if anyone else is doing any baskets? :listen:

Hi Patricia, good to see you here too. I have been looking into room gifts and found a possible sorce. I am attaching their e-mail to me and address. I do not know anyone who has used them. They do not have a web page yet. It seems to be owned by two woman Dodie and Jane.

Thank you for your interest!

We don't have website YET, as we are just starting. I can certainly email you pictures. Let me tell you a bit about what we do....

We do not charge a 'premium' for items- only the actual cost plus a delivery fee. Items can be Disney themed food/snack items and/or Disney items delivered in a themed gift bag or other container of your choice. Our delivery fee is $30 for the first bag and $10 for each additional gift bag.

We would ask that you make a list of items you would like and set a budget. Most clients make a list of 'must haves' and then allocate a percentage of their budget for Pixie Dust Delivery to fill with additional goodies and snacks.

We can get personalized items (ears, badges, etc) or help with a theme (Princesses, Pirates, 1st Trip to WDW, Honeymoon, etc.) We can also create one together once you tell us a little more about the recipients, their interests, and your 'vision'!

Of course, we always add a little bit of pixie dust for FREE!

Let me know if we can help you out!

The other suggestion would be The Disney Florist. I have used them a couple of times and have been very happy with the results, staff and delivery. They have a site, however if you call them they will work with you for whatever you would like. They have done some pretty special things for me. Here is their site: www.disneyflorist.com

This trip I contacted guest services at the Poly and have arranged some items to be delivered to our two daughters and families. Guest services have many food ideas and will also purchase items you may want added from their gift shops. I wanted things to be in a Poly theme. :sunny:

Let me know if you do use pixiedustdelivery. I sure do miss Feralpeg and her wonderful talent. The items she has made for me in the past were awesome. I am sure she is enjoying her new career.

QUESTION: Is anyone here on the Jambo thread going to MVMCP this year? I have never been, I am looking for tips and suggestions for the party.

Got to back to work. Have a great afternoon.

To everyone leaving soon, have the best time!

I just realized we leave 2 months tomorrow... please tell me the time will fly, I have to make sure all my christmas shopping is done and the house is decorated before we go.

Cass,

It looks like we may cross paths. We will be there December 16-18. :thumbsup2

I was able to book the Sunrise Safari for my birthday on the 17th. :cool1:

Hi ff, we are doing the sunrise safari the morning of the 14th...

My birthday is December 18th! Noel's (my DD12) is Dec 14th and her friend that we are bringing is December 13th :)

3 Birthdays in 5 days... looking forward to a great trip.

Angel16,

This time last year my DH, DD and I were getting ready for our Dec. trip to the AKL. I know you'll love the Lodge during the holiday season.

The Army keeps messing up my son's paperwork for his return. They don't want him to leave Germany until Jan. 5. Since he has several weeks vacation left, they might let him come home in November and be discharged in Jan.

ohhh I would love to buy into DVC at AKL. I can't wait to hear about all of the details as they roll out!

It sounds like they might be ready to start selling AKV DVC ownerships at the very beginning of 2007. :thumbsup2

I feel really dumb about this, but I don't get the DVC.. not just at AKL but anywhere. Why are they more desirable than the hotels? Is it just the space in the unit? The last thing I would want on vacation is a kitchen! No Way.

Are they cheaper than booking a hotel? are they an investment? I just don't get it.

I didn't know there were 2 laundry rooms! I only know of the one by the Cub's Den. Where is the other?

A studio, which is similar to a normal deluxe room, goes for 9-14 points a night Sunday to Friday(Friday to Sunday cost 18-26) depending on what DVC resort and when in the year you are going. Points cost their owners about $7 per point(simplified cost as I'm disregarding lost interest income, but also disregarding inflation of room costs).

The rooms being converted at AKL to DVC would most likely go for 14 points weekdays($98) and 26 points weekends($182), or $854 for the week($122 ave per night), with no taxes increasing the cost of the room.

1 bedrooms and 2 bedrooms are also available which is great if you need more space or have 4-8 people. King size beds, whirlpool baths and full kitchens are standard in these.

Check out the DVC boards for even more info.

Thanks Angel!
I hope to have time to catch up with all that I have missed. It's been a busy summer! Not much computer time. No, we have never been to DL, although it is wayyyyy closer to our home in Western Canada! I have always had a penchant for the World! My daughters have an opportunity to dance at DL, with their studio, and of course, I can't let them go alone :rotfl2: ....so I told hubby, darn, have to go to Disney again!!

Just found out that my sis and her family are planning their first trip to WDW as a whole family (there were there once before, several years ago, with only one of their four, the other three weren't born yet). I am excited to help her, and they have picked AKL for their chosen destination!!! I guess I sold them on it. I have given her this website, and encouraged her to start reading and posting!!

Nice to be back! I'll post more once I've had a chance to read up!

DVC cautions that it in not an investment. And I don't think it is cheap either when you remember to factor in dues over the length of the deed, lost income on investments, etc..

But if like us you expect to vaction at WDW for years to come and enjoy space and amentities, DVC is very sweet. When there are 3 of us, we get a one bedroom. It is nice having a whirlpool, two TVs, a desk in the master BR, real wine glasses, a tea kettle, ful refrig for all our goodies, etc.

I also LOVE having a washer/dryer in our room. Before DVC I only did laundry on vacation in case of an emergency...as in a child getting sick. But I love it!!!! We throw our clothes in at end of day and toss them in the dryer later that night or in the am. We take far fewer clothes and go home with everything clean except last night pajamas. It is no more work than managing dirty clothes in suitcases and much more pleasant.

When our college age daughter is along, we get a 2BR and have two baths, 3 TVs, etc. It is great.

Okay I am starting to understand it a bit more, I imagined it was more of an appeal to larger families. Only my DD and I go to Disney and usually I book concierge because I like the morning/evening offerings and a place to relax, but I suppose if I had my own living room......

Thanks for the info!
