Hey Everyone,

I can not believe this moment has finally arrived! :Pinkbounc

We are headed out tomorrow morning and should be at AKL by 4:00 pm tomorrow! I am so excited - we will be there for seven days. I've got to thank everyone for all the great hints and pieces of information; I know it's going to be of great help during our trip!

Will give a report when I get back!

Faith

I gotta share my exciting news!

Our ME tags came yesterday and today we booked our airfare!!!! We got a GREAT price too! Yeaaaaaa!

 :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :dance3: :yay: :bounce: :goodvibes

Thanks for the comments guys and yes there is a jewelry section as well as quite a selection of watches at Zawadi Marketplace. My son's girlfriend picked out charm letters for a bracelet and spelled out her name with my son's name on the bracelet. It was really cute. I bought three playsets (castle, tree of life, and a dinosaur lab) and had them shipped back home for my 6 year old's birthday that was right after we came back home. I also bought carved giraffes and elephants there too. I have pictures of the Presidential Suite when I finish uploading. I'll post the link in a later post when I finish.

We didn't see the one eyed ostrich on the sunset safari but they took us over to the pens to see the new baby red river hogs. That was a real treat!!

Hey Guys,

Here are some of my pics from our room and stay. I think my report might have to wait until I return from my next trip as I'm working every day until I leave.

It was incredibly dead while we were at WDW. Most of the crowds were gone by Monday and we had the place to ourselves. The pool in the afternoon was never crowded. I have some fun pool shots I took with my water camera, but I won't have those back until after my next trip.

My mom and sister loved the flowers, bags, and gift basket from Peggy. I will post some flower pics here one of these days as well. I highly reccomend the Disney Florist. The flowers lasted the entire trip...I felt guilty leaving them behind.

Wendy were you on the Dining Plan? We were and it was so much food I couldn't believe it!

Okay, I'm starting to get a complex here. :) My questions seem to get passed by or lost in the shuffle but that's okay. I'll try try again with another one...

I've heard Zawadi Marketplace is really good. What kind of things can you buy there? Is there anything a 16 year old girl would like? Any interesting African jewelry? My daughter likes wearing jewelry. Anything else that you would consider a must have?

Only 75 more days to go!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
The market place has all kind of neat things. I didnt see jewelery but I am sure they have some there. The place is really big and has alot of authentic things from Africa. My nephew bought one of those surfer neclaces with the beads so I know they do have some stuff there. I have a toddler so the my pal mickey was a hit along with some cool t-shirst for mom with AKL embroidered on them not the iron on type. We also bought some African wine and had it shipped home. I am sure you will love the place. I spent way to many hours in there. :rotfl2:

scoutsmom99 - Great pictures and thanks for taking the time to post them. You had a great room from the looks of it. I cant wait until my turn!!!!!

SOOOOOOOOOOO That tells me you didn't READ my trip report!!!!! LOL

I'm only kidding, it was the Mickey's Magical Milestones tour. I give more details about it in the report. But, it's 2 hours, $25 per person, basically it tells you about how Walt & Mickey got their start!!
No fair! That post wasn't up when I asked you about your pictures!

....MY personal fave is the African wine (I suppose that THAT'S not appropriate for a 16-y-o, tho'.... ! ) They have some really great carved statues - I like the giraffes...mebbe she can redcorate her room - perhaps with an 'African theme'.....there are so many 'hand-made' items [just too many to mention] but I do believe that there is a selection of jewelry...
The wine might not be appropriate for her but I sure would like it. ;) Actually, a carved statue sound like something she would like. Thanks kimmar!

Koobs -- Kimmar is right, there is a jewelry section. There is also a lot of art, paintings, statues, carvings, etc.... ect.... One thing I did that was great your DD might like, the pick a pearl. In Japan at Epcot you pick a pearl and can have it put into a setting, necklace, earrings, ring, you decide. My DS picked my pearl and I had it set in a silver setting for a necklace. I'll post the pics later, but that may be something she'd enjoy!
That's sound like a great idea too, Wendypooh. I might even like to do that one myself! Thanks.

That all sounds great! I'm trying to convince her that this trip will be different from our other two and it won't be the same old same old. I'm sure she's going to love shopping there. (She's 16, she's going to love shopping anywhere :teeth: )

Hey Lisa ~~

We thought the parks were good on tue/wed/thur. but then it got crowded, at least to us, as we go in Jan. Feb. when NOONE is there!!! Sun and Mon. we thought were the most crowded!! Anyway, the lodge was seemed pretty empty, and on friday the pool was awesome!!! DS and I were there pretty much all day, till about 2:30 or so. As for the dining plan, yes, we were on it, and omg, it was a ton of food!!!! Glad you guys had a good time, I'm scouring your pics to see if I see "us"!!! ;)

Have fun next week!!!

Koobs,

If you are a coffee drinker, the Zawadi Marketplace has some great, large mugs with the Animal Kingdom Lodge on them.

My DD always finds plenty to buy in the Zawadi Marketplace, she usually buys a small art print of the AKL Hotel/Savanna, trinkets & jewelry, little carved giraffes etc... and she has all the DAK Beanie animals.

Does anyone have pics of a 6th floor Savanna room/view?
