I've been very bad about getting pictures uploaded from my stay this past July. I'm just beginning. Here's a start:
Sunset Safari

Great pictures. Thanks for sharing. When we went on the Sunset Safari in Nov. 2004, there was an ostrich with only one eye. Did your guide happend to mention this ostrich?

Ok Jambo WildBunch, I have another question for you...

Where are the Standard rooms located? Are they close to the lobby, since they obviously aren't out on the far ends of the savannahs? Just trying to console myself since I won't be able to afford an upgrade when we check in (was hoping to save enough $$ for that, but times are tight and I can't swing it this time). If it's a bad view, will it at least be somewhat close to everything else??

Oh yeah, and another question...

Not to sound cheap, but has anyone ordered water from Staples and had it delivered to you at the resort? Shipping is free for Staples Rewards customers (a free program) and it seems a lot of DISers do this (although much more at the Values).

I'm looking at spending $6 for a case of water instead of paying $2/bottle in the parks (and I won't refill water bottles from the water fountains, too many germs which grosses me out  ).

I'm either going to order from Staples or pack the extra souvie suitcase with water. Obviously the Staples route is easiest but I don't want to look like a cheapskate at a Deluxe resort, especially when I'm hoping for some pixie dust to come my way and upgrade us from a Standard (although I'm not expecting it).

I humbly ask your advice.... :worship:

(I should also mention that DD8 and I both don't handle heat well...we've both fainted from it. Staying super hydrated is our only saving grace!)

Okay, I'm starting to get a complex here. :) My questions seem to get passed by or lost in the shuffle but that's okay. I'll try try again with another one...

I've heard Zawadi Marketplace is really good. What kind of things can you buy there? Is there anything a 16 year old girl would like? Any interesting African jewelry? My daughter likes wearing jewelry. Anything else that you would consider a must have?

Only 75 more days to go!! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Yes, the Captain Jack Tutorial is at MK, the times are posted. The guy is great and it's really fun!!!

As for the Primal parade, the kids meet at Zawadi at 7:50, DS only did this twice as we were out all the other nights!!! The kids like it though and they get a certificate of participation!! Check the activities board in the lobby, there are tons of things for kids to do. DS also painted a birdhouse, right outside on the patio near Simba's, near the pool. I think it was at noon, but again, the times are posted. He really enjoyed that. I don't have those pics loaded yet........... I'm working on it!!!! LOL

Hey wendypooh-- great pics! It looks like you did some kind of tour (yellow name tags) and met Donald-- what was that? It looks fun! :)

Thanks wallyb and shyjade. I look forward to any info I can get. I really really can't wait to go!!

The neck coolers work very well! We used these last year & they were a tremendous help in keeping us fairly cool. Soak them in ice water & ahhhh! To refresh just pour cool water over them. Just a thought for you & your dd.

SOOOOOOOOOOO That tells me you didn't READ my trip report!!!!! LOL

I'm only kidding, it was the Mickey's Magical Milestones tour. I give more details about it in the report. But, it's 2 hours, $25 per person, basically it tells you about how Walt & Mickey got their start!!

....MY personal fave is the African wine (I :confused3 suppose that THAT'S not appropriate for a 16-y-o, tho'.... ! ) They have some really great carved statues - I like the giraffes...mebbe she can redcorate her room - perhaps with an 'African theme'.....there are so many 'hand-made' items [just too many to mention] but I do believe that there is a selection of jewelry...

Another thing that I found very helpful for the heat was the water bottle fans they sell, those were great. I also purchased a woven fan from Zawadi, it's big, but very convenient, I carried it my backpack, it was a lifesaver!!!

Koobs -- Kimmar is right, there is a jewelry section. There is also a lot of art, paintings, statues, carvings, etc.... ect.... One thing I did that was great your DD might like, the pick a pearl. In Japan at Epcot you pick a pearl and can have it put into a setting, necklace, earrings, ring, you decide. My DS picked my pearl and I had it set in a silver setting for a necklace. I'll post the pics later, but that may be something she'd enjoy!
