AKLGoofy! Thank you. You helped me with some feedback about the sunset safari/Jiko dinner stuff. Now, you have completed my idea for the fiance and his 58th birthday ideas! We are narrowing down to the last few things we have not yet done at Disney, and these are about it, except for Victoria and Albert's Chef's Table! I should book the segway and AKL thing now if I want to do it in August, huh?

OH yes, I'd say so. According to Birnbaum's:

"Around the World at Epcot (Daily 8:30 and 9:30)
An hour-long tour around the World Showcase Lagoon with a twist"

Two things are wrong here. First, they have added another timeslot, according to this link http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks/tourDetail?id=AroundtheWordEpcotTourPage it is at 9:00, because it is so popular now. Second, it is actually 2 hours, not one. They have another one which I saw listed somewhere that IS just one hour in length, but I'd have to think it wouldn't be worth it after you take out time for ride training.

So, I'd definately book now so that you can get the time/day that fits your schedule the best.

You'll truly enjoy the Sunset Safari, I think. The great thing was the generally unhurried atmosphere. After experiencing the "ride" in AK, I have to admit I was really looking forward to a chance to actually get some in-depth information about the animals and decent pictures. The dinner at Jiko was made all the better by the fact that our chef came out with each course to explain what each was, what region of the country it came from and answer any questions.

AKLGoofy:

Thank you so much for the detailed segway report! My sister and I are scheduled to do that in November, and it sounds great! I am looking forward to the rest of your trip details.

AKLGoofy, thanks again. Question on Jiko. Was the chef who came out Anette Grecchi Gray? We have been dying to meet her! We eat there probably an average of twice monthly and never have we had the opportunity. We know who she is from a distance, but that's as far as we got. I think I will wait till the DK is back in school for the Segway thingy. Not so long a wait...he starts August 7th...yikes! That way, we can get over there by 9 AM and relax. My fiance and I are into surprising each other. Last year he surprised me with the Richard Petty Driving Experience. I was a nervous wreck, albeit a hero (heroin) with all the men's wives who were there! The Segway sounds easier, and I don't have to worry about getting it out of first gear! LOL So, terrific, thanks again.

We are going to AKL for our honeymoon in feb. I am very interested in Boma, and that tour sounds fun. I am so torn between boma for dinner, or bome for breakfast? Which one is the better one to do they both sound great. Most of the menus for it I have found don't list a ton. Maybe someone can tell me which has what and what ones have better offerings. Thanks so much

I just read this on the Mouesavers newsletter about the bunkbeds:

None of the Standard View rooms will have bunk beds in 2007. If you want bunk beds in a Pool View or Savannah View room, you must pay extra for the "Bunk Bed" option.

I thought bunkbeds were not available now in standard view rooms?

I'm ashamed to say I don't remember his name, but the chef was a younger male. He said that he had worked at V & A's prior to coming to Jiko, though, if that helps.

The Segway would be a LOT easier than the Driving Experience, no doubt. I had looked at the Petty thing as something I might possibly do on our anniversary day while Susan was otherwise engaged, but as you will see when the rest of the report is posted, it just wouldn't have worked. At least I've left something for next time!

Bob

You mean Susan wouldn't do it?! It's a blast. I wish I were more mentally prepared. All I was told when we left the house is "wear closed-toed shoes." Gulp. I had no idea until we were approaching the Magic Kingdom and the Car Care Center. Then I panicked cuz of I knew those cars weren't exactly automatics. The last stick I drove was a 1967 Corvette with a high, hard clutch and then my Harley. But that's a different story. I was the slowest one (and, of course, the only chick) in the bunch...topping out at 98 miles an hour. For Gawrsh sakes, I had my new Chrysler Pacifica up faster than that! Shhhh. Next time...watch out!!!

Cool ~~ Thanks for that link!!! One day :rolleyes1 maybe I'll get to stay in that suite!!!

***As for the "bunk-beds" in standard rooms :confused3 :confused3 I was under the same impression as everyone else, that bunk-beds were NOT in standard rooms???? I know that in Feb. I had booked standard, but requested bunk-beds. We were upgraded to deluxe savanna and it had bunk-beds. If there are bunk-beds in standard rooms now, this is news to me!!! I'm gonna go to mousesavers and read what it says. I know Mary is usually right on the money when it comes do Disney!!! Maybe the bunk-beds are so popular they feel the need to do this??? I know DS really enjoyed them, I'm hoping we get them again!!!

I am trying to decide if I need a grocery delivery or not. Beings we will be there for a week & my boys will be with me, I know I am going to need a few things for the room :teeth: Thanks & have a wonderful time! :Pinkbounc
