Jake and the Neverland Pirates Character Meal - Hollywood & Vine???

Kenny the Pirate has reported that.. "There’s a new rumor going around that Jake, Izzy (pink bandana and shirt), Captain Hook and Mr Smee will be taking over the breakfast and lunch “Play and Dine” character meals at Hollywood and Vine in Hollywood Studios. The current meal isn’t nearly as popular as Walt Disney World Entertainment would like to see. It’s seen as an underperforming offering and they hope by adding Izzy as a new character and bringing Hook and Smee out more will inspire new bookings."

"The move would send Agent Oso and June into the rare/retired character status and Handy Manny will continue to meet in his usual location. I think it would be even more fun to put Peter Pan into the meal (he has appeared on this show) and have him interact with Capt. Hook. We used to have some great interactions with those to characters a few years ago in the Magic Kingdom. If they had to drop Smee to add Pan, I think it would bring a broader appeal."

Has anyone else heard anything like this? I can't find anything anywhere else about this possible change. Kenny said there is a new rumor "going around" so I figured if it was going around one of the insiders here would have heard about it.

If anyone has heard anything about this, can they provide a possible timeline? I know that the last two Octobers they have made changes to Hollywood & Vine (Oct 2010 - added Oso, Oct 2011 - added Jake). Seems like it would be a time for a change.

It would be great if they did that by our trip We've got a booking there, only because I love the food there, but couldn't care less about the characters that was there last time. But Hook and Mr Smee would be awesome!

If this rumor is confirmed I might be tempted to rearrange my ADRs to fit this in! Jake and the Pirates is just about the coolest thing in our house right about now.

I so hope this turns out to be true & is done in October! My YDS would love this & we already have our ADR for H&V for breakfast on our DHS day. He'd be in heaven, especially getting to see Hook!

My 3yo DD has daily conversations with her "imaginary friends" Jake, Izzy and Cubby. Needless to say, this would jump to the tippy-top of our must-do list, even for this family who doesn't do characters.

Our DS would LOVE that!!!!!! We went to DL this past October and DS got to meet Captain Hook (his favorite villain) and I had to explain to him that Captain Hook isn't in DW anymore. Talk about one disappointed 4 year old! Having a breakfast with him would make his trip!

They usually do changes in October, though this would be a very big change to the entertainment in the restaurant. I wonder if they would keep the little show they do now or change it to fit the Jake and the Neverland Pirates theme. They could have people dress like pirates (like Sharky and Bones) and sing during the little show. That could be fun.

I agree that this could be a welcomed change, but think my DD would LOVE for Doc McStuffins to be included somehow.

My boys would love this. Disney needs a more boy themed character meal. They have plenty of princess stuff. But as a mom of 3 boys we want boys stuff.

Agreed about the need for more boy stuff. It is beyond me why they don't have a Toy Story character meal.

My boys love Doc McStuffins, too, and would be over the moon if she and some of the animals were there!

I was this posted on FB yesterday. We already have a bkfst ADR booked for Dec, but I would absolutely love for Captain Hook to be there if in fact this rumor is true. DS3 likes Jake & Neverland Pirates, and loves Captain Hook

Even if Hollywood & Vine became a Jake meal, they could put Doc McStuffins out in the Animation Courtyard where Jake and Manny meet now. Plus they could put Oso out there if they removed him from Hollywood & Vine. This would give a nice rotation of characters in the courtyard again. Since they got rid of the Little Einsteins out there there has been very little variety with only Jake and Manny. Plus you can meet them both at Hollywood & vine currently so it is a bit disappointing.

As far as a Toy Story meal, that is a great idea, but part of it is probably that it would be very hard to have Buzz at a meal. The costume is reportedly very, very expensive to produce and I also can't imagine walking around in it from table to table would be possible. They could always go the route of Norway and Cinderella's Royal table and put Buzz at the front of the restaurant for a meet and greet/photo op and then have Woody, Jesse, Bull's-eye, Green Army man, etc go table to table inside.

Have not heard this rumor at all in the backstage areas of WDW.

And, for the record, there are also no current plans to bring Doc McStuffins to life in character form. Sorry to all who are hoping!
