IT'S OFFICIAL!!!****OCTOBER 2014****...ROLL CALL!! Join the party!

Have any of you October travelers ever NOT done MNSSHP? Our girls will be 10 & 11 and I don't know if they'll feel bad if we don't do it. It's an extra cost, right? We'll either be there the week before or the week of Halloween and I don't think we'll be there Halloween night (DH wants to leave Friday, I'd like to leave Saturday). We aren't telling them until we're on the way.
Is it every night? Any limitations on rides if we don't do it?

We did the MNSSHP last year, and honestly we were a little disappointed. It was fun, but I'm not sure it is worth it for us to pay that kind of money to go back. The parade was cool, and there was trick or treating, but it took most of our time just getting candy, and we didn't do that much more. I didn't have a good plan, so it is my fault, but for us, it just wasn't worth the major $$$ that we shelled out for tickets.

One thing to be really aware of when making your plans...the Magic Kingdom closes at 7 on MNSSHP nights, but they start trying to get you to leave at around 5. They are pretty thorough in trying to move you toward the front gates and it makes continuing in the park until closing really hard. It is kind of a bummer. So our plan for this year is to avoid the MK on party nights (we aren't hoppers). I'm pretty sure that I read that party nights are Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

Joining in!!! Will be staying at AoA for our 2nd trip to Disney Sept 29-Oct 8th!

Okay, I will be honest here...I read about the first 5 pages of this thread and then jumped to page 18! LoL!!! Too long to read it all!! But I have really enjoyed seeing everyone's plans!!!

Anyway, my name is Terri, and as I just posted, we will be staying at AoA Sept 29- Oct8... right now our plans look something like this:

Sept 29- Travel Day/ MK
Crowds: 4/10
ADR: Fireworks Dessert Party

Sept 30- MK
Crowds: 2/10
ADRs: BBB & BOG

Oct 1- EP
Crowds: 1/10
ADR: Akershus

Oct 2- Rest Day/ MK for MNSSHP
Crowds: 2/10
No ADR's

Oct 3- HS
Crowds: 2/10
ADRs: H&V Character Breakfast, Sci Fi

Oct 4- EP
Crowds: 2/10
ADR: Via Napoli

Oct 5- MK/ DTD
Crowds: 4/10
ADR: Ohana Breakfast

Oct 6- AK
Crowds: 3/10
ADR: HDDMR

Oct 7- MK
Crowds: 5/10
ADR: CP Breakfast

All of the crowd predictions are based off touringplans.com, we used them last year and they turned out to be VERY accurate! We missed the crowds the entire stay of our August trip... then the average crowd levels for us were between 4-6... this time our avaerage is 2-4!! So I am excited for smaller crowds!

Obviously we can't make ADR's yet, but those are what we hope to get!

:thumbsup2

So I was looking at the dates for this year's Halloween parties, and it looks like I'll definitely be there during the time they have the parties.

Everyone keep their fingers crossed they have one on 10/2/14 (my birthday)!!! ::yes::

That date is predicted to be a MNSSHP and that's the same day we plan to go too!!! :hyper: Hopefully it will follow the same pattern as last year and this date will work out for both of us!

Anyone know how accurate are the touringplans.com crowd calender? I am asking because it is showing that during my stay in October, there will be TWO nights where MK will be open until 1 or 2 am, which is pretty exciting :) Anyone here ever been in a park that late? Whats it like?

We used them last year and found it to be highly accurate! We followed the crowd calendar predictions and missed the crowds our entire trip! I've never been in the park that late, but I know they do stay open that late for EMH's! I've heard that the park gets vacant after like 11!!

So having fun planning...... 9 days/nights late October....how much would you guys pack? I don't want to bring a lot. I'll wear jeans and jacket there (leaving from Chicago).

Do you change every night before you go out for evening, or do you stay in same park clothes?

I just don't want to over pack. :)

We brought all these extra clothes last time and only stayed in our park wear the whole day the whole trip!! LoL! :lmao: I plan on just bringing one shirt for each day, and a few pairs or shorts/capris. Maybe a couple extra tanks just in case!

hellooo.....helloooo...???

This thread is dead Fred! :rotfl:

Let's start talking gang! :yay:

So I've bought the Unofficial Guide for 2014. Mostly just for fun as I know I can get most of the information from this board. I just really like to have a book in my hands, you know?

We've been slowly picking out our "preferred" counter service spots...I think we will hit up the bakery in France a few times! :)

It also seems like our dates fall historically into the free dining period in October, so we would qualify for table service dining, so that's a whole other ball game...we'll see. We bought the quick service because we don't want to be tied down to table service ADR's. We just planned to book those on the fly if we felt like it. Two of us, willing for later seating times....I think we should be okay.

I have the Boulangerie on my list too!!! I went in there last Aug but didn't get anything because we had an ADR to do... but it looked so good!!! I'm scared we will eat to much at F&W though and not make it in there again! But it's what I am planning on if we do eat a CS lunch that day!

I LOVE the unofficial guide! I read it before our last trip, and like I mentioned before we had no upsets in our trip, we missed the crowds, we made rope drop every day...it went off like a dream, and we had a party of 7! ;)

We will be at the world Oct. 4 - 11th!!! Staying at AOA Lion King Suites. We are really in of need of some pixie dust and disney magic!!!!

We just stayed at AoA last Aug, I LOVED it there, so much so we booked it again for this Oct trip!! It is a beautiful resort! The food court was also outstanding! I loved the build your own pasta bar!! I am sure you will have LOTS of pixie dust come your way!! pixiedust:

I've been lurking for awhile and loving reading everyone's October excitement!

I have been scary into planning mode since we finally narrowed down on our dates. Now I just need the EMH and the Fantasmic show times to help nail it down. With all the excitement and waiting I may need a vacation from my vacation planning. :rotfl:

Anyways, happy to be here with all of you!::yes::

I would work off of touringplans.com 's predicted calendar for now. It usually ends up being pretty accurate. At least you can start planning and juggle things around later if you have too, you can even see predicted park hours for each day of your trip, hope that helps! ;)

I don't have much planed yet. we are staying at AOA in the little mermaid rooms! i sure my 13yr old son will cringe when he finds out but will be happy to be at disney world!
We are also going to do MNSSHP too! we even picked family costumes out! i will be mother gothel, dd will be rapunzel, ds will be flinn rider! soo excited but this means i need to start making my dd dress soon!

That's where we stayed in Aug!!! Don't worry about your son, he will probably get a kick out of it! The room itself is not to girly! It's more "under the sea" the only place you even see Ariel in the room is on the shower curtain! My hubby really enjoyed the room! I LOVE your halloween costumes!

So I've been doing some lose planning and I want to get some opinions! We will be on the DDP and I'm trying to decide where all I want to make my ADR's! I'm looking for only 1credit meals! I've already been to CRT, CM, & TH! Do here is my current list I know for sure:
Ohana, BOG, Akershus, Cape May, Hollywood &Vine Fantasmic Dinner Package!
I have 4 more choices: I was thinking about trying Boma at AKL~ Opinions? I also need to eat someplace in WS at EP! We usually eat at R&C but we want to try some place different! (I LOVE R&C though) I was also thinking about HS 50's Prime Time Cafe? Opinions?
What are your must do ADR's? Thanks for any input! :)

At Epcot we ate at the Beirgarten and LOVED it! It has entertainment which was sooooo so so fun!!! Also its a buffet and the food was just spectacular. The whole experience was top notch!! Also, if you're on the DDP one of the restaurants you get the most bang for your buck is Tutto Italia, they have a couple pricey meals but its only a 1 credit place!!

We also ate at 50's last trip and I LOVED that too! Your waiter effects your experience a lot there, and ours wasnt that great, but as for the food it was delish! The fried chicken was really yummy, and you can order shakes as your drink and still get dessert, which they had an AMAZING dessert selection! Highly recommend it! :thumbsup2

hey, I think I got everyone. Let me know if you need updates on anything.

Old dates:
Lidian - 10/5-10/10 POR

New dates:
Lidian - 10/1-10/10 POR

I can't wait! :woohoo:

In a blah mood today, yet another 7 inches of show has fallen and I will be walking to the L (train) in minus seven degree weather tomorrow morning...again. :crazy2:

I'm cranky. :p The funny thing is by the time I go to WDW in October, I'll be excited for winter again because I'll be sick of the summer here where I live!

I'm very hard to please. ;)

I'm reading menus and posting questions on the restaurant board to try and cheer myself up.

Just waiting for the croud callender and park hrs to come out so we can make our final plans> I have them set according to thepredicted times and dates. waiting waiting.....I hate waiting!

Not sure of the schedule yet (there will be at least one day at Universal to do Harry Potter World!), but it looks like October 21 - 30 with a split stay at the Contemporary (21-23) and then offsite to Bonnet Creek. Looking at some good Food & Wine time as well as a MNSSHP!

Hello!

Its storming here tonight! I am really enjoying all the posts! I love planning.. :woohoo: My DD is so excited to start making ADRS. She is viewing youtube clips as we speak. :goodvibes

when do you think we will have those? In dying to work on my daily plans!!!

Sometimes I think of how many months we have to wait and I don't know how I can stand it any longer and might explode! lol

But at the same time it is awesome!! I haven't been able to plan since 2009!! Much rather be watching the clock and planning it all and knowing its going to happen! Before we officially decided to go in October and picked dates, reading everything disney was just a little sad cause I wasn't going. The longing is not easy some days.

But! Now I can plan!! Wahooo!

I'm thinking of subscribing to touringplans(with the allears discount code) to help with picking which parks for which days. I also have easywdw bookmarked as well, just want to doubly sure!

I am currently doing some pre-planning using the Touring Plans crowd calender to determine what parks to attend, which have EMH,etc. I understand that can't be finalized until Disney actually releases the park hours, but its fun anyway!

I am trying to think positive that FP+ will actually be beneficial to us. We see the benefit of being in the park early, and don't mind doing RD to see as much as we can with little wait in the first couple of hours. We will likely do the park with AM EMH without using the FP+, then hop to another park and use our FP+ there later in the day. If we don't plan to hop on a particular day, we may sleep in,go to the water park late morning until late afternoon, then go to a park at night and use our daily FP+. For a park like MK, where there is lots to do, we may even sleep in, use FP+ for our favorites and fill the rest of the day with parades, low wait attraction that we love like POTC and Mickey's Philharmagic, or trying things we never have like the Riverboat or Hall of Presidents.

Not to turn this into a FP+ thread but I really don't understand people who complain and say "How am I supposed to know what I want to ride 60 days before my trip?". I am the opposite-I want to plan it to the detail to maximize the experience. Maybe its because I don't get to Disney very often, and it takes so much planning (we have to book a flight about 8-12 months in advance to get a decent price!), but I can't imagine waking up at Disney each morning and then trying to decide what I want to do.

Glad to see this thread is more active! Has anyone gotten any PIN codes/discounts lately for October?

I completely agree! I plan every detail!

I think I will schedule our FP+ for later in the day. In the morning crowds are usually lower and the wait times are pretty short anyway...

I've set my schedule up around touringplans too, last trip they were spot on so hopefully it will be this time too!

You can call disney reservation line multiple times a week and ask if there's a PIN for your name if you've been before. That's what my other Dis friends have been doing. We're staying at AoA in the LM rooms and they never have discounts for that. :( We will consider upgrading of free dining is offered during our stay though!
