IT'S OFFICIAL!!!****OCTOBER 2014****...ROLL CALL!! Join the party!

Hey there! You're from my side of the world. I am WNY as well. :cool2:
Hello there!!! :) I love WNY! I've only lived here for 2 1/2 years, moved here from FL, but as much as I love FL I will never move back as long as I'm raising kids. I love the seasons, something I never experienced before.
Are you heading to WDW in October as well?

I'm not sure if we "count" for this thread but we are arriving on Oct. 31! We're staying through "Jersey Week" as we booked WL CL with a 35% discount!! YAY! We will be at WL CL from Oct. 31 - Nov. 8th! Hoping to catch a MNSSHP and a MVMCP as well! :-) That is a dream of mine! Now just to wait for flights to come out... we love to fly Jet Blue but they haven't released them yet... I know flying from New Jersey will be expensive but hoping that if we leave late on Oct. 31 we should get a good rate going down at least... coming home... well, that will be expensive!
I have always wanted to go at this time to go to both parties as well. I won't be going this year though! :/ Happy Halloween and Merry Christmas! ;)

So I've been doing some lose planning and I want to get some opinions! We will be on the DDP and I'm trying to decide where all I want to make my ADR's! I'm looking for only 1credit meals! I've already been to CRT, CM, & TH! Do here is my current list I know for sure:
Ohana, BOG, Akershus, Cape May, Hollywood &Vine Fantasmic Dinner Package!
I have 4 more choices: I was thinking about trying Boma at AKL~ Opinions? I also need to eat someplace in WS at EP! We usually eat at R&C but we want to try some place different! (I LOVE R&C though) I was also thinking about HS 50's Prime Time Cafe? Opinions?
What are your must do ADR's? Thanks for any input! :)

Don't fret! You still get to see The Mouse! In the 13 or so years we have been visiting DW in Oct and/or Nov, we have found the last week in Oct to be the lowest crowds and nicest weather. Our work schedules currently keep us from visiting that week, but if I had a choice, end of Oct would be it. You will have a great time!
I Agree! I love going the last week of October! It's my fave week to go to WDW! This year our current schedules won't allow us to either!

Hi, I saw that you also love going the last week of October. We have never been at that time. We are so excited. We will be on the dining plan also. This will be out third time using it. What can you tell us about going at that time of year?

As far as Dining- DH and I did Boma for breakfast. We thought it was okay...we paid put of pocket so we didn't feel as though it was worth the money. Maybe we would have felt different had we been on the DDP. Also, I really enjoyed the 50's Primetime. I thought the was good, the servers are in definitely in character and they make it an experience. But, the peanut butter and jelly milkshake was really good. We just tried Beaches and Cream this last trip and really enjoyed that. We also enjoy The Plaza in MK (similar to beaches and cream), Teppan Edo in Epcot was also good

Have any of you October travelers ever NOT done MNSSHP? Our girls will be 10 & 11 and I don't know if they'll feel bad if we don't do it. It's an extra cost, right? We'll either be there the week before or the week of Halloween and I don't think we'll be there Halloween night (DH wants to leave Friday, I'd like to leave Saturday). We aren't telling them until we're on the way.
Is it every night? Any limitations on rides if we don't do it?

Also, the first part of October is now fall break for a lot of schools.

Ack!! Just when I think I am settled on dates and places I hear something like this lol. We're looking into renting some DVC points but if it doesn't pan out I'm just going to move up our dates a week for a Sep 21 or Sep 28 check in and maybe we can miss most of it. (I don't think think I could push our dates out further...it would be too painful! :worried: )

Just customized our MagicBands, I got pink, Dfi got blue. Wondering if we should choose to put "Bride" and "Groom" on them rather than our names. Anyone know if that's allowed?

You can really write anything you want on them - the label is actually on the inside of the band and only you will see it - we use our initials and the date of check in - we knew that we were making 2014 our own "year of Disney" so we did our first one with our initials and check-in date - example ABC12514 (ABC as initials and check in on Jan. 25, 1014) - our other two sets we have customized will keep the same initials but will have different numbers based on the check-in dates we have. I figured this way I could keep track of which band we got for each trip!

Thanks for the advice! I'm a bit bummed to hear about Boma! Especially since I really loved Tusker House at AK but I wanted to try something different... Now I wonder if I should just stick with TH again!
Yes, I love being there the last week of October. Crowd levels are usually lower than the rest of the month, although the MNSSHP is a bit busier. I went to the MNSSHP last year on the last Friday before Halloween, it was suppose to be the busiest night and it was fine to me. We got to do all we wanted! So, I really don't think it matters that much! I love that week bc I love being there on Halloween! I don't go to MNSSHP on Halloween but you can still go trick or treating in DTD plus at the Boardwalk and probably some other resorts. I also heard that CM in WS at Epcot passes out candy too but Idk if that's true... I didn't go there! The weather is great~ you can still go swimming during the day yet get a little cool off at night! You are going to have a blast.... Where are you staying?

It is an extra cost.... But it is so much fun! I can understand the desire to want to save money though, and there are do many things to do especially those ages! They might be just fine NOT going to MNSSHP! If you are there the week of Halloween, on Halloween night you can do trick or treating in DTD and the boardwalk! It is not every night~ usually 2 nights a week at first and then closer to Halloween 3 nights. I'm not sure but last year it was Sundays, Tuesdays, & Fridays! Sundays and Tuesdays being less busier than Fridays. But you will still get night time hours at MK on non Halloween party nights! However, if you have park hoppers, my advice is go to MK during the day on a Halloween party night, then hop to Epcot or another park at night! Then go to another park during the day on non Halloween party nights and go to MK at night!
In other words, crowds are less during the day on MNSSHP nights at MK! Even if you miss the party you'll still have a blast... But the party is pretty fun... And you get lots of candy! ;)

Hi, thank you so much for your response. I don't what to say about Boma, it just wasn't for us...but, you may enjoy it. :) You never know. We are excited about going in October. We were just there two weeks ago on a spur of the moment trip and it was the first time we were there and it was not summer. We were shocked at how much more fun some things were when the sun was not cooking you all day; so we booked a fall trip on BB. We are staying at Coronado Springs, it just DH and I...so far. Where is your family staying?

Hello everyone! :wave2:

Here to do a little update on our plans.

We finally have our annual pass vouchers and have linked them on our MDE accounts, we've also customised our Magic Bands! I will have yellow and DBF will have red.

We've also decided on our MNSSHP costumes...we're going to be beauty and the beast, well, the beast in his princely form lol I'm going to be making our costumes which I admit I'm a little nervous about...mine will be easy as it is just a yellow dress that I'm customising with chiffon lol but DBF will have to be made from scratch, while trying to keep in mind that being from the UK we feel the heat easily so it will have to be cool and airy lol

I may be reaching out for some sewing advise if things start to go wrong!

Does anyone have any idea when the MNSSHP tickets are released? We want tickets for halloween and I'm REALLY hoping we get them for that day and they don't sell out super fast?

We wanted beach club so bad!!! A little more saving for one that one. That sound a so fun with just the girls for your b-day. We were there in August for mine. It was so awesome, we did one of my favorite park: Animal Kingdom. And yes, I still have my b-day button I display. I am sure you will have a great time. :)

I thought I would share a little about our trip. It's just DH and I so far. We are staying at CSR. He is thinking of inviting his parents, his brother, and the brothers girlfriend.
Plans look like this:
Sat: DTD and T-Rex
Sun: HS and Sci-Fi
Mon: MK and BOG and the The Plaza
Tues: Rest day no definite plans yet
Wed: AK and Pizzafari and the Rainforest (maybe) Thurs: Epcot and Teppan Edo

Nothing is set in stone yet... We are sooo excited.

I am already planning snacks I want. That list grows ever time I read a new trip or dining report. :) I have been trying one or 2 new ones each time we visit.

We would love some advice on a new TS restaurant or two that maybe we could try on the rest day. Also, some advice on the best QS restaurants both in the parks and at DTD. We appreciate any responses.

Looking good! who knew meal planning could be such fun!

While I'm tempted to hit up Pizzafari myself again I heard Flame Tree in AK is really good so thats on my list for the ribs. I also love Earl of Sandwhich at DTD. We're also going to be trying Ohana on our rest day. The BF will love all you can eat meat!

Oh! for snacks, love the dolewhips at MK and the cheese stuffed pretzels at AK.

....oh man I'm hungry now!

I know right. I am always reading dining reports and jotting down names. I heard the same about flame tree and Earl of Sandwich. I have suggested it to DH. I hope you enjoy Ohana, that one sounds good too. :) Don't get me started on the snacks. I tried the jalepeno cheese pretzel at AK and the cream cheese at HS. Both were good. I think I likes the cream cheese better. I have yet to try the dole whip but it is on the list. I have not been back to Starring Rolls at HS for a while. I am thinking about trying to get there this trip. The snacks are just as exciting as the meals. :)

I REALLY loved the Dole Whip float. I get pineapple juice and vanilla Dole Whip and it is super refreshing! I would be content spending my snack credit on one of those every day of my stay!
